A bit more than the previous model, more reliable than 2000-2012 an especially that the newer Toyotas aren't as reliable as before, giving Chevy the opportunity to get in the lightspot now. I have a 2013 Malibu for 2 years an a half and it never broke own. I neeed to clean the AC because of our enless sanstorms and I fixed a small problem (that was a known issue by the bran, they fixed it for free). Can't say I will complain about this ride.
The verdict is in and ford fusion wins. Best looking, nice upscale interior with very quiet cabin, superb ride and handling, only model that offers AWD option, safety features galore, nice sound system especially in Titanium model where the sony system is off the charts, good gas mileage, large trunk space...etc. Honda and Toyota fan boys just can't accept the fact that the fusion is so highly rated because they are so biased and uninformed. They bash American cars like its the 80's still. They are afraid to actually test drive the fusion because they may actually have to admit they were wrong about the make and model they love to bash. Times, they are a changing.
+Mike Utoober All brands do this, why would you bring your base model car when our trying to show it off? Go big or go home, it also costs way to much to purchase several high end models just for one event.
I agree but thats how they do these events, look at the supper duty event not to long ago. The Ford was towing the least amount of weight whiles the Chevy and Ram haul more making the Ford look better. I think its a waste doing it this way but thats how car brands do it.
it is, it invalidates the comparison completely for me and i just think that company isnt confident in their product enough to match trim levels or such
IKR, you can buy a fusion with 2.0 turbo and 240hp. I got the 1.5 with 181hp, kinda wish I'd gotten the Titanium. Edit: damn UA-cam algorithm, recycling old content.
@@Rob165x my work car has the 1.5t I liked the way the fusion drove and handled so I got the 2.0t. Its way better, i have the AWD one with 19 inch wheels, it feels like a sports car compared to the 1.5t. First car I owned that I'd consider fun
The camry with the 6 speed and paddle shift is actually the fun one to drive. Like the accord families and generations of people have been brought up on the camry also.
I had an 08 Malibu from new for 10 years. Put 165K on it before I traded it in for a used 17 Impala. The Malibu was quite reliable for me and aged well too. Sometimes I miss it. Until I get in my Impala.
+Jeff K No, the Fusion offers a 1.5t I4 just like the new 2016 Malibu.. But you do have to pay extra for it (the 2.5L I4 is standard on the Fusion). These are all base model vehicles and the Malibu comes standard with the turbocharged engine.
Malibu is still more powerful though I think. . I'm pretty sure the ecoboost in the fusion is still 240hp. not sure fusion is a good looking car though but the new Malibu takes the cake for me
For those who lament the absence of the Passat and the Mazda6: They tested the best selling midsize cars, the main competitors (in numbers) of the Malibu. New VWs and Mazdas test very good as new cars, but as they age, not so much... (I got an '08 Honda Accord and a '12 Mazda5 in my driveway - and the Mazda feels like the older car of the two at less than half the mileage)
If I were to buy a new car, I would invest my money in either the new Accord or Camry. Both are excellent long lasting cars. Since I currently own a Camry I would probably go with the Camry even though I don't care for the grill.
+Jeff K Honestly I think it depends on the trim level and bottom line the dealer would sell for in order to determine the value of which is nicer. I do however love how Hondas drive over toyotas. Hondas have a more lively feel that makes it feel more of a "drivers" car.
I have worked on all of these except for the Malibu... Of the ones that i have worked on i REALLY like the Fusion. From the drivers seat back is HUGE. I really like it, its a sexy car. I cant wait to see the new Malibu. American car quality has Skyrocketed within the last 5 years its amazing. I can finally be happy to say that i love American Cars and not have to worry about other countries thinking they are all garbage... Because they just aren't anymore.
Seems like Chevy did a little stacking of the deck in terms of the competition. Put in a high end Malibu, a low-end Accord (LX, not EX), and a mid-lower end Camry (SE, not LX or XLE). And holy cow, where's the Mazda6 in all of this. A Mazda6 Touring would come in ~26K and make a quick mop up of most of the competition! If I'm spending $26K, I'm looking at the Accord, Camry, and the Mazda6, and I'm going home with the Mazda.
Doesn't it feel like each time they redesign the Malibu we hear from the automotive press that it's "ready to compete with the japanese, korean automakers" but always falls short?
Nice comparison given the situation! Although I do agree that it's significantly better than the old version; personally I'm not really a fan of the new styling either inside or out, so my favorite is still the Fusion. I would be curious to see how this Malibu stacks up against the Fusion 1.6L or the Malibu 2.0 vs the Fusion 2.0 just for grins.
