Long time Samsung user. Excellent phones. I did just pick up a 6a for a dedicated work line. There are some very cool Pixel features I like. The thing I think many are missing here is pricing. The Pixel 7 series and 6a are exceptional values. And carriers are really starting to ramp up deals for Pixels. The 6a was free with my new line. And I just received a promotion from T-Mobile for a free upgrade to the Pixel 7 on trade in (less sales tax). I am likely going to do this for my personal line.

I got the Pixel 7 Pro on Verizon and they gave me a $700 trade-in credit for my Pixel 4XL. I got the 256GB version and I'm only paying $8 a month. Then the day after I activated the Pixel 7 Pro I received a customer loyalty credit of $25 a month on my line, so after everything, I ended up saving $16 a month on my bill compared to what it was before I got the Pixel 7 Pro!

As a Pixel 3a owner, I'm extremely hesitant to go with the new google phones this year. One of the biggest reasons I am planning on getting a Samsung, maybe an s23 series, is because I have noticed a lot of reviewers off-handledly mention how they have already scratched their google devices, or cracked the screens, within the first month of ownership. I don't recall the Samsung's ever being mentioned as quite that fragile, and while I do take great care in being gentle with my device... I just do not want to risk buying a phone that people seem to break so quickly. The phones only been out for under a month, and reviewers are already damaging them? No thank you. No matter how gentle you are, you will always inevitably drop your phone.
Also apparently Pixel 7s/7 pros flex poorly at the camera bump? aka if you flex them slightly they flex and crack at the metal housing there and that's pretty concerning for me considering, well pockets do flex....
It's a real shame because I love my Google pixel 3a. It's literally my first smartphone. I'm sad to abandon google, but I just don't think I want to stay with them if their phones are stupid easy to crack this year :(

    • @minemagicplayz
      @minemagicplayz 2 роки тому

The new Google phones are fine in durability, the reviewers must be taking poor care of their device/have refused to use a case and screen protector, and honestly that's completely on them.

      @just-jessiejames8241 2 роки тому +1

@@minemagicplayz Admittedly I have not seen recent mentions of Pixels being damaged, so you could very well be correct. Maybe reviewers do just take rather poor care of the devices. You make a good point about the cases/protectors too. I know a very large portion of them do not case their phones, which is frankly something I don't get as an everyday user but that's me. I always use the in tandem, it's the easier way to ensure longevity imho.
Either way I'm keeping my ear to the ground. Who knows, maybe I will get a pixel 7 after all, if the phones aren't as fragile as I feared!

@@robmalcolm8042because you can't buy a phone based on Dex when you take pictures and videos all the time for social media if you use Dex then it's only a few you. At work we were given the Samsung s22 ultra nobody absolutely nobody uses Dex. But when we were at home and you take a single video and edit try to send it to social media teams for promo. The Samsung and pixel (android phones) still lags behind iPhones I mean its night and day. To export a 45 minute video at 4k 30fps with 3d effects on Slice App iPhone took 3 minutes to do the same thing on Android Samsung s22 ultra took 15 mins and crashed 3 times and warned to close background apps and reboot. So yeah Dex will help with that when almost everyone has a laptop. I have used samsungs since note 5 the only thing that I can say is better is customization and the pen. To take notes on the goal especially us we get a lot of pop up meetings throughout the day at work

And right when it comes to social media that’s from uploading directly thru the camera app that iPhone is better at if you don’t upload directly it’s not going to be a huge difference. But your a female you care about stupid sh** like that which doesn’t matter for a phone. At least with android your not locked the hell down and can’t do anything on it like iPhone I know I have both and my iPhone is useless

@@robmalcolm8042 you missed the whole point it was video exporting in terms of performance Samsung can't even hold water comparing it to iphone it's a fact. Social media, video encoding, photo processing. It's a FACT iphones are better at those things that's why people can actually run their social media using iphones without professional cameras. You can actually do that and edit on ipad at blistering speeds. Samsungs can't do that it's not to say Samsung is a bad phone but to say Samsung is a better phone because it has Dex or pen is just stupid when noone 90% of the time never use those things. But people take photos and videos everyday especially in this era that we are in on things that matter the most an iPhone does it better. To say iphone is a useless phone it's all based on your preference it doesn't say much about billions of people buying iphones to start their social media business, photography and media.
I think the word I was actually looking for is optimization. Iphones are better optimized for social media, video processing and photos basically things that matter now. Samsung not so much because hey it's android.

