      Would be just my luck that Hornby announced their new one just a couple of months later!

    Glad I found you as most of my collection is made up of Triang and Hornby and I am sure Zi gave a couple of these which I will pull out to see what I can do with them.
    Now I will look around to see what else I can learn

    Excellent Video-Summery. Thank You. What would be best Bogie replacement for a Triang Royal Mail Carriage? 🤔 Thanks again

      The Royal Mail coach is supposed to be a mark 1 sorting vehicle, so I would look at using a mark1 bogie. I think Replica do theirs as spares, but how you would fit it I wouldn't know where to begin.

    Hi, nice job on the upgraded van, im doing something similar to mine atm and wondered where you found the van number transfers and details of the running numbers... thanks in advance.. cheers Nick

      The transfers are in the ModelMaster range. I used a book called Southern railway passenger vans by David Gould - loads of useful info on all the various different vans.

    I am not sure this model is worth it. I bought the Roxey upgrade kit and made a dogs dinner of the upgrade! I have a second unchanged version and frankly putting it alongside the Hornby (2015?) model it is quite embarrassing.

      The new Hornby model isnt of this particular van. Their model is of the Van B (it has a guards compartment) whereas this is a GBL (BR labelled them as Corr-PMV), as they had corridor connections, but no guards compartment. These were built on old LSWR chassis as well, which the Triang Van obviously doesnt replicate.
      I would love Hornby to do an updated one of these, but I doubt it will happen as they are too similar to the Van B.
      I didnt want to do the full Roxey upgrade kit, especially as I didnt want the trouble of changing the roof and bogies.
      The end result is, I think fairly acceptable, and certainly improves the appearance of the old Triang Hornby model.

    Why ruin such a lovely Southern Livery

    • @MessingaboutwithModels
      @MessingaboutwithModels  3 роки тому

      Very few of these vans ran in Green in BR days, most were repainted into Crimson, and only a handful were repainted into BR(S) Green in the late 50s.
      I think it also gives a less "plasticy" finish as well.

      @@MessingaboutwithModels Sod BR, I don't like BR where ruining Southern look is concerned, those vans should been kept in the South and all stayed green

      I'm with you on this. Regardless of how few of them ran in SR's livery in BR's time, it's an SR livery... and frankly that's way better.