Fusion is excellent. They sold well. Thing is all are having trouble selling cars. That's why Ford dropped Fusion. We had a Fusion hybrid that was excellent! Miss it. We have a newer F150, Ranger & Eacape hybrid in driveway. All are excellent!
I went from 2014 Malibu to a 2016 malibu and love it , I test driven the 2018 camry and didn't like it. Car felt heavy and I didn't like the engine! Ima malibu owner now
In fact since 2013 Ford Fusion is the best design best engine and the best interior. I’m a young one and I say that any of this cars can compete with the Ford Fusion adding a turbo “girls love it”
These are resale values(average) that I compiled from craigslist. Owners prices...not dealers. These are base models and cars being 3 years old. Prices are in Canadian 2013 honda accord lx $21,000 2013 toyota camry le $18,500 2013 ford fusion s $14,500 2013 chev malibu ls $14,800 only one in my area These car are very close in pricing upon initial purchase.
What I find remarkable and unusual for a comparison is that there were no true comparable trim levels. The Honda, for example, was entry level and five grand less in price; when the comparable trim would have been the EX which is 185bhp- available in both a six speed manual and six speed automatic for two grand less. What is remarkable is that the entry level LX scored almost as well as the Malibu. Judging by the other comments, everyone noticed Chevy's underhanded strategy. Now if they'd just figure out that it's the underhandedness that keeps them from selling cars.
I own the 2014 Accord LX and believe it or not, I have been able to get 32m.p.g. on the street and up to 42 m.p.h. on the highway. How? By driving like a 90-year-old! Honest! I kept driving at 55 on the highway and at 25 on the street for several days.
toyota or honda for the win. its not even a contest. toyota for the best reliability and value for the money or honda for all points mentioned about the toyota but an upgraded build quality.
I think American sedan cars are really good in the last 3-5 years. There is the Chevy Malibu, Ford Fusion, Dodge Charger which all of them are great looking with great cabin isolation and restful rides. I personally prefer the Dodge Charger because its more styled like a European car with 8 shifts gear box. I would pick the Ford Fusion if the infotainment system updated with Sync 3. The Malibu I hope one day I try it then I will make up my mind☺️. Great video Roman & TFL team as always. Greetings from Saudi Arabia ✋🏼
+feduo45465 Actually the Charger doesn't compete in this segment, the Dodge Avenger was the car in this segment (not sure if it is still sold) and the Chrysler 200 would be the other car from that company. Also the Charger out of the 3 is the least European like car.... it is big, brash, and RWD......
you can get the Malibu LTZ 2.0T with the 8 speed also. great looking car. I saw the review they did on it. weird though they said 259hp and 289tq but the book I read at the dealership on the 16 Malibu with the 2.0t said 305tq so idk
He's impressed with the new Malibu because, you know this comparison test was set up by none other than Chevy. Of course you could see the uneven car trim levels and uneven pricing...the Fusion SE, Accord LX, Camry SE all well below $26K against the almost $28K Malibu. 🙄
every time I see an European or Japanese auto show they always make fun of American cars and paste false results but when I see an American auto show they always admire foreign cars
While I actually like the look of the new Malibu it still holds no candle to the Accord, you have to admit Accord does everything right, speed, price, economy, driving dynamics close to the Mazda6 and a fast V6 option that will leave almost anything in its class. As again the styling is Sexy however your also battling against history which in case does not play a + for the Malibu.
this is the Malibu LT so it comes with a rear view camera and sirrus radio are the two things you get over the base, but they checked the "safety" option in order to get the "forward collision alert " package which added 2000 dollars to the price...the "premier" starts at 32k and you can add bunch of options so this is the mid level car since they offer two levels below and two above they have the L, LS, LT1,LT2, and the Premier
Chevy really should've sent a Fusion w/ Ecoboost to make it a fair mashup, I would love to see a mashup w/ the 2 turbo engines. Up until I bought my Jeep last month I drove only ford the last 15yrs, but I wanted a real off-road SUV and ford doesn't offer that. I think overall in the above tested, the new Chevy looks the best.
Give me Camry or Accord!! Easy on the eyes, good on gas, not a lot of fuss/dealer visits for repairs/breaking my wallet (BMW, literally), great resale values/trusted.
