I agree, the only situation the scry is better is that you can keep 1 and bottom 1, but I don't think that happens often enough that it matters, because if you're keeping anything on top it's probably a setup card to win anyway so the other cards below it don't really matter more often than not. If you're forced to shuffle with Ponder, the Preordain would probably bottom 2 anyway, so either way you're getting a mystery card in that scenario.
As someone who is just getting into cEDH and am looking at building my first deck, these deck techs are really helpful. It really helps differentiate the mindset behind what you're doing here and what I'm used to with casual commander. Whereas there I'm looking to build in general synergies and occasionally some game winning combos, it's really neat to see that you're building full lines into the deck.
Thank you all so much this is the deck tech ive been waiting for i love cams jeskai ishai and started building it myself ,bit out of my budget, but so much fun
Absolutley love this format. I think a mix of gameplay with strong combo decks and explanations of cool decks in separate videos will bring great success.
love the conversation style! edit: Also I think Ponder is better simply because you get to look at 3 rather than 2 cards AND you have the chance to shuffle
solid work as always gentlemen. I was wondering if in the next deck tech videos if you guys can include the bad matchups for the decks and why they are bad matchups and also what the cons of the deck are in general.
Ever thought of running fiery islet instead of shivan reef? Since life totals dont matter as much in this deck and it can be cracked for a card and feed underworld breach when it matters
Huge fan of fiery islet. When you have red and blue, one more card drawn is a huge option to hold, especially when you are out of or need to hold up your blue mana that your usual draw needs
I play a *slightly* more casual version, just built around getting Ishai big and protecting her, and Cam's deck was what inspired me to build it. So I loved getting this breakdown from you guys! These are my favorite videos
You mentioned phasing out ishai with Teferi, Teferi's ability says target creature you don't control, so that doesn't work, but it is great for stopping dockside loops.
Loved the fact you explained why each hand is good and bad while considering the other players. I almost never do that as a casual player and it's cool to see how much thinking goes to each decision.
It's my latest cEDH project, love HermitDruid's take on it as analogous to Tempo Delver. Playing it with light stax is wonderful, and you have an incentive to keep the stax players alive so that opponents find it difficult to handle a flyer.
Enjoyed this tech. My friend ran an Isshai deck and it got scary fast, even in casual pods. Decided myself to go the other try and brew a lackluster commander. Chose Rayne; found a foil of her for $60 and I love the art. It was an interesting challenge. Anyway, great video guys!
This was an amazing video. I learned a lot more about this deck despite playing this list for months. I really love the end where you guys go through mulligan options. Also I prefer Ponder cuz you can digg through more cards in your deck. :)
i think ive watched this video 20 times to get all the lines down. now i own almost all the cards too. =) please more deck tech guys! blue farm would be nice.
Thanks for this deck tech. This is one of my favourite decks to watch and see being played. I can now know how to win and how to play it. This is a deck I’ve been thinking about marking and now knowing that you can make it how you want to play it. Thank you for this deck tech!!
Jeska Ishai is such a fun deck, and I love to see other builds of it. Personally, I can't afford Intuition or LED, so I use Storm-Kiln Artist as both an effective midrange piece but also a mana outlet ounce Breach is online. Brain Freeze and flusterstorm are already busted cards because they have Storm, but Magecraft takes that to the next level. I'm even on Archmage Emeritus and I'm on a midrangey storm build at the moment because the interaction is so effective, and even without storm cards turning counters into cantrips with the potential to pay for themselves(with longer lasting and more versatile mana than Birgi) is amazing.
I'm a little late to the show but here I am. And, BTW, bacon is delicious! Thanks for the deck tech. Feel free to do a best enchantress deck in cEDH video!
Great video, I do like the card draw scenarios and the thought process taken to decide whether to keep or not. It's an area in my game I could use improvement on!
I really like how you guys explain, how to play the deck, it help me a lot. can you guys make a video of Kenrith, the Returned King, how to play to win? he confuse to me, I'm having a hard time what to add in the deck or what the best way to win.
Cameron are you still running the deck and have you updated your list, was thinking about getting back into playing cedh again and that was my favorite deck
That last hand with the keep 4 I would’ve gone all risk and kept the brainstorm and git probe. I gotta trust that 4 cards in I’m getting something of value
How format warping it is to have card advantage in the command zone. I played Jeska/Ishai for a while. The deck can be explosive but often hellbent which is ironic in these colors.