Android is more fun to me music also sounds worlds better through head phones on android and it’s not even close. iPhones still sound like the old ass iPod classics that has all high volume but you couldn’t make out any range being presented in the music cause it’s just blasting loud at you. Also service connection and Wi-Fi sucks on iPhone as well. Just cause your ok with spending money every month on a glorified subscription device doesn’t mean everyone has to fall for that crap. Yes, the features you mentioned on the cameras definitely matter to me. I currently have the S21 Ultra and had traded it in for the iPhone 14 pro through Spectrum but I had 10 days to send in the old phone so I was able to compare them Head to Head in person. The iPhones 15x Zoom on the 14 pro left me wanting more after being used to the 21 Ultras 100 times Zoom. This feature allows me to zoom in 50 or 60 times and take photos of friends on the other side of the lake who don't even realize I'm taking their photo wow the 15x simply left me wanting more. I'm sure the same thing is true with s22 Ultras 100 Exum versus the 30X on the pixel. If Google ever comes up with a 50x then maybe I will consider it!

The photos are amazing! I love taking photos on holiday and zoom in loads when attending rugby and ice hockey! I LOVE the pixel experience and didn't like the Samsung bloatware back when I had the Note in 2013 but I think the S22 cameras edge it for me? I'll preface this by saying, "I have been a primarily Samsung phone user."
The bloatware that plagued the devices are still here (solitaire, Snapchat, etc). Everything is removable though. The bigger issue back then was the Samsung skin "TouchWiz". That is thankfully gone, and has been replaced by the incredible and ever-evolving, One UI.
So if you're biggest gripe with Samsung, are those two things, you'll be pretty safe with their current offerings. That being said, if you're not too far into the Samsung ecosystem, the Pixel is just as good as offering too.

@@gordonlynch771 Congratulations! That is exciting news!
I wish they would do Google play editions of Samsung phones again. An S22 or 23 ultra, running Pixel software, is my dream phone. Caveat that with, Samsung's software has been improved so much! There are certain baked-in software and firmware features (the SSC codec, certain button toggles) that make it hard for me to commit to an ecosystem swap.
The hardware does matter of course! There are also a lot of the editing features from the Pixel, they come with a Google One subscription. Even the object removing feature was added to the flagship lineup with the One UI 4.5 update (my fold 3 received 5.0 and android 13 yesterday).
So again, not trying to muddy the waters, but you have options and they are both great at this time. Best advice I can give you, is that if you do go Samsung, do not dive too deep into their ecosystem. Trying to make the change after that is akin to trying to switch from iOS to Android. It's possible, but it's painful.

@@OGMDr thanks again Chris! In all honesty, I'm the kind of Android user who wants to stick to/with as much Google only stuff/apps as possible! If I get the Samsung S22 Ultra, I'll only be using their apps where absolutely necessary/unavoidable (like Photos) I appreciate how far Google's software has come and how much they can achieve in post photo software but hardware is king for me if available. Also, Samsung have reportedly been ahead of Google in terms of innovating with the Software One Ui and Google catches up!

@@gordonlynch771 no problem Gordon. From my experience, Samsung has had features for generations of phones, that are now becoming mainstream (by Google and Apple). The last section is a rant you can feel free to skip.
I'm with you about the hardware aspect of my tech. That will always outlast software.
To combat your photos issue. I have my Google One (Google photos, backups, etc.) backup all of my photos and then delete the copies on my device so I get that storage back. The downside to this, is that unlike with Pixel devices, other Android phones have to pay for storage tiers. Which Apple does too, if you cared to know how others are doing it.
The only other thing I can mention is that recently Google has started offering VPN services through Google One exclusively for their devices. Again not sure if that matters to you, but it's information. Lol.
It's the small things like that, or the insane transcription capabilities, and a lot of these AI features I wish Samsung would adopt. They already provide the raw chip for the Pixels (tensor is a modified exynos). Qualcomm has powerful AI capabilities baked into their chips that no one seems to want to take advantage of outside of the headphones market.

exactly there's barely any differences between the seven and the seven pro and Google needs to add more premium hardware or software features exclusively for the 7 pro the funny thing is Google has a partnership with Samsung and for some reason they can't on the 7 pro use ultrasonic fingerprint sensors but use the normal optical s***** ones they don't have better brightness or better increased brightness on the 7 pro I'm expecting brightness levels like how the s22 ultra gives out or at least something closer to that the only difference is between the seven is you get a slightly better front camera and you get an extra camera and 120 hertz there is no difference and the funny thing is on the 7 pro what they could have added is faster charging speeds but it's crazy mind-boggling to me how there's barely any differentiation and Google is charging an extra $300 between the seven and the seven pro

All 3 flagships are awesome in different ways. Each has certain things that the others can't match. To greatly over-simplify:
    S22 - features
    Pixel7 - value
    Iphone14 - ecosystem
There is alot more to it of course, but those are their major strengths. It depends on the individual which is more important to them. You can't really go wrong with either one.