It should be noted that SYNC 3 is *WAY* better than the old My Ford Touch. And I find it funny that GM got the non-turbo Fusion to go against their Turbo Malibu. And of course the competitors are lower trim models.
since its a Chevy sponsored event, its a given that GM would supply base model trims of their competitors. The biggest difference is that Ford also offers a turbo 1.5L on the Fusion which is slightly stronger than GM's 1.5L turbo yet gets around the same fuel economy. Then again GM only has 2 engine options for the Malibu while Ford offers 3 options. A year or two ago Ford offered nearly 4 different engine options which was odd (2.5L, 1.5L, 1.6L and the 2.0L)
I think Ill stick with my 2014 Malibu. they should of kept the front end from 13 to 15 and gave it the 16 rear end. The new malibus front end looks depressed.
Too much preoccupation with acceleration, sportiness, passion - blah blah blah. If you want an M series or an AMG, buy one. For what it's worth, I have a 2011 Accord LX. Everything about it is great EXCEPT for road noise and engine noise when accelerating. The new one (in your test) sounds quieter. The new Malibu also sounds smooth & quiet - I will say: almost Lexus-like. That makes it a strong contender for my next car. By the way, the out-going Malibu (which you dismiss & disparage) was also smooth, quiet and a good seller.
I love how they give him the non turbo boosted ford and mention how it doesn’t have a turbo , but wait they totally could have given you the fusion eco boost aka ( turbo )
when the ford fusions first came out, they had the back end of a 4th gen prelude, and the front end lights of a 5th gen prelude..very revolutionized indeed....
@@brandonhernandez9260 I had 94,000 on my Fusion before I traded it for an other one. Nothing was wrong with it ran great was the first time I was sad letting go of a car even though I had a newer version. I got the Energi and love it saving 100.00 a month on gas!
I sense some trickery with trim levels there. Accord LX is the base Accord, Camry SE is the "sporty" Camry, Fusion SE is the mid-level volume trim as is the LT on the Malibu. An Accord EX would have been closer to that Malibu in price and option content as would a Camry LE.
I bet the new Chevies will last more than the new Toyotas. Ford .... idk. And yes, I love Chevy the most but I can not lie, Honda is the longest lasting
The Honda Accord is basically a Japanese BMW 3 series from a driving standpoint, both cars have been on Car n Drivers 10 Best car list More than Any other cars on the planet, as an Accord owner Myself ,I agree.
Hi Bill. This post is two years old, but I wonder if you still have your Honda. I bought a 17 touring last year. I didn't become an enthusiast until a few years ago and spent most of my life knowing nothing about cars. I get infatuated with cars and I want to absorb them all. But when I needed a car, I needed the most reliable out there with good handling. I analyzed spec for spec all the cars, including the mazda 6. If you correspond enough, and read enough comments, you'll see that Honda produces a great product for the money. The other cars depreciate quick. Anyway, hope you have time for a hello.
Hi Plot. Thanks very much for commenting. What would you suggest over the accord? I own an accord but I became an enthusiast by watching these videos. I'm the kind of guy now who likes all cars. I like the fusion, mazda, honda, camry, bmw, mustang......on and on. I like them all. My neighbor has a six and I like that too. My situation was I needed a reliable car and I needed something to retain its' value. I have the touring and there are great things I like about it. On the other hand, I like a lot of attributes of other cars too. Do you have a suggestion? My next step is to get tinted windows and a pin stripe. Perhaps you have some pointers. Anyway, thank you very much and I hope to hear a reply.
Paul Dwyer Sorry for the late reply , anyways I referred to a Honda as a non- enthusiast car due to it being regarded as a family sedan . Most “enthusiasts” will go for a lighter , faster , more aerodynamic vehicle . Most hardcore enthusiasts will go amongst the likes of a manual 911, or a Shelby gt350. This is because this cars are fast , handle well , retain value , Naturually aspirated motors ( better sound,no turbo lag).... if your trying to improve your driving experience , I would recommend a cold air intake, exhaust , or a tune( all 3 of these things could be installed for less then $3,000)Depending on your dealership, these modification will most likely not void your warranty and in return , will make your car faster , better throttle response and will bring you a lot of enjoyment driving on a daily basis .
Hello Plot. Thanks so much for the response. Wow, you know your cars!! I didn't know you can do that stuff with an accord. If I had the money, I'd do it but my car payment is pretty steep as it is. I love the Shelby but I can't afford that either, and don't know how to use a stick. I've written on other threads and I keep making a point, which I'll make again with your comments: The people that write on these threads like you, know WAY MORE than the hosts in the videos. I've watched lots of these videos and I got all my info from commenters like you. Some of these hosts know very little, but there is one that is really good and the channel is called Savagegeese. This guy knows his stuff. If I have lots of money in ten years, I'll buy a muscle car. The 2017 accord is very good for reliability and handling. I just have 42 more payments to make. Thanks for commenting.
