I returned my pixel 7 pro, and went with the s22 ultra. Lot's of call issues (couldn't receive calls or make them) that required me to restart the phone multiple times a day. No issues whatsoever with the s22 ultra. The antennas on the s22 ultra is also way better, and I am getting 5G signals in more places now as well.
Opposite here went thru 2 different ultras and the signal was always weak or fidcovnneticok my work commute .. with the 7 pro phone doesn't even drop a call the entire commute where as the ultra (both of them would drop calls in about 3 or 4 spots along the same commute

7:20 I could not agree with you more. I absolutely love what Samsung has done with the S22 ultra. I know a lot of people are upset they will not be changing the design of the S23 Ultra but I am glad they are staying with the design.

I have a s22 ultra and a s10+.
My s10+ is still a powerhouse in terms of being flagship. 500GB storage card (can hold a 1TB SD card) Can turn on HDR settings for screen and camera, vivid, it'll run 2160p videos on wifi and has wireless charging. If you're in the market for like a $300 refurbished phone, the s10+ is a G. I think the s21 FanEdition was the last Samsung flagship to have a SD card but I don't have experience with that.
I do like my s22 ultra but I feel Samsung is condensing specs too much and dropping specs.
The s10+ was the note without the S pen.
The s22+ is like 75% the phone the s22 ultra is.
I very happy that they will keep the design because Samsung galaxy s22 ultra design is the best looking phone of the year.
I'd also get the 7 Pro so that I could use the automated call screen and annoy spammers.

Does the Faster Shutter option in Samsungs Camera Assistant App solve the lag problem or does it create quality issues?
I have them both and keep rotating between the two. I definitely prefer the Pixel 7 Pro due to the weight and feel in hand. S22 Ultra is a bit more bulky especially when cased. I love them both and intend to keep them both till whenever I'm ready to change. If I had to keep only one device, I'd be torn but may choose the S22 Ultra. I'm actually typing and viewing on my Pixel 6 Pro at the moment. LoL. Love this comparison.
I agree with you as I have both phones as well. The S22U is the jack of all trades so I rather get that and deal with all the camera issues. Pixel is Pixel tho and it's a clean lag free experience. Their calling features are a game changer. Been a Pixel fan since their Nexus days. Samsung honestly wasn't that great until the One UI years.
That being said my sim hasn't went back to the S22U since I got my P7P. I use my S22U more like a mini tablet to my Tab 8 Ultra. 😁 I'm getting the Pixel Tablet when it comes out as well.

I had the S22 Ultra and it's a fantastic phone. However, I ended up trading it in for a Best Buy deal they had on the Pixel 7 Pro and I haven't looked back. The Pixel 7 Pro has features like the recorder app, call screening, etc that I find more useful/helpful in my day to day compared to features like S pen that I think I only used when I got the phone. I also didn't use Dex so for me, The Pixel 7 Pro is the better phone given it's $300 cheaper.
Front camera much better on Galaxy phones, i got s22 plus and pixel 7 pro, I hate how dark looks all selfies on pixel 7 pro
I went with the Pixel 7 Pro after being with Samsung, exclusively, since the Galaxy S3, and I do not regret it one bit. This phone is incredibly smooth and I've been loving everything about it.

@@markferguson1984 Samsung used to be great, but they've been releasing practically the same phone for the past 4 or 5 years now. With the Pixel 7 Pro, this was the first time in years where I've actually felt that I've upgraded my phone, and it was hundreds of dollars less than what I would've spent.
@@danieldevito6380 It only feels like that because you were with the same OEM for 4-5 years. You'll feel the same if you rock with Pixel for 4-5 years and then decide to change. In that case, it always feels like a fresh experience when really... it's just different.
@@mrfrench821 You're probably right, but that doesn't change the fact that Samsung has been releasing almost the identical phone for the past 5 years. I remember, back when HTC was still around, when an upgrade felt like you were actually upgrading and how exciting it was to test out all the new features. Samsung and Apple stopped innovating. The only significant innovation I can think of, in the last 5 years, is the disappearance of the notch, and that's it.
It is a mystery to me why in 2022 a great camera phone such as Galaxy Ultra 22, can continue to have "shutter lag" that simply not good enough Samsung, and mediocre Battery life at best. I love Samsung but this is just s deal breaker for me.
Yup, the battery life especially is unacceptable for a flagship phone. I hope samsung gets their act together with S23. Pixel and iphones are looking really attractive now

