If you could have heard me screaming at my monitor that you needed to get that red fitting to the other end, you wouldn't have had to rebend that first piece. It was good experience, though. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
I was screaming at my monitor also 😂
LOL! I was right there with you
LOL, me too! I kept telling him you just fup.
I'm not worried about your elbows. I'm far more concerned about the great learning experience this channel gives.
Good to hear!
If nothing else, your videos should make people see how much work it is to restore or customize a vehicle and do it right! Good job!
Thanks for the kind words
doing this now on my 66 econoline. complete front to back. thanks for the tips.
I was yelling at my screen, but you couldn’t hear me. “Jeff move the fittings before you bend it, JEFFFFF MOVE THE FITTINGS” 😂 this stuff looks easy and nothing bad happens until you turn the camera on. 😊
Just did my brake lines and did that twice. Flare and no tube nut and bent with no tube nut on the correct end. Arrg!
Sure wish I knew about nicop tubing about 20 years ago. I used stainless steel lines and my hands and arms hurt for days. They were a huge PITA to install.
Jeff, I didn't know that Alvin, Theodore and Simon were shop assistants 😊
I just wrapped up two brake projects on mustangs. Used NiCopp on both. I ended up using AN fittings instead of double flare which cost a bit more, but has zero leaks to chase and looks great too.
I've never thought of using AN fitting that's pretty cool
Great job Jeff
Never done that- great tips
I know you have a vice. Clamp those pliers in it. You were killing me the way you were wrestling with them. I just found your channel, Keep up the good work.
I bought that little hand tool on Amazon for bending lines, but have used smooth bolt in vice to bend them too. Actually, the bolt in vice works better, lol
Oh and another thing as I was watching and thinking about. The thing about YT and the way we do things, those Saturday morning TV shows and the real slick “professional” YT channels, they don’t generally show the mistakes that we know they make, they just show the build going slick, smooth and easy. Oh and a word to the negative comments, most times I’ll go look at their “channel” and they don’t produce videos, just negative comments. I also push back, 😂, I don’t put up with to much BS, they think they can do it better?? Show me.
Agreed my friend
Amen Brother!!!!!
nice job on car and lines
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 😊
Love that flaring jig!
Me too KQ, but expensive for a DIY guy. Shop use would be worth it.
Good job😊
I was first introduced to Ni-cop or as it was called back in the day, 'kunife,' back in the late 70's as a kid building my first car and have been using it ever since. But from what I recall it was invented either by or for the aircraft division of SAAB, the now dead Swedish manufacture for use on carrier based aircraft. Or at least that was the advertising back then.
Patience of Job!
That's what it takes and sometimes I don't have it LOL
The steel tubing with the dark green PVF coating also works well.
What are the chances of getting a master cylinder with the fittings towards the inside facing the engine or one that has them on both sides? Just a thought. Thanks for another awesome video.
As far as a good paint to use that closely matches the OEM color and sheen, I recommend Rustoleum Canyon River Black. It is an enamal paint that I beleive is more durable than a lacquer type paint. I have used it on my 66 Thunderbird with good results. I don't know about Mustangs, but the Thunderbird engine bay is painted the same color as the exterior.

It depends on the car. Most forwards in the midsize range and down were painted the semi flat black.
I just love the Satin finish on the firewalls etc and underneath the car. Looks so good! No drab flat or very shiny gloss, a nice in between.
Ni coop use to be Bundy Flex with the cooper on the inside but for advertising purposes it's the other way around and now you get steam punk.
Great video, you can also use pipe cleaner as a template!...what happened to your elbows ?
What a great Idea and thanks for that.
When joining nicopp to steel lines, what material is best for the flare nuts? Is there a concern about dissimilar materials corroding (galvanic action)?
General, your fittings that Ford used back in the day were brass like the ones we are using. So I don't think there is a concern with galvanic issues.
A lot of shade tree mechanics here talking like they’ve never bent a line with the fitting on the wrong side before. If you’ve never made that mistake you’ve either never made brake lines or you’re a liar.
I have never used nicop line but i will from now on
And you looked at that fitting at least three times!
What brand of flaring tool is that?
IMO, Perfect install videos don't teach you The snags we run into. Snags in install process help us to understand issues that arise and how to overcome them. So thanks Jeff! Will be doing a rear drum to disc in a week or two and and adding a new distribution block with the NPD bracket under the Master.
I was wondering how long it would take you to realize the red fitting was on the wrong side.
Where did you get the flare tool?
Amazon brother
Jeff said it was an old Eastwood product, $$$$$
We’ll both fittings on one end
Camara guy sees you have both fitting on the same side
Cam would have caught that! But good real life issues help the newbies learn.
what flaring tool is that?
Eastwood, he has had it for years. But $$$$$ now. Or you can get the Snap-on one for $10,000 lol
Now would be a good time before you put more stuff in the engine compartment is to fill your steering gear box with grease and to show how it is done.
Just did that Jeff, after many years of not knowing that. lol What a difference is how easier it steers. (Manual Steering), Took over a whole tube of #1 and then some.
If you use pliers to bend the lines use an old set. The twisting motion loosens the joint and harms their primary use…pliers.
Good tip
I find it hard to believe that your shop doesnt have a vise... 🥴
We have one in the other shop. Are problem is is that the shop that we shoot the Mustang stuff in needs to be mobile. Meaning that everything we have in their needs to be able to move around so we can adjust for shooting. I've been noodling on a way to get advice on something big and heavy to put in there
Some guys need s toupee. I'm so bald l need a fourpee! And hey! What's up with your elbow's? Nah! JK😂😂. Sign me:. A broken down old fat man! 😂
Put pliers in vice...stop fighting it.
With the NiCop it actually wasn't that bad of a fight.
Tubing bender anyone?
I was yelling at the screen, why don’t ya use a tube bending tool
Cause I didn't need it. The stainless would require a bender.
@@AutoRestoMod Thennwhybwas it such a struggle? I’ve watched other folk using that tubing and it was no problem. Not a problem, just how it seemed.
Dude, you need to have the correct tools if you plan to show us how it's done!
😂😂😂😂🤡🤡