The Ford is in noway the best looking I'd say the Honda or the Malibu, the Fusion is beyond overrated now and a bit dated. I like the fresh styling of the Malibu it looks like something a bit more premium I think they did a great job. Great video keep up the hard work.
+YZ Army Why not an Accord? CVT and road noise come to mind. The Accord Sport is pretty cool (and a great value) but has a lot of limitations on options. There are compromises to be made when buying a car and not everybody has the same priorities.
Notice the absence of a Mazda 6 in the Chevy provided list of competitors. While the sales numbers of the 6 are, unfortunately, not threatening to the "mainstream" sedans, its styling, performance, fuel efficiency, driving dynamics and safety put all others to shame. Too bad more of the public keep voting with their wallets for boring family sedans instead of choosing the sexy Mazda 6!
got my Honda accord sport Canadian with Honda sensing for $29,800cdn before tax. Best bang for the buck. As for CVT haters, honda builds the best one. Once you learn how to drive it, it works well. The secret is using the engines powerband. Off the line it is slugish but 25kpm to 75kpm it just goes and feels like a V-6. Closest competitor is the Mazda 6. I believe this car is gem. My only fault with the car is audio quality during FM radio.
This doesn't take into account many key ownership factors, like previous experience, resale value, quality, and the price/deal you can strike at a dealer.
2016 Malibu came out in China a couple days ago. I really love its design, the Bose speaker and the interior. I would choose Malibu. The other cars are great too. But there are tons of Accord and Camry outside the streets.
The Ford Fusion and Mazda 6 (not here) are the ones to beat. I like everything that they've done with the new Malibu, I just don't get the bump in price despite its base model going down in power.
I got the 2016 Malibu lt 1.5 and love it, had to get used to the auto start stop. But this car is peppy with the turbo and fun to drive. I also get compliments all the time about the look of it. I’m pleasantly surprised. My only complaint is the size of the gas tank. If the turbo is kicking in all the time it can eat that gas up quick but I enjoy the feeling of it so much! lol. I used to have a 2016 Nissan Ultima 4 cl cvt before totaling it. But interior didn’t look as nice and it felt way heavier and bulkier. The cvt was an odd feeling and I understand most car makers are going that direction for fuel economy but I like the fact the the Malibu has the automatic fuel ejected transmission it feels better to me than a cvt. It’s personal preference of course.
The all-new 2016 Malibu is thoughtfully designed to offer impressive safety, exceptional efficiency and seamless connectivity. It’s ready to change your perception of what a midsize car can be. No wonder Malibu has been named “Most Dependable Midsize Car” by J.D. Power
I think that people would buy the Malibu if they would just use a base 2.5 L motor in there with the top end model Malibu having a 2.5 L Turbo. I don't like when car makers give you an option of a 4 cyl and the turbo option comes with the next smaller motor. That sucks. Ends up being slightly more powerful than the non turbo. I remember when Subaru had the 2.5 and the 2.5 turbo.
Roman, Honda fanboy or not that was entertaining to watch. It's good to know that the Accord is not your 1 night stand type of car but you would have to fight me for her hand in marriage.
id choose the fusion. i know it might not be known to be as reliable as the toyota or honda but im not that kind of person that keeps cars for more than 4-5 years tops so it doesnt matter. honda and toyota are just boring looking imo.
I do like the fords Interior I think it was the best of them all but I hate fords front and rear looks. I used to drive a 2012 Fusion Hybrid I loved the look of the car and the style of it the interior was fantastic too would have to drive it for 6 to 8 hours a day but never got tired of the way the seats felt and was most comfortable. I get to drive a 2015 chey Malibu it is a base model decent car but would love to have a 2012 ford fusion again.
the exterior is nice, but the interior is just ok in my opinion. it can never beat the Mazda 6, Kia optima, and Hyundai sonata. American car has improved a lot these days, but overall, still a little bit behind Japanese and even Korean in this segment. And I agree with other people that this competition is not fair. :). TFLC.
+guy proulx I agree. In 6 months the GM car will need a signal light replacement and rust would have already started forming on the frame. Such a shame too because I want to support an American car company.
