Saw him at Darwen in the 70s. A real entertainer and musician. Got this record and 'Folk Songs and Ballands of Lancashire' as well. "Lancashire Mon'" is my favourite - being an 'immigrant' to Staffordshire, the words help me stay sane! :)
I ran a folk club in the early eighties and Harry Boardman was one of the first people I booked. I'd borrowed A Lancashire Mon from the library and recorded it on a TDK C90 (remember them?) and I was determined to see him live. It was a real pleasure. Now my cassette player has given up the ghost and I have to listen to him on UA-cam. Thank you for uploading this.
Up tha lancashire lads!
Thanks very much for these new posts, Jessica. These are hard to get hold of here in the Colonies, and some of us retain our native sympathies and respond very strongly to music like this. All the best to you in the new year, and cheers again. Daniel.
+Novascotian You're welcome! I have another record by him, I will upload it soon!
That would be really great. I've been listening to your posts all day. There are some great things on the McTavish's Kitchen and the Deep Lancashire recordings as well. But Boardman may be my favourite of all of these things. Really nice to hear the old vinyl versions of the Brass Monkey pieces too. Although I feel a terrible nostalgia for the session at McTavish's. A proper tardis is what you really need! Again, many thanks.
+Novascotian You're welcome again. The record is being uploaded right now, so it should be here soon. :)
