Used a 2060 for 3 years without issue. It's a higher-end 1080p or low-end 1440p card at most, and that's just fine. I never had an issue with VRAM limitations. Most AAA games at 1080p high settings hovered around 4 to 4.5GB RAM usage. Buying the 2060 and expecting any kind of playable performance at 4K with high-res textures is a misunderstanding of the card's intended segment.
6gb has started to be a problem at 1080p ultra in some games like doom eternal, Valhalla, watchdog legion etc it's fine for now but future cards have to be more hence the laptop 3060 is a bit yikes with just 6gb while 6600M comes etc 8gb
@@theDragoon007yaboiCJ 1) Optimization costs money. You need to put the effort into making the least powerful version as good lookin as you can, that rarely happens because 2 2) Tech developers are in leagues with game developers, they need new games to push new cards, not old 2nd hand retail ones, so some games are lacking on purpose. Others not, like GTA or Skyrim, for the sake of lasting years. It's a creative and monetary decision, not lazyness imo.
@@MiguelBaptista1981 monetary yes ,creativity honestly not as much anymore. I get that it's hard to come up with a creative game nowadays but smaller developers have shown there are still many areas to explore like splitgate and their portal/arena style shooter. Companies are just too afraid of change because if they change wrong that means monetary change. Then there is esports aka the cancer of gaming making a lot of online games just not fun anymore because of how esports oriented it is and people taking it wayyy too serious. This also makes a lot of companies want to have their own eSports games and listen to their eSports community rather than making fun games because that's what makes them money. It's hard to find a game made with love and passion. But yeah you're right it's not the developers, its the directors. Like cyberpunk 2077 being rushed to release and having to cut a lot of content and releasing an unfinished mess. Why? money. There's also over reliability of DLSS, because as a matter of fact even high-end couldn't run some games without DLSS and it's honestly ridiculous. Then there's ray tracing that is demanding and can look good, but some games have it implemented purely for marketing reasons, and others rely on it and get lazy when making the non ray traced lighting, because everyone has ray tracing on right?. Not to mention it's a noisy mess in 1080p and still is in high resolutions in some games. And again, this is all due to money.
Seeing all these news about Nvidia "officially" price cutting their high end GPUs and I wonder why the 3050 is still over $300? Like is it really selling that well at that price or is their something we don't know? With the 6600 being $260 and 2060 going for $320 no would should look at the 3050
because it still sells also prices are going down on the high end because they want to clear those out, since the high end cards of the 40 series will be the first to come out, not the weaker cards
Watching A TON of GPU related videos since the release of RTX 3000 series there were a lot of voices saying that it is simply not profitable for Nvidia at MSRP so this may be a reason, though with the price crash happening I expect it to reach MSRP. Same for the 3060 MSRP, I think starting with 3060ti and up the MSRP is ok and profitable.
unfortunately, although rx 6600 is faster and cheaper, there are some monitor compatibility / black screen issues and nvidia typically are more being used due to its stability. also, people do not care about the $/fps or cost efffectiveness. They simply look at what's "affordable". they probably would not get 3090 even if it is listed for 600~700, because it is simply out of their budget.
This is the comparison I have been looking for. Everybody is talking about high-end cards, but a lot of people are interested in the sub 300€, and imo that will be the most interesting market to watch.
A video with the 3 cards would be great, I think lots of people would be interested in seeing them side by side. Basically a comparison of the actually worthy low-end cards. (the 1630, 6400 and 6500 never happened and don't exist in my mind lol)
Would be interesting to see the 12Gb 2060 performance. But yeah, I've seen RX 6600 prices second hand drop hugely and with warranty left for a fair amount of time.
@Ted Teddy it doesn't, it performs like the 2060 super because it has the same amount of cuda cores, but it has fewer ROPs and a smaller memory bus (or rather the ROPs and memory bus is unchanged from the 2060 6GB, but it has more memory and more cuda cores).
@Ted Teddy a lot of games call for more than 6gb of vram these days. The 12gb is more practical even if the difference isnt visible in benchmarks. In real usage scenarios double the vram is definitely an advantage. Ive used over 10gb in plenty of newer games with my 3060.