I own a 2.0 ecoboost Fusion it is the best car I have ever owned. it's funny how the Malibu is turbo and the Fusion is not yet it is available. it would have slaughtered all of them. I got my car brand new in 2013 and I have yet to have any problems. still has enormous power and great gas mileage
The main problem I have with the new Malibu is it's small 15.8 gallon fuel tank. The smallest in the class. It's OK with the 1.5 engine but with the 2.0 liter it's just way too small. That engine doesn't get any better real world fuel economy than everyone else's V6 engines. In fact less than most. Plus, to get the most out of it you need premium fuel. I don't know about most of you here, but I don't want to go to the gas station every 300 miles. Especially in the cold winter months. This car is the largest in its class so there is no reason that there is not the space for a larger fuel tank.
Camry still accepts & holds benchmark in this market however latest Malibu though an improvement 4cyl powerplant has good pickup & low end power however the range toping powerplant lies the downsides bec it has not enough spunk of torque to power rev levels. Additionally the most marketable criterial improvement for Malibu becomes currb weight. 200 - 300 lbs lighter to almost lightest in segment or at least right there with Accord & Camry
I have a 2018 Malibu 2.0. Basically the same as the one tested. We love it. Other than that, The Fusion is nice. I like the Camry.. That would be my 3rd. Choice. Our Malibu real " Kicks" l mean, it Ain't a ES 300 or 350 ( Lexus) but we love it. Ours is loaded, l have XM, Android etc.etc. Great Car, handsome 😍 handles Well. We get snow here in Cincinnati and it's hilly. Better than others.
I cant be only person who saw the leather was not lined up properly on the steering wheel? I just see that coming loose. I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 (the new redesigned model) and its more premium in my opinion and fit and finish is better. The Malibu is by no means a bad car, its just still not at the top.
Turbos seem to be the preferred solution these days to provide what I consider "adequate" power to a family sized sedan, and I hate turbos. They are troublesome, and they force a smaller engine to work too hard, accelerating the wear that eventually leads to expensive repairs. Give me a straight six, or even an eight, both of which are infinitely more durable. New cars are insanely expensive, and I don't think you get your money's worth in any of them. If you want leather, that adjusts a dozen ways, buy a recliner. If you want a car, buy a used six, or V-8, and you'll have plenty of money left to buy gas. 30K for a four cylinder car. That is truly laughable.
Does the Camry not have a V6 anymore. I know with the camrys I'm behind the time the Camry we have is a 94 and the LE and XLE had a optional V6 and the SE came with a standard V6
the Ford was the ugliest, the toyota was decent looking and had a nice shape but the front is kinda ugly, the honda has a nice premium look to it, and the malibu honestly looked the best
3:00 the only sound I hear is that 2.5. Thought it would've been the 1.5L, but Roman, you can't say that the Fusion doesn't have turbos. They have a 1.5L FWD and a 2.0L FWD/AWD. The only AWD midsize in the segment! 6:38 the accord's cvt was totally retuned. It sounds nice actually. 9:07 after all that I'd do that!!! 10:29 Saw a little engine lag, but the Camry does sound nice. Better than the Accord, but not as good as the Fusion. 12:14 that camry sounds great even holding at redline! Still not as good as the Fusion! 15:08 chevy run away scared against the Fusion on a dragstrip. Even with the 2.5. 17:41 chevy still is crap no matter what they build.
I spend a lot of time in Europe and must say the Fusion there ( mondeo ) looks better and feels much better than it is in the US. It has daytime lights, and LED all round. My problem with the Malibu is it does not know what it wants to be- is it a Passat or Fusion because styling wise GM needs to stop copying its competitors and start being original, look closely and see my point. Nonetheless the video was done well and as usual I enjoyed the info.
I definitely disagree. I always thought this latest fusion was one of the ugliest cars around. It looks like a fish especially with those lines in the hood. Having said that, the front on the Malibu isn't the prettiest either, however it is an all around good looking car. That Camry is a very ugly car though.
We had a Fusion rental for a few days. The rear seat belts gave my daughter headaches. Other vehicles with poorly designed rear seats have had the same effect on her.
+wcjeep The Fusion is one of the few vehicles anyone can purchase with optional inflatable rear seatbelts. As for the headaches, I find that interesting although you said it happens in other vehicles. You might want to take her to a doctor.
+zip89105 only poorly designed rear seats. When the rear seat belt rubs her neck area she is affected. As she gets taller this issue will go away. I state this issue for those with kids legally able to ride with no booster seat but lack enough height to overcome a Ford design flaw. She has ridden in other Ford vehicles with no problem. She was affected by a few Nissan's. Mazda's and Honda's had zero effect. Have not test driven many Toyota's.