What do you think about this build? I love T3feri + Kitten + Mox Opal. Got angel's grace in the deck to be able to generate infinite mana and drawing the entire library.
I prefer adding a welder/engineer package to supplement our lack of early drops and allow midgame synergies with experimental synthesizer, top, and the occasional angel of the ruins. We are a deck of the 1-2 early ishai/breach pile punch, and we should focus heavily on those plans. I also find that the deck really cannot handle very many 3+ mana spells.
Amazing video and personally I lean more towards ponder over preordain, the ability to shuffle is so much more relevant than the scry as you get deck states where your ratios are not in any way you want it to be, while the scry digs you 2 cards deep, the "soft divining top" that ponder gives you just offers so much more top deck option than preordain does already, i find my cEDH games to be geared more towards on getting your top deck in place or fixing your deck state when you start off badly. (Also channeling the fact that i cut preordain after it gave me 3 top deck lands in a row in turn 3  )
Cam, I've loved watching you play with this deck and appreciate the deck tech! Also, btw, your hair is looking super hot these days ;-) I was team Dylan for awhile but those luscious locks . . . .my loyalty grows weak . . . lol! Is there another PtW UA-cam channel somewhere with your Scandinavian Death Metal band 🤘😈
Unrelated to the deck tech but I already said I loved these but can one of yaw play the Magda deck that recently won marchesa 2022 i from a small area that doesn’t have a cedh meta so I live vicariously through you guy and I would love to see that deck and the Heliod from the same top four
I'm so sorry to break it to you, I guess someone else must have also pointed this out, but Teferi cannot protect Birgi or Ishai. It phases out a creature you DON'T control.
I play Breya, and similar to Jeska/Ishai there's no card advantage in the command zone. I feel like Ledger Shredder is going to go HARD in decks like this. Jeska/Ishai two birds 🎆
I love this deck. I'd be interested seeing how it operates as more of a control deck with archmage emeritus and wavebreak hippocamp. Also it's ponder right because you potentially see a 4th card?
@@Magidex I know the main combo and I've got that down. I'm more curious about what the flex slots and interaction package might look like for them compared to my build. It's mostly a curiosity and thought experiment type thing. Maybe they have tech I don't or vice versa!
I love that cam has found a fun deck in Cedh to play, ive always enjoyed Kwain in high end casual, so I hate to ask, but do you think Kwain is viable as a 9 power? Without the use of boring isochron? I was thinking anything from Knowledge pool to Mind over matter, but it just doesnt feel enough. I know everything cant be Cedh worthy lol. But its fun to see you guys deck tech
Is there a substitute for lion’s eye diamond with underworld breach that is semi-viable (for casually competitive), even if it requires more cards for the combo? Thanks.
Jeska/Ishai has been my main deck over the last months. Really like the option to kill the stax player before you go off. My build also runs Barrin/dockside, I just think barrin is not a dead card in isolation, really like it. Just curious, why running abrade over resculpt?
I was brewing up a deck with these commanders as well how would you feel throwing some double strike granting instants for small bird commander damage threats?
I just noticed you dont run windswept heath, makes since cuz white isnt the most important color, but id assume you ran as much fetches as possible lol
Is it worth it to run this deck if you aren’t on LED or Intuition? I want to own all the cards(I already do mostly), but I don’t want to buy those two.
Best "begin" yet. Just vibing.
Ponder is better imo. You dig deeper, and the option to shuffle has a multitude of uses.
The 26:13 hand can actually ditch the land to mox Diamond, gamble for mana crypt, ose mox opal to play wheel. Risky, but might work
As someone who is just getting into cEDH and am looking at building my first deck, these deck techs are really helpful. It really helps differentiate the mindset behind what you're doing here and what I'm used to with casual commander. Whereas there I'm looking to build in general synergies and occasionally some game winning combos, it's really neat to see that you're building full lines into the deck.
You bringing up Grist, I would love a breakdown of that deck! Unless you've already done it...
This makes sense, shuffling is pretty good
if you shuffle with ponder you get to look at 4 cards which is a big deal.
Guy's your killing it with this deck-tech videos and I really was waiting for Jeska/Ishai which I'm in love with it. Thanks a lot 😊
solid work as always gentlemen.
