That black mk7 was embarrassing
i got my mk8 at 12.8 with just a few bolt ons a tune and wider summer tires the tires make the difference
Hey man ive been driving my 2022 gti and have noticed a small click noise once I start to accelerate, have you experience this? If do so you know what it is? It sounds like it's happening in the front driver side
Yeah mine does that too. I actually made a video on it. Very strange
It is a normal thing they do, I’ve owned a MK7 GTI and now I have the MK8. They both do it, manual and DSG
15.1 to 14.6 how much does that kid wiegh 😂😂
At least 300
Interesting. The Hyundai Kona Ns appear to be a bit faster than the new GTIs in the 1/4 stock for stock. Lots of people getting into the 13.3s @ 105ish and a few 13.2, I've seen claims of faster but no slips to back it up.
I’ve ran 13.9 @ 103 on the street but everyone was getting bad times at the drag strip. Was also very hot
They’re quicker, but I don’t think they’re faster. The best I’ve seen for a Mk8 Gti was 13.6 @ 105mph. I’ve seen some races between the Kona N and Gti, seems like the Kona’s power and shorter gears keep it ahead under 100mph and after that the Gti seems to do better with the longer gearing
This is a driver and tire problem
wait did you beat the stage 2 GTI? LOL
was the other car automatic?
Yes
No chance you are running a 15.1 stock 2022 gti my stock 2017 gti autobahn was running 14.4
That was with a passenger. Without the passenger it was 14.5. Lots of cars were running less than ideal times... I got 14.0 @ 103 on the street.
Weight of the passenger isn't helping
Watch the full video. I did several runs by myself.
Shitty tires and don't use launch control it's garbage
Really need to get that 60 foot time down, that’s killing you. 2.5-2.7 is horrible. Some decent tires and you should be able to run real low 14’s stock.
Yeah the stock all seasons spin quite a bit
@@JVette01eah I know all about that in my 2017 with a tune. 1st and 2nd just spin all the way through and depending on it’s mood sometimes 3rd breaks a little traction. I would have thought the mph would have been higher though.
@@black98rt It was hot and everyone was running horrible times... I've hit 103-104 verified on a dragy.
Seems kinda slow I've seen manual mk8 GTI hit those numbers.
Everyone was getting bad times. I’ve gotten much better on the street via Dragy
@@JVette01 gotcha ya mid 13s should be standard for the Mk8. I've seen low 13s too.
Is the 2023 faster than the 2022? I feel like mine isn't as fast for some reason, I really want to tune it but I don't want to void my warrenty
It should be the same
Get an APR Plus tune
Just got my mk8 gti manual as a commuter. Its a fun little car to throw around.
I agree!
They run consistent 13.7s with max performance summer tires. The stock tires are not the best, alot of wheel hop which kills your 60 foot time. So upgrading tires makes a world of difference. Nice runs tho sir🙏🏼🔥
Thanks! I might get summer tires in the future. These tires will probably last a really long time though
I have a 2022 GTI autobahn it came with performance tires.
@@PapiAndrey 100mph slower trap than it should be 😆
@@ms3ben 😂 I’m struggling to understand what I was trying to say
I ran 13.8 (DCT) on 200TW tires with Stratified Stage 1 tune (274 lb/ft torque) but had MASSIVE wheel hop. But the temp was also 105 degrees :(
Nice....:) The car with track tires aka UTQG 200 and good launch should be able to hit 13.6 and 105 trap. I think you spun your tires the whole first gear. Too much powaaa...:) What was that grey car in front of you...running 10.XX?
Yeah I did spin in 1st. That was an Audi RS3!
@@JVette01 I thought the same it look like RS3. Almost bought one 2 years ago , but they are very cramped and have a sun/moonroof standard and no hatch in US. :) Not an option for 6.4 270 lbs guy. :) Backseat space is horrible on RS3. MK8 GTi S is just perfect everywhere.
RS3 WAS INFRONT
Do you plan on modding the car in terms of horsepower?
Maybe a tune eventually
What mode is the car in sport? I’ve found that sport mode is very limiting and putting it in the custom mode with the star makes a big difference. Also your traction control is killing your power
Yeah I can see your in the wrong mode bro lol I have a mk8 as well and it took me a few months to realize!! Try putting it into the custom star mode and give it another go. With stickier tires and maybe modulating your wheel spin a little better you could get into the mid 13s
I’ll have to give that a try!
@@JVette01 it changes the gearing of the transmission significantly. Let me know if you notice a difference
Thats mk7 stage 2 is a joke it supposed to be trapping around 112-114mph. I hope with a stage 1 tune the mk8 can do that ..
Everyone was getting terrible times. I think he normally traps around 108 in better weather
@@JVette01 facts man. I know..my stock 14 GT was quick..but my brother's stage 2 mk7 was giving me a hard time. With a Lund 93 tune my GT did better and left him . I trapped 12.4 @ 112 in the worst conditions such as a passenger ..exhaust in trunk. Bald tires launched from the shoulder (used dragy app) so without those factors I could have probably done a 12.2 @115/116 . Unfortunately lost the 14 GT..and was about to consider a 19-21 10 speed which without a doubt will trap 118-120 bone stock decent conditions. But in my life right now I can't do that so considering going back to vw with a DSG mk8 S. First car was a mk6 gti back in 2015. So this should be fun. And your buy out video for the mk8 was very well done!
@@youngrios Thanks!
I need one of these 😅
Get one!
How did you do compared to the mk7.5?
He has more power but due to the conditions I’d normally start out similar or quicker and he’d run me down
@@JVette01 It sounded like he had like 330 hp or so and it looked like he could barely keep up with you (if that was the stage2 7.5 at the end). Kinda crazy if you ask me, I though stage 2 gtis were really fast.
It was strictly because of the launch. If you look at the trap speed difference you can tell he’s making a lot more power. A roll race would give it away.
Excited to see the mk8s finally are getting ecu tuned. I tuned my mk7.5R with no other mods and it ripped off 12.3 at 108mph and a 0-60 of 3.9s more then happy haha. Edit: On the street with dragy.
@@velocitywot9573 Nice!
When you ran your best time, were you using launch control? I have a dsg S with Goodyear and all I'm getting is wheel spin, power cut, and rear end squat.
I use launch control just cause it’s easy, but you can test different methods and see what works best for you.