they've got to save something for the s23...planned obsolescence, same with Apple. As a multi-billion dollar enterprise, you can be sure Samsung have already planned for the s24 and maybe even s25.
I love your comparison videos, especially when it features two of the best Android phones in 2022. I agree with you that each of these phones has great features that will appeal to different people, and I agree that Samsung has made huge improvements when it comes to delivering timely software updates. I think another factor is that Samsung has a more developed ecosystem than the Google Pixel, though Google is catching up with the introduction of its tablet coming out sometime next year. In the end, it comes down to the needs of the customers and which phone checks off the most boxes on the consumer's list of what they are looking for in a smartphone. Either of these phones will please their potential buyers. But it will be interesting to see how Samsung markets their S23 series, especially the S23 Ultra with its new chipset. Hopefully, they will do what Google has done and price their phones more competitively, time will tell. Anyway, thanks for the great informative videos as always, and keep up the great work!!

I think the Samsung edges it for me on the camera hardware (especially zoom for outdoors and sporting events) plus the faster charging, S Pen and Dex capabilities.... Otherwise, I LOVE the Google UI...

I would try the Pixel 7 Pro first as most people will think it's good enough. The S23U will be a killer phone when it comes out tho. I have both of these phones in this video and I would pick the S22U if I had to keep one phone. I love my Pixel 7 Pro as well.

💯 i actually think samsung have the absolute best gallery app on any of the android options, love the organisation and the customisation options. I cant stand the layout of google photos, good for backing up but that's it 😂
I have the S22 Ultra in white and the Pixel 7 in lemongrass. I plan on keeping this setup at LEAST for the next 3 years. I am 100% satisfied with both of these devices and their software. Next upgrade won't be until 2025 or 2026!

Both are excellent, supported long term, and great phones. Just depends on what you want. OneUI, or stock android. Also the S22 Ultra has a better quality screen and the S Pen and faster charging.
funnily enough the spider look with the million lenses on the S22 Ultra is what made me gravitate to the 7 Pro. I absolutely despise that look.

I have both and for me the user experience with the S22 ultra has been better than the Pixel 7 pro. The Pixel has issues and while none of them are unbearable it definitely tips it to the S22 ultra 🤷♂️
Ever since my old old old Samsung vibrant(Galaxy 2) I've hated lag in Samsung. The vibrant was unusual and was sold with a gps they know didn't work. My g1 was more useable! Anyway, all these years later and they have camera lag? Nope
S22 Ultra is more future proof for those that like to keep their phones for 3+ years. Google hasn't changed in that every phone they release feels like a project and the experience doesn't get better until you've had the device for a few months... THEN it functions like it should've on day 1 release. Apple and Samsung both provide a more consistent user experience. Always preferred Google products but the Pixel 6 sucks at just being a phone. Has consistently had connectivity issues since the 2nd month I've had it. I love all the features... screening for spam calls, Google Assistant, Google translate however the modem Google used in these phones is downright abysmal. Pixels always look and sound like great deals on the surface. You don't experience the reasons why they're cheaper than the competition until you actually use them for a while. After a few months, it begins to show why they're cheaper. My experience with the Pixel 6 has me gun shy about EVER giving another Pixel a shot ever again.
Owned both and ending up sticking with the 7 pro..ultra had inconsistent performance on both my 8gb ram and 12 gn ram models . Also the battery life and shutter lag annoyed me

Samsung Note is gone. They turned it into the S22 Ultra. So the S23 Ultra coming out in in early Feb is the “new” note.

Great job once again on the breakdown of both devices. I preferred the P7P because of the live translate and speech which is very sharp. I am not a big fan of the S22 design with all the extra cameras on the back and it is becoming redundant with Samsung same with Apple.

It is bloatware. P7 pro is true Android, obviously because Google invented it. Actually, I wouldn't buy another Samsung just because of 1UI and all the preloaded bloatware that you can not uninstall
The determination factor for me is S-pen and Dex support. Also the camera quality integration on social media apps is better in Samsung than Google's.
My favorite phone I had I used for 2 years hauwei mate 20 x and the battery was unbelievable and I still have it but I have the Samsung 22 ultra and I love it also and 8bhave the one plus 8t which I will say is the craziest battery ever it charges in20 minutes
Same here, favorite phone so far mate 20 x. Still have it as a remote and watch videos. For my main phone I went to Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, not the 22 ultra because of the annoying fact that the EU S22 ultra is with the exynos chip. Samsung should deliver the same phone everywhere. Global Vivo X90 pro plus is interesting but Pixel 7 pro is interesting too :)

If you are only going based on it being the top phone each company makes then yes, but based on specs and price the 7Pro is more in line with the S22+.