I'm running fiery islet is a good cantrip when you're in need of it.
Huge fan of fiery islet. When you have red and blue, one more card drawn is a huge option to hold, especially when you are out of or need to hold up your blue mana that your usual draw needs

Dude ever since I saw Cameron play this deck for the first time I’ve wanted this video! Keep up the amazing content!
It's my latest cEDH project, love HermitDruid's take on it as analogous to Tempo Delver. Playing it with light stax is wonderful, and you have an incentive to keep the stax players alive so that opponents find it difficult to handle a flyer.
Interesting thing, teferi, master of time can only phase out creatures you don't control so it can't save your bird.
My favorite cEDH deck :D
PS: RC please never remove commander dmg wincon :D
I've been waiting for this video for so long!!! 😍😍😍
As a new player to cEDH, I love Deck Tech videos!!
I'm just getting into the format. This video was incredible. Id love to see more break downs like this.
The explanations of mulligans is huge.
This was an amazing video. I learned a lot more about this deck despite playing this list for months. I really love the end where you guys go through mulligan options. Also I prefer Ponder cuz you can digg through more cards in your deck. :)
I never knew you could do the spellseeker combo like that. hopefully I can use that at my next CEDH tourney
What an awsome video! I reconstructed my deck 4 times while watching! xD
Keep up the great work
High Tide Storm deck tech please! JVP or Jin Gitaxias!
i think ive watched this video 20 times to get all the lines down. now i own almost all the cards too. =) please more deck tech guys! blue farm would be nice.
I am making a Kykar, Wind's Fury deck so this has been very very helpful
Taking extensive notes. First saw this deck on the channel and been trying to get better with it ever since
Thanks for this deck tech. This is one of my favourite decks to watch and see being played. I can now know how to win and how to play it. This is a deck I’ve been thinking about marking and now knowing that you can make it how you want to play it. Thank you for this deck tech!!
I would love to see a Korvold deck tech as it’s my personal favorite deck thinking about joining the Patreon and showing it off
you two as partner hosts are beautiful, such different characters but just fucking awesome
Jeska Ishai is such a fun deck, and I love to see other builds of it. I love this deck so much! This is where I got inspired to build my own version!
Yall have the best timing, just decided to build this deck yesterday 🤣
I actually play this deck as well. It's pretty powerful. Even for a rookie with this deck people constantly get Ishai to 7+ power
I have used Chain of Vapor multiple times to reuse my Underworld Breach when my combo is interacted with, its so versatile.
I'm a little late to the show but here I am. And, BTW, bacon is delicious! Thanks for the deck tech. Feel free to do a best enchantress deck in cEDH video!
I absolutely love yaws deck techs!
Okay, haven't seen the video yet. But I think this "Begin" is my favourite so far. It is so perfectly awful, I love it guys
Great video, I do like the card draw scenarios and the thought process taken to decide whether to keep or not. It's an area in my game I could use improvement on!
Worth noting you can Breach loop with Petal if you don't have LED
I don't play led and it's honestly just a lil bit harder since my list is slower anyway
I built a budget high power deck with this pair. bunch of counterspells, card draw, and then combat protection for the bird.
I love this deck so much! If I get a chance to play cEDH I am 100% proxying this!
That last hand with the keep 4 I would’ve gone all risk and kept the brainstorm and git probe. I gotta trust that 4 cards in I’m getting something of value
Where's the j darg deck tech though 👀
How format warping it is to have card advantage in the command zone. I played Jeska/Ishai for a while. The deck can be explosive but often hellbent which is ironic in these colors.
I've got my own version of this deck... its a constant threat and very adaptive/interactive
What do you think about this build? I love T3feri + Kitten + Mox Opal. Got angel's grace in the deck to be able to generate infinite mana and drawing the entire library.
Woo, Cam's hair lookin stronggg and healthy
This one is WAY over due. Thanks bois!!!!!!!!
Casually waits for a Dina deck tech video maybe 👀👀👀 hopefully in the future. Much love

(Also channeling the fact that i cut preordain after it gave me 3 top deck lands in a row in turn 3  )
Love these deck explanation videos
This is awesome, I’m not familiar with Grist so I gotta figure out what’s up with grist and how come it’s so bad for jeska ishai
Cam, you can't phase out your bird with teferi. The minus 3 says target creature an opponent controls phases out
I won't stop till J Darg Deck tech is uploaded 😤
I LOVE HERMITS DECK
Edit:
And Cams! I just love Jesk//ai
Ponder is better if you want to find a specific card or you want to shuffle. Otherwise preordain is always better.
