  • I just got my Pit Boss Pro Series 1600 the other day, so I thought I would put together a video of my initial review, as well as a video of the burn in. I waited until shooting this video to fire up the Pit Boss Pro Series 1600, because I wanted to catch it on video so you guys could witness the operation during the burn in process. My overall intial review is it is a beautiful cooker, and I am absolutely looking forward to getting some cooking videos uploaded in the next few weeks! If you guys enjoy this video, please be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my channel, and hit that like button. I truly would appreciate it! And as alway, if you have any questions, drop me a comment below!

    I will say this about the smoker I have had it for about 6 months 6 months my control board went out. Which was causing it to have a extremely long heat up process. But other than that it is an overall good smoker with what I think is the best warranty you can get. They will handle your problems with no problems.

    Thank you for replying to my first comment. Another question for you, when you tapped the knob in the S popped up and you said that it was ready for smoke, in the manual it says that it's ready to set a recipe. Can you clarify that please? Is there a smoke mode for this versus just a regular grilling mode

    • @AshKickinBBQ
      @AshKickinBBQ  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah the S means it’s in smoke mode, which it will usually run between 160-180° on that setting. If you want to cook at higher temps, adjust your temperature accordingly. Sometimes for jerky or salmon I run in smoke mode only. Other folks like to run in smoke mode for an hour or two on big meats and then set the temp to 225, 250, 300, etc. I don’t use the recipe mode, so I cannot comment on that.

    • @kimob4

      I think I've answered my own question but please let me know if I'm right. If you tap the knob you can put it into recipe setting which displays as an S. Curious about the heat up times, do you know about how long to 225 then up to 350? You said just plan ahead. Is it 10, 20 45 minutes? One other thing when you seasoned it did you spray the whole inside? racks, side, lid, heat pan? very new so dont know much about pellets. I am how every looking at buying one of the 1600

      Hey, thanks for reaching out. I cannot definitively answer the first part of your question. That is the first time, and the only time I have started the cooker, and I’m in cold Minnesota. You should always preheat your cookers, regardless of its a barrel, stick burner, or pellet. I always let my warm for a half hour at least regardless of the temperature. That being said, I will be cooking on it tomorrow, and will do my best to answer your question in my video, or I’ll stop back here and let you know.
      I did spray everything inside when I seasoned it! I hope this helps, and thank you for watching! 🔥
