Interesting! I have one of these that I did not know the combination to and was able to open it with the LPL pick technique but was frustrated because I wanted to figure out the combination. I did not have any luck listening or trying to get feedback from the wheels. I was however able to use a pick technique that I have not seen any info on. I have a little pick similar to a dental pick. I was able to snake it in on top of the wheels and find the channel on each wheel. I then moved all 4 simultaneously in the same direction one number at a time until the lock opened. I look forward to revisiting the audible technique, but did not notice the clicks you described when I was working on it previously. Thanks!
Gosh! I have made videos for some locks where I use a thin piece of metal to detect a grove (notch, or sometimes flat section) that all the wheels share, and align them all, and then rotate all the wheels one number at a time and test to see if it opens on each wheel advance. I think you're talking about the same technique, and you did well to figure that out by yourself! Also this video explains it: ua-cam.com/video/NVucdFUi1cw/v-deo.html
Thank you my friend! First time I've picked a lock by ear. :D :D Actually I do have a stethoscope but the clicks are loud enough, and the stethoscope tends to deafen me if the noises are even medium ones so I'll have to leave that for more subtle clicks. :D
The flat side thing worked for mine. I used a thin stiff piece of label from clothing. Carefully found the flat spot above each wheel, and then rotated 5 left. Basically the opposite side of the wheel. It fell open.
@@jessesheffield7878 Saw it on another video. If you can get some light down above each of the wheels, you will see a flat spot. It's on the exact opposite side of where it will open the lock, so you then have to rotate it 5 spots (or 180 degrees). EDIT: I made a video with my video microscope on doing it by looking for the flat spot: ua-cam.com/video/SbzTPMoYZ0I/v-deo.html
No one seems to be doing this particular lock. I have one on an old file cabinet. Must be a pretty good lock because none of the typical experts are doing it.
Another great expo on your skillset. I think you would be the easiest person to recognise at Bunnings. Just look down the lock aisle and look for the person with the combo lock placed next to his ear. lol. Have you won any more prizes from Bunnings or have they banned you from their stores? lol. Cheers:-)
LOL thank you Paul :D :D - well yea it might be unfair if I pick their combo locks if they have any more competitions - not that I've seen any :D Gosh I do like decoding these combo padlocks, but for ping tumblers I've got a *lot* to learn. Thanks for watching and for making me laugh out loud. :D
I just did this with a combo lock for my friend, he said i got to 1000 of the 10,000 possible combos. I went to the tech room split it open with a chisel aligned the gates and went back to the cafeteria and handed it to him lol
There is definitely more than one way to decode it :D ... I found for this lock that it was easier for me to do it "by ear", but others may find your method easier. Thank you for sharing the tip!
Great point! - have to be careful ... and if one (or more) of the correct combination numbers are actually 0 then you'd need to decide there were no clicks on other numbers.
My wife has a very similar lock. Hers is blue and the numbers are printed the other way (the numbers are right side up if the lock is held horizontal). She forgot the combination and was going to throw it away. I decided to try to open it first. After watching your video, I was able to open it based on the play in the numbers. When I got it open, I told her the combination and she was surprised because the numbers didn't mean anything to her. I changed it for her, now it's a number she can remember. Thanks!
I wish this would work for me. 😥 I have the blue BRINKS and while holding it sideways in palm of hand with silver to the left, the numbers are facing towards me. I tried the clicks, I tried the "play"... Not working. Help please? Or I am tossing it! 😥🙏
So funny found one of these beforw getting on a bus after 10 mins of wondering why it wont open I pilled up this video. I literally turned lock upside down and presto. Haha

@ I miss spoke a little, I had not seen that technique used on this lock. Looking forward to trying the audible technique you used in the future!
@@timdunning7724 Hehe ok ... let's know how you get on 😄
Thx for the tips i got the lock open by listening to the clicks
Nice! - I'm glad it worked for you. Well done! :D :D
Thx also for the tips I used the listening to the clicks
Thanks to you my day got happier all cause I listened to these steps
Nice one! :D :D
Very cool - I was never able to decode a lock by ear. If you have a stethoscope you could try getting amplified feedback.

That's fantastic - well done for decoding it! Well done for finding a nice tool to use! :D :D
What do you mean by the flat side trick?

Fantastic - well done on getting it open! :D :D
Very cool lock and awsome decoding my friend
Thank you for watching buddy :D :D
@@Swynndla i can see that you made two comments but i can only read one, did you delete the other one?
Yea sorry I was replying to Potti314 that I watched his video on this lock, but I replied to you by mistake (and so yes I deleted it). :D
@@Swynndla ah ok, but you are welcome to look at my videos too😉👍🇩🇰
On my Brinks lock all the zeroes have the same click. The other numbers do not. My combination was not set to all zeroes.
That will make it difficult to decode for your lock!
No one seems to be doing this particular lock. I have one on an old file cabinet. Must be a pretty good lock because none of the typical experts are doing it.
Cheers. :D Pretty good, but the determined can decode it. :D

I still can’t open mine up
I just did this with a combo lock for my friend, he said i got to 1000 of the 10,000 possible combos. I went to the tech room split it open with a chisel aligned the gates and went back to the cafeteria and handed it to him lol
LOL ... well (of course) it should be able to be done without destroying the lock. :D
@@Swynndla lol
It still works though lol
So you busted it open to find the answer to the numbers? What exactly did you do?
If you put tension on the shackle, and feel for the lose wheels, it's easily pickable
There is definitely more than one way to decode it :D ... I found for this lock that it was easier for me to do it "by ear", but others may find your method easier. Thank you for sharing the tip!
Not anymore it isn't.
Mine doesn’t work 😞😞
it clicks loudest on 0, so it misleads you. Tricky and you have to listen very carefully

Some interesting tips. I havent seen that small combo changing lever on a combo before. Good job decoding again.✌😎
