    Prick at the performance shop told me direct fit for my 72 chevelle. The rods too short no clevis. And wrong master cylinder push rod. I hate little shops that do anything to make a sale

    You did a great job of engineering this universal brake booster to fit! You should be a car mechanic, if you aren’t already! Only a couple of things... I would have just like to have know, what it was you were adapting this to... an old mid-60s Mercury or Ford I think... Year? Also, would have help to see the pedal and rod. Just something to consider for another vid. The car looked not THAT old... new enough that I would have thoughts parts would still be available by some places... maybe in the U.S.? But maybe like you say... shipping would be exorbitant, and this fix was a lot better way to go. Thanks... very interesting and good video, I like how you thought out, solved, and demonstrated the fix!.

    4:32 I was about to say you should really clamp that before you cut your gut open. 4:36 There it is, hahaha. May actually use some of these ideas for my current project. Was looking into universal brake boosters and master cylinders a lot and your video came up when trying to figure out what threads the brake booster rods are. I like the adapter idea. Didn't think of that.

    Cool stuff man, jusy one bit of advice... dont ruin your bits drilling into wood, move the metal off the wood so the bit doesnt hit the wood. Also get a couple C-clamps to hold your work. Cheaper than a vice. Great vid!

    When you smoke your work like that when you're drilling you're dulling your drill bit. Cut slower and use some oil.

    Where did you get that adapter. Working on a 73 Monte and needed a booster. The one i ordered comes with a clevis but i need an eyelet like that.

      I got it from a local hotrod shop. But speedway parts or summit will have it. Just search brake booster pushrod parts. Also i believe a company called tuff stuff makes it too

    What brake booster did you use and is it mounted to your stock pedal

    • @Wrenchlife604
      @Wrenchlife604  4 роки тому +1

      It is a stock pedal but the pivot point was changed by the previous owner. The car had a older style power brake conversion done to it. The booster i used was just a universal hotrod dual diaphram booster. Think it was a 8"

      Wrench life 604 ok I appreciate it. I need a booster for my Cadillac but no place has them so I will have to go universal as well. The adapter you made, the piece you put in between was what size?? Do you need to space it or was that just needed for your car??

      I needed to for my car. Yours might be diffrent. Good luck and hopefully you get your booster working 👍