Accord miles ahead in interior it's way more upscale looking than the other 3 cars inside. I would say exterior it's between the two Americans for best looking with the Camry clearly finishing last. The reality is that the Honda and Toyota will still last way longer than their American counterparts. I like American automobiles but they always did SUVs and large cars better than midsize cars.
+Gonzalo Alvarez I owned a few Nissan's and have something of a soft spot for them. That said, I feel like the current Altima seems to be build a little lighter (it was the lightest in its segment for a while) and nothing in it other than maybe the seats seemed quite up to standard. The engine is OK but the CVT can annoy. I don't like Nissan's steering wheel controls and the suspension seems (on rental grade trims at least) bouncier than Camry SE or their own previous generation Maxima. Have had some amazingly great MPGs on the Altima though.
"Chevy flew me down here to test-"
looks like the chevy is going to win...
I thought that at first but admit it, the new Malibu kicksass and is a great rival
DarknoorX yeah, it definitely does compete.
BlueLizard87 how much and how reliable
Fusions are garbage.
We have a xtream fan boy here
so chevy gets you a base model of every car but the malibu, hmmm seems like they are rigging this and trying to win but failing
+Mike Utoober All brands do this, why would you bring your base model car when our trying to show it off? Go big or go home, it also costs way to much to purchase several high end models just for one event.

The Malibu in this review is also the 1.5L base model like the other cars reviewed.
The Fusion has a turbo charger as well. Overall this video is biased, bummer.
Unfortunately that's what happens when one manufacturer dictates what competition is.
IKR, you can buy a fusion with 2.0 turbo and 240hp. I got the 1.5 with 181hp, kinda wish I'd gotten the Titanium.

I would prefer the Toyota Camry. I would go for the LE 4 cylinder model.
The camry with the 6 speed and paddle shift is actually the fun one to drive. Like the accord families and generations of people have been brought up on the camry also.

Malibu is still more powerful though I think. . I'm pretty sure the ecoboost in the fusion is still 240hp. not sure fusion is a good looking car though but the new Malibu takes the cake for me
The Ford Fusion is the best for me! It has AWD as an option! Love that feature!
Agreed. Since they canceled it we've just gone w/Escape Hybrid. Had 2 already! Phenomenal crossovers.
Almost every car is nice off the lot. Give it a couple of years and Accord and Camry still gets the same approval as it had from Day 1.
+Bobby0345
Accords are nicer
+Jeff K Honestly I think it depends on the trim level and bottom line the dealer would sell for in order to determine the value of which is nicer. I do however love how Hondas drive over toyotas. Hondas have a more lively feel that makes it feel more of a "drivers" car.
I really enjoy you're videos bobby0345
I'd go for the accord touring
Exactly. I buy Toyota cars because of super cheap maintenance and reliability
I really enjoyed driving the Malibu and fusion
Can't decide which to get
Fusion all the way
where is the 2016 mazda 6?
+jamesgjt as well as subaru legacy and volkswagen passat
legacy?? the interior has those fake wood and looks ugly VW passat?? that car looks older than my grandma and the TDI is not cheated....
It broke down
chevy didn't provide one.
+jamesgjt it's being recalled for issues with the motor
Prices are in Canadian
2013 honda accord lx $21,000
2013 toyota camry le $18,500
2013 ford fusion s $14,500
2013 chev malibu ls $14,800 only one in my area
These car are very close in pricing upon initial purchase.
Honest! I kept driving at 55 on the highway and at 25 on the street for several days.
hondas feel honest. thats why me and members of my family will continue to purchase hondas.
toyota or honda for the win. its not even a contest. toyota for the best reliability and value for the money or honda for all points mentioned about the toyota but an upgraded build quality.
Toyota is wa? That was ages ago buddy
Greetings from Saudi Arabia ✋🏼
l love charger 2
+feduo45465 Actually the Charger doesn't compete in this segment, the Dodge Avenger was the car in this segment (not sure if it is still sold) and the Chrysler 200 would be the other car from that company.
Also the Charger out of the 3 is the least European like car.... it is big, brash, and RWD......
+feduo45465 Sync 2 sucks. I bought a 2015 F-150 hoping it would have the Sync 3.....nope. It's aggravating that they're waiting so long
you can get the Malibu LTZ 2.0T with the 8 speed also. great looking car. I saw the review they did on it. weird though they said 259hp and 289tq but the book I read at the dealership on the 16 Malibu with the 2.0t said 305tq so idk
"Dodge charger "European styling" do not go in the same sentence.
Ford Fusion is the best!
Till it breaks down
Camry is one of the most reliable! I love it!
He's impressed with the new Malibu because, you know this comparison test was set up by none other than Chevy.
