I'm torn on this. It really does sound like a joke that he wasn't seriously suggesting anyone buy into. I suspect most UA-camrs don't really research their sponsors anyway. On the other hand, the 10k payout and inconsistent explanations from Boogie seem pretty shady. I'd be interested in seeing more specifics on the $3,000,000 worth of trading on the coin according to Coffeezilla.
The algo has been pumping me Coffeezilla and Turkey Tom lately. Somewhat entertaining but too much moral panic for me.

Kind of gotta agree with Dick. I mean boogie advertised it as a shit coin. Like if you’re still getting scammed by shit coins you absolutely deserved it. Boogie kinda catching too much shit for this. Like, who is gunna by this? Imagine, if someone bought this as an investment?
Agreed, scammers aren't really involved in a negative activity provided you've classified their victims as stupid. Who would really think that Microsoft is ringing them in order to fix a virus on their computer, can that really be called a 'scam' when everybody should know better?
Who would really think that travelling to another country to marry someone would work out? Is it really a scam to turn girls into sex workers? They were probably whores to begin with.
Why are we so obsessed with punishing scammers all the time? Their victims are stupid idiots, and why would we have an active interest in stupid idiots not being systematically stolen from, abused, and tricked by people who want to take money from them? Why aren't we more focused on protecting non-stupid non-whores from the scams that they definitionally wouldn't fall for?
Imagine if I went into a bank with a fake gun and started saying that "I have a fake gun, you should definitely not put money into this bag to avoid being shot", imagine if I was arrested by a stupid cop for doing that- what kind of society would we be living in?

Well, let's see: one makes you go to jail. The other one is a crowd funding initiative.
So I guess the differences are the following- one is participation in an illegal investment campaign that is intended to (and did) steal peoples money under the guise of an investment, and one is sending money to a creator via an intermediary for an open and clear purpose of support.
Now I suppose we can pretend to be stupid and just start talking about how all things are essentially other things. What is 'money' anyway, what are 'actions' anyway? Are we all part of a simulation on a gigantic computer? Is there free will? Or we can put on our big-boy pants and accept that there are fundamental differences between strings of actions.
I guess we know which one your preference is.

@@Risingashes "guise of investment" is the (extremely important) part you all seem to be intentionally ignoring, at no point did boogie tell anyone this was an investment. In fact, he very clearly said it would crash and that it's a terrible investment.

I don’t know a whole lot about the situation beyond this video and the lolcow live episode, but it seems insane how hard people like Muta and even METOKUR have jumped on this. (Granted I haven’t watched Jim’s latest stream.)

Ima electronic currency guy. Im just skeptical it needs to be some badly written algorithm looking for three sixes like an insane dnd player and uses six nuclear power plants to do it. Currency is based on trust. Its how we got people to accept cotten paper and nickle as money.
It's also based on monopoly and fear. I use paper money because most places don't take anything else and you need it to pay taxes.