I love that Google always updates Android ASAP.

I must say, this is a very fair comparison. I own both phones, and if I made a video comparing the two, I would have said pretty much the same as you.
I'm currently using the Pixel 7 Pro as my DD since It's new and I enjoy stock Android, and I've been using the S22U since it released, but overall the S22U is a better phone.
The speakers on the S22U are quite a bit better, not to mention the S22U has a built-in EQ so you can fine tune the sound.
The fluidity of the animations on Pixel 7 Pro are really nice, and make the S22U feel a bit rough around the edges.
Another thing I've noticed is that it appears the Pixel 7 Pro does heat up a bit more than the S22U. I've done some gaming on both and the Pixel definitely gets warmer.
Both are amazing phones and It's hard for me to decide which I like more. I think I like both equally, but for different reasons. :)

I've always had a hard time when it came to trying to keep tempered glass on a curved screen - it just doesn't stay on. My only gripe with the s22 plus was the terrible battery life and slow charging. The pixel 7 pro just feels like straight plastic all around. Try tapping on the front display and see how hollow it feels. What I do like is the cleaner UI though, but might be going back to trade it in for another s22 plus. I have the S22 Ultra. I think in terms of specifications and the pen it's a better deal, but I do think Google is a much better "smart" phone since most of the phone is using intelligent software you typically can't get on a Samsung device such as screening calls or speech to text that is accurate. I'm saying this from a consumer perspective who may not be familiar with what the phones can do, but I think the Pixel is a better buy for most people, again this is coming from an S22 Ultra user whose had the phone since release.

What you aren't addressing here is that the Pixel will NOT let you move the Search Bar on bottom of screens(ALL screens), or the Date\Weather on top left screen, or use voice to text search - pixel forces you to use Google Assistant, and a host of other annoying governors for how you use the Pixel.
Don't get me wrong, there's a Lot to like about the Pixel 7Pro besides the price.
But as a former LG user navigating their way into another brand platform and trying to hold on to the features they loved and used a lot the Samsung seems the closest.
Google Pixel 7Pro is pretty easy to navigate, and if you can get past the oversized screen brightness bar and pull-down menu icons, the rigid "iSO-like "this is what you can change\have\do" or the basic-ness of their "top-of-the-line" phone then this is quite the phone.

Hi,i take a LOT of pics and videos of my daughter who plays softball,so,I really want a great camera. Playing shortstop,i am 60- 100 feet away at times. I assume the 100X zoom camera on the S22 is clearly the better choice?

I have had plenty of samsung phones because i dont do iphones and looking at this new s22u the design is box shaped and the interface is always the same. I recently purchased the google pixel and right away i was welcomed with a smoother iphone feel of interface quality. Just like the guy said, its almost like a google iphone, nothing about it feels like an android. Not to mention the battery is simply amazing which immediately sold me before i even paid attention to the affordable price. For anyone wanting a new interface experience and feel wo getting the iphone, pixel nailed that spot on. Both phones appear to be equal in their own way but im very happy with my new pixel. Fyi, the pixel fold battery is terrible.

So I have a iPhone 12pro max and been on iPhone since the the Samsung s8 so a while I’m considering upgrading my phone to Samsung or google so google pro or s22 ultra (although yes s23 will be out soon) I use my phone for the basics, taking pics a lot watching UA-cam and social media so nothing to in-depth but mainly taking pics of the kids and watching UA-cam which would you recommend?

Both are very beautiful 😍 love then both but exactly as saki says the s22 ultra is a king in both complexity and features advantages camera s-pen but google.pixel 7 pro is simplified still very good for everyday photos but not for quality as s22 ultra 8k video and zoom and clarity sharpness

The cameras can get better over time where as samsung usually dont pass on the better image processing to older models ... i rather simplicity and just works now than flashy expensive bleeding edge ... things are too expensive these days