Of course you could see the uneven car trim levels and uneven pricing...the Fusion SE, Accord LX, Camry SE all well below $26K against the almost $28K Malibu.
🙄
Ain't that crazy? That's why Chevy is best!
Every automaker sets it up like that
every time I see an European or Japanese auto show they always make fun of American cars and paste false results
but when I see an American auto show they always admire foreign cars
While I actually like the look of the new Malibu it still holds no candle to the Accord, you have to admit Accord does everything right, speed, price, economy, driving dynamics close to the Mazda6 and a fast V6 option that will leave almost anything in its class. As again the styling is Sexy however your also battling against history which in case does not play a + for the Malibu.
But the Accord will fall apart....and looks like crap
this is the Malibu LT so it comes with a rear view camera and sirrus radio are the two things you get over the base, but they checked the "safety" option in order to get the "forward collision alert " package which added 2000 dollars to the price...the "premier" starts at 32k and you can add bunch of options so this is the mid level car since they offer two levels below and two above they have the L, LS, LT1,LT2, and the Premier
So true, I grew up with the accord, 2001, 2006 2010 and now the 2014!
Love that they gave you the ford without the 1.6 ecoboost. Clearly padding the deck there gm
It would’ve been the 1.5 Ecoboost in 2016. But yeah Chevy tried to downplay the other cars in features and present a fully loaded Malibu 1.5 turbo lol
I'll take the Accord in a heartbeat for its longetivity.
They are all excellent! Your not gonna keep the car 15yrs. Let's be honest. Besides good maintenance would make any last 15yrs.
Give me Camry or Accord!! Easy on the eyes, good on gas, not a lot of fuss/dealer visits for repairs/breaking my wallet (BMW, literally), great resale values/trusted.
Transmission specialist told me he sees CVT transmissions fail after only fifty thousand miles.
jshaggy26 on the Nissan Altima they do, im a witness of that
It should be noted that SYNC 3 is *WAY* better than the old My Ford Touch.
Thats because Your gay and you Like Gay Cars, The damn thing has a Front Splitter
I am pricing out a new 16 Malibu in a few weeks. Ive driven the 16 Limited and this 16 1LT and the turbo does move!
would have liked to seen the mazda 6 compared to it... i think the new Malibu and mazda 6 are the top of this class now.
Chevy is paying you to do this review. Of course your going to make the other cars look bad,by pointing out the flaws
I love how they give him the non turbo boosted ford and mention how it doesn’t have a turbo , but wait they totally could have given you the fusion eco boost aka ( turbo )
And yet it still doesn’t have as much HP as the Malibu!! 🤣🤷🏼♂️
when the ford fusions first came out, they had the back end of a 4th gen prelude, and the front end lights of a 5th gen prelude..very revolutionized indeed....
Out of all these cars the Ford Fusion hands down. Best quality and best looks. Could be biased tho since theres a 2017 Fusion sport on the driveway!
J Smith how many miles do you have on your fusion? Getting a new car this week in a few days and I really like the fusion and Malibu
Brandon Hernandez Get an Accord.
That gm Chevy Malibu and the Ford Fusion aren't going to last you as long as the accord or Camry
I bet the new Chevies will last more than the new Toyotas. Ford .... idk. And yes, I love Chevy the most but I can not lie, Honda is the longest lasting
+DarknoorX yeah
Paul Dwyer A Honda Accord isn’t really a enthusiast car ... actually not at all .
HaB22
Have you seen it in person?
LeatherandLuxury Cars fusion looks better 🤭 🤷🏻♀️
Honda Accord is the best!
Honda wins this hands down. More hp, mpg, and price. Why buy anything else?
camry has lower maintenance costs than acxord
+Pocket PC save money on gas
+YZ Army Why not an Accord? CVT and road noise come to mind. The Accord Sport is pretty cool (and a great value) but has a lot of limitations on options. There are compromises to be made when buying a car and not everybody has the same priorities.
Am i the only one that thinks the Accord was the best looking here? it just looked more high quality to me.
The only problem with Honda's is CVT.
But there are tons of Accord and Camry outside the streets.
the Malibu is also also on the street in tons if you live in the US
The Ford Fusion and Mazda 6 (not here) are the ones to beat.
It's good to know that the Accord is not your 1 night stand type of car but you would have to fight me for her hand in marriage.
id choose the fusion. i know it might not be known to be as reliable as the toyota or honda but im not that kind of person that keeps cars for more than 4-5 years tops so it doesnt matter. honda and toyota are just boring looking imo.
hard choose love Hondas but I heard great things are the fusions and malibus chrysler 300 and 200 and ford taurus and Chevy impala are also great too
Thanks 4 the video, honest review !!! Really enjoyed it
I do like the fords Interior I think it was the best of them all but I hate fords front and rear looks.
