Had a friend in Pattaya who passed away recently at 77 years old, had a seven year old son and a 35 year old Thai go-go bar girl wife...she now has a condo in Pattaya and a home in Surin.

Hell, I fall in love every single night in Pattaya. I wake up the next day and do it all over again. So I disagree with the OP. It is perfectly fine to fall in love with a bar girl but only for 24 hours.

I brought a friend from Canada to Pattaya. A week before leaving I told him I was worried for him. That he did not have street smarts or enough experience with woman and that he would fall in love with a bar girl. He asured me he would be fine.
Arriving in Pattaya..... he lasted 7 days.... one week and he was in love. Its been 7 yrs now and they are still together. He went in to partnership with a few other westerners on a bar in soi7 Jomtien ....... because you can't take the bar out the girl.......
Oh... she is a very nice girl by the way. He hit gold.

You are supposed to do this. You think it is a bad thing because of your awful experiences in the Western World. Most men in this "tragic" situation are very happy with it. It comes from being allowed to be a man...husband and father with someone who actually loves you.
This is perhaps the most important reason to stay the hell out of Pattaya.
This is a very difficult concept for Western men to grasp. You can literally do better. And you should.

Plenty of the bar girls are "good girls", (depending on your definition of good). The main problem with marrying them, is not that they are bar girls, it's that you have nothing in common with them. And unlike regular women, you don't need to hitch your wagon to them to enjoy their company, so... don't.

Those were excellent stories. They are the kind of stories I love to listen to at the bars I frequent. I am hoping at least one of them is still open after this pandemic so I can catch up to a year and a half of missed tales concerning the damned, the crazies, the lucky, the ones with the I.Q. of a broken brick I call my friends and finally the three actual almost fully intelligent friends. ( Well 2 1/2 really....one guy is really short.) I miss them....however I really miss seeing women on a daily basis even more. I hope catastrophic sagging hasn't damaged any of them. My apologies, I've been thinking out loud again.

On the rebound in Thailand. Yeah, that's going to go well. Bar girls are completely honest. They're working in a bar to make money. How can dudes be so dense? They provide the girlfriend experience and they do it very well. Men aren't "taken" for money, they give it. But they're still humans.

Married to a girl who worked in bar in 13/2 Pattaya, actually there's quite a lot out of the same bar in long term relationships with foreign men , maybe we just got lucky or you just dont hear about the sucessful stories much. Anyway good advice especially if someone is going to tackle a go-go girl.
How long have you been together? If she's spending your money by buying too much food then she's using you. Can you say no to this girl? It's not unheard of. But so many men say they're a success story. But two years later they're angry and resentful of Thais because it all went to crap. Don't ignore red flags. But it's your journey. Hope it works out.

Great stories but to be fair some girls you meet in the bars can be genuine and i did on many travels to Bangkok have ladies where i didn't need to pay anything in regards to overnight stays that continued into the next day etc which is normal..... I eventually bought one of those ladies back to Australia on a tourist visa and we got married on 16 july 2010...it is now 2021 and we have a 4yr old son Damien and a 7yrs son Dominic and still remain happily married to this date.

If you are okay with paying for the life you would never have without the Thai girl, then what's the problem? Chicks at home will cost you too. The problem is that these guys get caught slipping, they are blinded by emotion despite knowing better. So, don't slip and pay the bill, you had great..female attention and care..far beyond anything you could dream of at home, while it lasted, and you paid for the fun, fair enough, and that's that. Move on, citizen. Anyway that is how I see it.

3rd visit to Thailand sht my first visit 200 bhat for the bus to Pattaya from BKK only 1400 for a taxi does the guy need someone to hold his hand and the ID isn't to keep an eye on her incase of him it's to keep an eye on her
So, story #1 The Brit was 65 years old. Jit was (guessing here) 25 or so. That's a sizable gap, 40 years. When she is 40 the Brit will be 80, that sounds like the end of the road .

In Pattya it's common to see old men in there 60-80's walking around with these firecracker hot 20+ Thai ladies plus a few small children in tow. I found it very interesting. I've been going over for three months a year (low season) since 2004. My strategy has always been to hang out a the food courts and let it be known that I am looking for an older companion. I've had great luck doing this. I have found that if you treat them well and have fun with them it can be a wonderful experience. Don't be cheap and be up front with them about the marriage thing. I don't want to get married to anybody. I've been all over Thailand . I met one in Cambodia that was 44 and absolutely beautiful. She shared a har dressing stall at the local market and heard through her partner that I was going to sihanoukville and asked me if she could go. I was with her six years until covid then she just disappeared and no one knew where she went or what happened to her.
She was my soul mate because we got along so well. That's life.

When going to Pattaya from the Airport walk down to bottom level and get the bus for 130 baht. If you must get taxi go to the official taxi rank where the taxis are controlled. (cannot remember but about 1500 - 2000 baht). You can get taxis from departures or the ground floor and haggle. (about 1000 baht plus tolls).
The buses difficult for most people as they normally have quite a bit of luggage with them personally I go up to the departures level and catch a taxi from there are

Becoming a dad at retirement age and not having a retirement visa for long stay for visiting his daughter in Thailand is not due the pandemic. The borders of Thailand have been opened for expats since October 2020 and so does the UK. If he‘s not willing or able to take his wife to the UK for whatever reason, he shouldn’t blame the pandemic not seeing his daughter for two years.

And were looking for an extra. Best deals are made in the morning... Around 4... They all change strategy, and are less focused on money...

Anyone that lives a few years in Pattaya, and doesn't even need to be a sex addict, as i personally hated it to lie in bed till afternoon, and get stuck with this nice peace of ass in the morning, that didn't look the same in afternoon 🤣.
But it's what I did, after a few years.... As you learn... With many mistakes too. Finally you'll discover the right way to get the best out of it.

That's terrible advice, it may have worked for you and maybe 2 other guys in the world but for every 3 of you, there is thousands of men who get scammed by bar girl every year. Go to Pattaya to have fun but if you want a long relationship with a Thai woman, just go with a regular Thai woman from BKK or the surrounding area.

Some personal advice. If you go there (or any foreign country) don't get drunk and keep you head about you. PEACE
think the guy who said the joiner fee was a good investment is mistaken it for the hotel policy where most of them require the guest to leave their id until they leave..that actually helps protect tourist from crazies or things that may go bad
leaving ID at the desk to me, seemed like a fantastic process and well organized and worked. Once I took a girl back to my hotel, Eastiny Place as I recall. I had stayed there once or twice over the years. The desk clerk took the ID looked it over and said, "Sorry mister can not". I asked why not? Wondering if they changed the guest policy, or maybe this girl was a known problem or was banned from the hotel for some reason. So I asked again what is the problem? The clerk said can not take this person. I was puzzled. Then the clerk showed me the ID and it showed that the girl was a guy! Wow was I fooled. I looked at the ID, looked over my prospective guest. I said thank you to the clerk. I felt a bit bad for the person. I mean he/she may have been a good person and was being stigmatized by the acts of others. So I gave her/him motorbike taxi fair for his/her time and went on with my evening.

In first story the beautiful bar girl was honest saying that she only wanted the guy for his money. No feeling at all. . As a result, he end up with a woman who was not that attractive or desirable. At some point he wanted to get rid of her because of her look. However, at retirement age he did not have that much options or choices, so he settled with ugly one who is going to stick with him for the rest of his life. The moral of story is : Get an ugly woman. She will loves you for who you are, not for your money. It doesn’t matter if she is a bar girl or average Thai woman. Ugly chicks never leave a men whom they think they’re hot or superior to themselves. That is not only in Thailand. It is universal value.
