  • A quick review of the Summit Fishing Equipment Lowrance ActiveTarget Pole for the boat. It's been a great addition to the boat and works great. Holds the Transducer the way I would like it and is very stable and solid.

    I don't mind my summit for jigging/casting, but trolling doesn't work. I run the Scotty mounts ball just like in the video, but I'm going to do some mods and try to get it solid enough for trolling.

      I’m in the same boat. I parked my pole and went back to the ghost shaft mount for what I like to do. Only downside is anchor mode but once you know where they are and how they are reacting it’s still relatively easy to pick off a hole one by one. And with the ghost it’s pretty easy to scroll around and back to anchor in seconds vs manually on the pole. Depends what your target is I guess. The pole will get it’s use in the winter with its legs that’s all so no money wasted. Looking back though I’d have dug deeper into different poles before this one. I’d rank it a mid level. Not garbage but not super great. It’s one of those things I should of paid more for to have something accommodate the rest of the over priced electronics better for its ultimate use. Lol

      Summit makes a nice stabilizer plate to solve for this. Should help out keeping the pole stable while trolling less than 8 mph. cheers!

    Could you explain where to turn the transducer for each mode? Thanks

    • @BulatOutdoors
      @BulatOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Down would be where the middle face is 90 degrees to the pole
      Forward is 2 clicks up. The cord entering the transducer is at the back.
      Scout mode would be with the transducer in down mode and then flip up the angle to flatten out the transducer with the metal dot (Temp Sensor) facing up

    Does the Scotty ball mount not secure firmly enough where the pole is still a little shaky when deployed? Is this an issue when using the active target or is there a fix you found? Thank you.

    Do you troll with it? If you do does it stay tight and not move or loosen up will moving?

    • @BulatOutdoors
      @BulatOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      I’ve used it bottom bouncing at 0.8 - 1.2 mph and it was ok. I had in forward mode facing backwards watching my lure and the strikes.
      I would say it worked “ok”. It would move at times and I’d have to readjust it. I haven’t used trolling with my downriggers at a higher speed.

  • @onefifty8pt
    @onefifty8pt 2 роки тому

    Thanks - really considering this mounting system. Did you use the 1.5 or 2.5" ball mount? It seems to be moving around quite a bit at 1:23 on right side video. Is this because you didn't have it fully tightened?

    • @BulatOutdoors
      @BulatOutdoors  2 роки тому +2

      It’s the 1.5” ball. Because I kept moving it for the video I don’t have it cranked down fully. It’s pretty solid.