The nice big sunroof in the Malibu is really great for that price, interesting video to watch
the exterior is nice, but the interior is just ok in my opinion. it can never beat the Mazda 6, Kia optima, and Hyundai sonata. American car has improved a lot these days, but overall, still a little bit behind Japanese and even Korean in this segment. And I agree with other people that this competition is not fair. :). TFLC.
camry or accord, the others will be money pits in just a few short years
+guy proulx and the recalls are annoying as fuck.
+guy proulx I agree. In 6 months the GM car will need a signal light replacement and rust would have already started forming on the frame. Such a shame too because I want to support an American car company.
***** the funny thing is that most imports that are built in the U.S have more american made parts than the domestics
+Hing holo Every car has recalls. If you think your asian designed car won't have recalls, you're in for a wake up call.
***** "every car has recall"? Check your facts before you type shit.
the Camry's wipers are loud compared to the others
That's because the wipers are really good, taking all the water off the windshield
+Thivakar saravanamuthu there isnt enough rain and wiper speed is too fast thats why.
The Weather looks beautiful
The main problem I have with the new Malibu is it's small 15.8 gallon fuel tank. The smallest in the class. It's OK with the 1.5 engine but with the 2.0 liter it's just way too small. That engine doesn't get any better real world fuel economy than everyone else's V6 engines. In fact less than most. Plus, to get the most out of it you need premium fuel. I don't know about most of you here, but I don't want to go to the gas station every 300 miles. Especially in the cold winter months. This car is the largest in its class so there is no reason that there is not the space for a larger fuel tank.
I rather have the top of the line 2.0t premier model for the malibu because it has all the safety features you can ever think of.
I like the fusion n accord the best
ford fusion the best car!
I would love to see this engine and transmition combo in the new Cruze
I cant be only person who saw the leather was not lined up properly on the steering wheel? I just see that coming loose. I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 (the new redesigned model) and its more premium in my opinion and fit and finish is better. The Malibu is by no means a bad car, its just still not at the top.
Very nice video. Roman, out of all of them, which one do you think has the most power?
That is truly laughable.
he's basically stating that these are the base "engines" not necessarily the base model for all of them.
The sport version of the accord is better looking and outperforms any of these..
Does the Camry not have a V6 anymore. I know with the camrys I'm behind the time the Camry we have is a 94 and the LE and XLE had a optional V6 and the SE came with a standard V6
+British_Leyland(Alexscott100) 4-bangers are standard on all lines of Camry's. The 3.5 6cyl is optional on some trims.
+zip89105 that's how it was in the 92-96 model years I just didn't think they still had the V6
They still have the v6
Ford is definitely not the best looking one
True
***** Wrong. The correct answer was "True".
the Ford was the ugliest, the toyota was decent looking and had a nice shape but the front is kinda ugly, the honda has a nice premium look to it, and the malibu honestly looked the best
honda look the best then malibu then toyota and ford
Subaru legacy has AWD
U think Chevy left out Mazda & Subaru because they didn't want to get waxed off the stage? I do. I'd rather either of those versus any of these.
yeah, the legacy would have dominated this.
I hate that they do a comparison, but have the main car be a top trim level, but the rest will the the base trim.
The Fast Lane Car, Why did you forgot Dodge Charger !
Or is it just the best one and no reasons to compare with it ?
Accord miles ahead in interior it's way more upscale looking than the other 3 cars inside. I would say exterior it's between the two Americans for best looking with the Camry clearly finishing last. The reality is that the Honda and Toyota will still last way longer than their American counterparts. I like American automobiles but they always did SUVs and large cars better than midsize cars.
I'm wondering how would a Nissan Altima fare in there? What would be the pros and cons on that car against the rest?
+Gonzalo Alvarez The Altima is very near to Accord. Both of them use CVT and both of them I don't like ☹️
+Gonzalo Alvarez Altima would have the most supportive and comfortable seats...
the V6 accord doesnt have a cvt transmission.
They should've compared all similar trim levels... We're talking about a mishap in pricing, MPG, HP, features etc...
Not a thorough comparison however Malibu came in 2nd place with Fusion perhaps in 3rd & Accord 4th; As expected Camry 1st place honor
were the wipers on the toyota loud?or is it just me.
Toyota Camry all the way