In my country Pixel isn't available and doubt it'll be. But a lot of us using mid tier price Samsung and bunch of Chinese brands have been enjoying the Gcam ported to those brand outside Pixel.
I have Samsung A22 5G with Gcam installed. I can belive when my $200+ phone can produce one of the cleanest and so much better colour profile with Gcam, Pixel will do much better.
Only Google knows why it limit the product to few countries.....
Samsung is aping Apple for taking some features out and the price hikes and trying to reach $1500 price in few years... but Samsung is here to reach albeit the best one takes the best count of money....

The 7 pro is faster in day to day activities. It's because of the software, which you can tell if you used both. The s-pen is great for taking notes.

I don’t really see the issue here. Why does it matter if it’s an iPhone or a Sony AIII? It doesn’t. It’s simple. Record on iPhone and air drop to my MacBook and edit on final cut pro which is Mac only. You’re just reaching for something stupid that isn’t there.

Apple Inc. advertises all the Microsoft Office apps run on Mac. Microsoft and Google have more killer apps than Apple Inc. but they just give them all away to Apple Inc.. I feel like Microsoft and Google are pushing me to a Mac/iPhone to use their macOS/iOS version apps.

Trading my S21U for the S22U just because of the deal Samsung had. Just paying for the taxes 👍🏽
I only bought the s22 ultra because I found the 512GB on sale for like $840 in green so I snagged it. (The s22+ is a gigantic JOKE. Premium price without the premium cameras of the ultra
I'm still using a galaxy S10+ and it's just a scotch smaller then the s22. I can literally get 6-7hr screentime with that phone, turn it off vivid, turn the brightness down, turn Dolby Atmos off. Unpair Bluetooth devices you aren't using. This gets my 4 year old s10+ to stream for at minimum 5-6 hours. Add in that portable battery, I can charge my phone 5x over with it.
If you need 7+hrs of screentime you need a tablet and or a fast charging 25000MaH battery
Edit. And I only bought the s22 ultra because the s22+ is a GIGANTIC JOKE. Only the note model gets the top tier cameras? Wtf Samsung.
It's easy!!!! Do you want a fake Google smartphone or a real genuine Google smartphone...if you want the real thing get the Pixel 7pro...if you want a fake Google experience get the Samsung...I love Samsung watches but hate their phones. I'm using the Galaxy watch 5 pro with my Google pixel 7pro and don't care enough about the missing features on the watch to switch to a Samsung phone. The watch works good enough for me to enjoy it on a pixel phone.
Did dxo forget about the pixel 6 pro selfie camera? The pixel 7 pro selfie is without a doubt the worst in the world. My p20 pro selfie camera for 5 years ago was much better and I absolutely miss it.

Yes the front camera is hit or miss... It's really annoying for me; the pictures look dark and grainy... I'm even considering changing it with OnePlus 9 Pro.... Have you found a solution to the front camera issue?

Samsung software (when you don't want to use it) is absolutely *bloatware*. I hate that Samgsun wallet continously pops up begging me to use it. Always having to update samsung apps I don't use. I'm so ready to ditch the S21 for a Pixel 7 Pro.

Galaxy is better than the Pixel overall simply because of video. Don't listen to DXO MARK, None of the Chinese phones can compete no matter how much they trying to convince you otherwise. They can die like Huawei as far as I'm concerned. As far as Samsung I wish they still had the iris scanner.

It isn't just scores and ranks. There are plenty of photo samples anyone can see and compare. Galaxy definitely took inferior photos than Huawei. It's beyond comprehension how "die like Huawei" is even possible. I despise Chinese phone companies but their hardware quality is superior. Huawei has its own almost fully-automated modern phone manufacturing facility while Apple Inc. phones and Samsung phones are still being primitively and manually made in poor conditions by low-wage workers. Apple Inc. doesn't even have their own stable manufacturing facility and just orders some subcontractors to manufacture for them in some rented places recruiting cheap temporary labor.

And add the fact the Samsung ecosystem is so much better, ie the buds 2 pro are better than pixel buds, the galaxy watch 5 pro is leaps ahead of the pixel watch. Credit to Google they seem to be coming and in the future they may equal samsung but for now Samsung is well ahead

S22 ultra battery life is dog shit, has way too much bloatware and P7P has a better camera. S22U has a better screen, speakers and the S pen
The Pixel just needs to be redesigned.

All that said, I hated my S22 Ultra when it came out because my old Note 10+ would outlast the battery life of my S22 Ultra but not anymore.
My S22 Ultra also made me put my DSLR Camera back in the box.

That was a release price. It’s $150 more expensive than pixel7pro (in each their official website) But Samsung has way better trading value whatever phone you’ve got so it’s not too bad