I play Breya, and similar to Jeska/Ishai there's no card advantage in the command zone. I feel like Ledger Shredder is going to go HARD in decks like this. Jeska/Ishai two birds 🎆
Where do you get those duals Cam??? I’m loving them 😍😍
Would love to see a Malcom Kraum deck tech
I love this deck. I'd be interested seeing how it operates as more of a control deck with archmage emeritus and wavebreak hippocamp. Also it's ponder right because you potentially see a 4th card?
By how long is Cameron's Hair, i believe he could do a Jeska's cosplay. It would be fun to see him as a male jeska
Happy Easter fellas!
Could you guys do a budget cedh version of this deck?
Y’all should grab Tyler or Nate for a deck tech
Can we get one of these for Najeela? I've been working on my own build and would like see y'all's take on it!
I mean you just need Derevi out, 4 tokens, Najeela and a rainbow land that doesn't deal you damage and you win.
@@Magidex Najeela gives the attacking creatures lifelink post activation so the damage dealing land doesn’t matter in that scenario :)
@@Magidex I know the main combo and I've got that down. I'm more curious about what the flex slots and interaction package might look like for them compared to my build. It's mostly a curiosity and thought experiment type thing. Maybe they have tech I don't or vice versa!
@@MichaelJohnMAGA whoops. Derp. Doesn't even matter if it's City of Brass, what a world!
where did cam get those og dual proxies? they're beautiful and i want to pick some up for myself
YESSSS! Thank You!
Did you struggle like I did with your deck box choices by having your commanders in top loaders?
lol 18:35 what about lands
I run 29 lands, 28 of them are good
:D :D
sounds pretty darn fun to play this deck tbh
Hey, Play to Win! What are those proxy duals you showed? Are they for sale somewhere?
Never played against this deck but basically seems like “Hopefully i dont die by turn 5 to that thing” from what i’ve seen from you guys
Hey dudes, love the content. And I
Don’t wanna be that guy but Teferi master of time can not phase out a creature you control
Ponder is definitely better, you see an extra card and can shuffle before draw. There’s def a reason it’s restricted and Preordain isn’t in Vintage :p
Really like the way you cover mulligans here 👍
I love that cam has found a fun deck in Cedh to play, ive always enjoyed Kwain in high end casual, so I hate to ask, but do you think Kwain is viable as a 9 power? Without the use of boring isochron? I was thinking anything from Knowledge pool to Mind over matter, but it just doesnt feel enough. I know everything cant be Cedh worthy lol. But its fun to see you guys deck tech
Have you considered Lore Drakkis? Great deck tech btw
For the 5 card hand… wouldn’t bottoming the brain freeze and J Will be good because spell seeker tutors for one of them or something else?
Is there a substitute for lion’s eye diamond with underworld breach that is semi-viable (for casually competitive), even if it requires more cards for the combo? Thanks.
Jeska/Ishai has been my main deck over the last months. Really like the option to kill the stax player before you go off. My build also runs Barrin/dockside, I just think barrin is not a dead card in isolation, really like it. Just curious, why running abrade over resculpt?
Also. Have you tried running urza’s saga? I like it because it not only feeds the graveyard but also can fetch LED
I was brewing up a deck with these commanders as well how would you feel throwing some double strike granting instants for small bird commander damage threats?
What do you guys think about Pako/Haldan as a CEDH deck?
My personal favorite would have to be Armix Kraum
Wouldn't it be crazy if these got put on spotify😧??
What do you use to simulate pods?
Not gonna lie I thought this was gonna be a 4 way game with the same commander!
Aigain love you guys!
15:14 In a world full of fetchlands, I say Ponder is better. Brainstorm is the best with shuffle effects, then Ponder is close second.
Teferi, Master of Time can only phase out creatures you don't control
I just noticed you dont run windswept heath, makes since cuz white isnt the most important color, but id assume you ran as much fetches as possible lol
Is it worth it to run this deck if you aren’t on LED or Intuition? I want to own all the cards(I already do mostly), but I don’t want to buy those two.
These videos go hard
