Sorry , Crockett died in1836 at the Alamo. He was defeated in his Congressional run by allies of Andrew Jackson. Crockett was against the expulsion of the Cherokee. He said Tennessee could go to Hell and he would go to Texas. 1875 was during the Red River War.

Great video! It's nice to see the small towns along the way that we don't always get a chance to visit.
Just in case anyone is confused, the David Crockett of Texas history died March 6, 1836 at the Alamo.
Crockett County was formed in 1875 and named in honor of David Crockett.

I stopped in Junction one evening just for fuel and ended up writing a song about it, called “Junction, Texas Friday Night.” It’s going on an album I’m working on getting out this winter. Cool little town!

Squawteat Peak reminds me of another, similar place that an online, US friend posted old pics of. She said everyone there called it "Molly's Nipple"... I asked, but she had no idea who Molly was. 😅

We love staying at Pecan Valley RV Park. It's on the frontage road on the west side of I10 and a few miles north of Junction Texas, but considered in Junction Texas. It's a great quiet campground, and they feed the deer in the morning and afternoon, so you get to watch them graze around you.

We take trips from Houston to Big Bend NP at least once a year. These videos along I-10 are so familiar and appreciated. If only it was that time again for another trip out there. The rest areas are always nice here. If we see ya passing through H-town we’ll give ya a wave 👋

What a nice campsite with an incredible view. You lucked out and found some potable water. Yeah, I agree with you. You should run your generator once a month under load. I run my generator every 1-1 1/2 months. I run both heat pumps, small heater and I charge my Bluetti(s). Generator always starts up with no problems. It's cool that you can run off grid without using your generator. I would like to get solar one day. I've been loving your videos for 8 years and I love them even more today. Hug the kitties for me. I wish you safe and enjoyable travels.

@Jurassic Porkchop don't forget to check off places on either side of IH 10 in addition to that park in Junction. We have lots of neat places in the Texas Hill Country that you can day trip to, especially if you can find an inexpensive or free campsite somewhere. You might want to look into a State Park pass. After Junction you could camp out at Schreiner State Park here in Kerrville and day trip to Junction, Llano/Enchanted Rock, Fredericksburg with the Admiral Nimitz Pacific War Museum, Bandera, Camp Verde-The Camel Capital of Texas, Boerne, and of course, San Antonio.

Honestly. No one alive today could survive in 1875 if they were to go back to that time and try to live. It was a harder time to live and you had to be a true murderer to survive. It wasn't happy go lucky lazy times, you had to fight, defend and kill to maintain a stable life. Everyone had to be be a bandit. Everyone had to be a murderer. There was no law to speak of. But back in the 1870s, when you had to carry out your own justice on people, and you couldn't live like you do now, being a nomad, without some serious gun skills because you would always be a target for the local bandits seeing you coming. Even the women had to have serious gun skills. You would be spending most of your day tending farm getting ready for winter, growing your crops and your animals and and keeping farm. Go out to rural Kentucky and other landlocked states and see how the small personal homesteads are being ran today, that is how you would have to survive. I don't think you would enjoy that lifestyle one bit.