I'd recommend the 3050 if it was the same price. But often it's as expensive as the rx 6600, but at least the 2060 can be bought around $200 used. Unfortunately Nvidia has really really neglected this price point
@@colgado693 Honestly for $250 I don't think it's that bad. You get better ray tracing and more ram for less power consumption than a 2060. Though even the rx 6600 is approaching $250 at this point so it's still a better deal
Even at same price point nope. 50 series cards have 128-bit bandwidth vs 192-bit. You might wonder what's their importance? Say, if we take example 2060 6gb - 1920 cuda cores (192-bit) - Say gets 60 fps 2060 Super - 2176 cuda cores (256-bit) - Gets 72+ fps 2060 12gb - 2176 cuda cores (192-bit) - Gets 61 fps. Same with 3050, It has cuda cores enough to go over 2060 super but due to bandwidth it's even slower than 2060.
& 10 fps is big difference considering 2060 - 1660 TI = 10 fps 2060 Super - 2060 = 15 fps 2070 - 2060 Super = 10 fps ... It costs around 80$ for 10 fps (It's very rough estimate and difference changes per game and gpu). So in short, Pick 60 series card.
Thanks for this comparison! I just picked up a 2060 on Cyber Monday for $180, because it was just too good a deal. Looks like it still performs great at 1440p with DLSS, with textures and shadows one notch below maximum.
The CPU utilization might be an interesting study. The 2060 is using more CPU probably to swap assets in and out. Regardless of what GPU is preforming better.
CPU usage goes up with fps. The fps is usually higher for 2060 in the games displayed. You may be referring to even higher cpu usage but I am just saying that a good bit of it is explained by the higher framerates.
That could be also because the 3050 was both much cooler (thermalwise) and used way less power than the 2060. I kinda have the same issue with my 2070 card that, sure i have quite a bit of juice in the can (can easily use over 2ghz OCd without crashing), but it uses alot of power and can get very hot, very quickly. And the best solution is undervolting and/or lower the power limit.
Good video. I bought a rtx 2060 6gb at launch. It was a decent upgrade over the gtx 1060 6gb I was running. It's also when I noticed that it was time to upgrade my cpu/pc from a Xeon 1366 6c/12t cpu. I went with a new ryzen based pc. I also then upgraded the 2060 to a 2070 for the 2gb extra of vram for 1440p gaming.
I would prefer when you do the side by sides if you would match them by settings and not by Card type. So for example, when you had 4 side by sides between these two cards, I'd rather have the 2 1080p panels side by side then the way you had it here where you put the panels side by side based on the card. It just makes it easier to compare the frame rates when they are next to each other than when there is a 1440p or dlss panel between the 2 you want to compare. I know this was a comparison of the 2 nvidia cards but I'd probably still prefer the Rx 6600 especially now that you can find it for 250 to 260. The value is just too strong. The only reason to consider the nvidia cards in my opinion is if you have an application based need for them. And even then at the price difference it might not make sense.
What a timing of a video Daniel. My 2060 just arrived and i bought it for about $280. A perfect choice for me to hold out until 4000 series considering 3050 is still $340 in my country.
Interesting that the 2060 FPS looks higher in most settings but you can visibly see the "notchiness" and it's also represented as frame time in the graph. The 3050 appears visually "smoother" even a lower FPS, and the graph does not have the frame time spikes.
Really good comparison of both cards, Thank You, and I can see that rtx 3050 has a bit of low TDP compared to 2060 but at a cost of some drops in frames.
Lower power draw than in other games is typical for Forza Horizon series. I've noticed that long time ago in Forza Horizon 4, where my RTX 2080 Super was drawing 200-220W instead of ~250W. The same situation is in Forza Horizon 5.
I looked at Steam stats and the top 8 cards are: 1060, 1650, 1050 Ti, 2060, 3060 laptop, 1050, 1660 Ti, then 3060. So you have to get to the 8th most popular card before you see a card with more than 6 GB VRAM, and a good 1/3 of the gaming population uses the first 7 cards, and many of the other cards on the list have 6 GB or less, too. I don't see a world in which gaming manufacturers will decide out of the blue that 6 GB VRAM is not enough and basically make the game unplayable for most people.
also consoles, lot of games are limited by the consoles and the xbox series S only has 10gb of shared memory. so any major game wanting to launch on all major platforms will be limited by that. a quick google search shows me a series S is about equivalent to a 1070 or 1650 or something, ofcourse there will always be some Crysis like exceptions on PC but the majority of games probably won't require much more than that. (would probably be at 30 Fps though and it might be low settings seeing how consoles are more optimized ofcourse)
@@FrgottenFrshness ehm ua-cam.com/video/gn7nqZnXvgE/v-deo.html' maybe you're talking about the 2060 Super? Vram isn't everything you know and I don't really see why any 2060 would need 12 GB. seems like it's just manufacturers trying to fool people with bigger numbers
@@zwenkwiel816 did you even watch the video in your comment??? During the horizon zero dawn testing at the end the 2060 12gb is actually using 8,400mb+ of the vram clearly if it was just the 2060 6gb it would have tanked hard in the test because it would have ran out of vram and during all the other tests it's using over 7,000mb of vram which the original 2060 6gb wouldn't be able to do because it's limited to 6gb. Does it need 5,000gb no does it need more than the original 6gb yes clearly the video you posted shows that so again your point is???
Great video, I was loking for an in-depth comparison between these two cards! Also, do you have a full review of the RX 6600 at current prices? Because it might be a good idea to revisit it given the insane prices it's going for. Thanks for all the hard work you put in!
I mean I’m sure he wouldn’t mind making more videos to make money off of, but can’t you just add a couple % performance to the 3050 in the 3050 vs 6600 video? Where vram isn’t a issue obviously.
I also purchased a new 2060 Super (in a damaged box) for less than the typical price (in the UK) of a 2060, 3050 or 6600!! This appears to be closer in performance (but slightly slower) to the 3060 that does not seem to be seeing any real price drops yet. Needed nVidia for the photography/3D side of my requirements so more than happy with this GPU combined with the i7 12700K.
The hardest part to run from my experience is the entrance to Alfheim. That area for some reason is so intensive that I had to turn down graphics in Alfheim despite getting a 60-70 fps experience in other parts of the map. Its just way too stuttery.
Yeah you know there's also the 12GB 2060 version that is often still cheaper than the 3050 or just slightly more expensive... In this case it's a no brainer. On the 3050 release I've seen some point that it had an abnormal amount of pop-in and stutter when loading new areas, maybe you could see if that's cause by the slower VRAM on the 3050 or if it maybe was just a driver fluke from early drivers? You could compare the 3050 to the 2060 12GB as to eliminate the amount of VRAM issue.
I have a laptop with the 3050 and its definitely driver problem I too was having some problem when I updated my Windows machine somehow it also update of the graphics card, the one working the best with the 3050 right now is Version 512. I used this machine basically only for editing and not gaming, I noticed the problem when my Premiere Pro timeline can handle 4-8 Layers of graded adjustment layer and the Next day it suddenly lag like hell, like it slows down the whole machine when it comes to editing my first guest was performance mode: so I change to Perfomance and Turbo same thing. Then I then Check my drivers: and see that the Nvidia was updated: update to the latest one around 570 I think. Luckily I always do a system backup and Restore my System. Then I downloaded manually the driver of 512 to see if its the culprit, and download a latest one, I manually install the latest one and turns out its the culprit. To make sure that my assumption was correct I reformatted the Machine with 20h1 Version of windows, install wu10man to make sure no windows update will happened, Install the latest one then find its still the culprit and then I uninstall and put back version 512, it solves the problem. So for People having problem with 3050 its mostly the driver is the Culprit. I've tried both rtx2080 and 3050 and I must say in terms of 4k heavy editing 3050 gives me the upper hand. So I Don't get people calling 3050 a garbage, probably they suck at optimizing windows and their setup or they don't have a clue about computers.
@@exogendesign4582 omg same i updated my windows to 22h2 while having the last nvidia driver and pc started crashing i did nvidia driver update with the new windows update still pc still crashes , so i restored back the old 21h2 with the new nvidia driver and it worked i think its windows problem , pc no longer gives me blue screen.
The PNY XLR 8GB RTX 2060 OC would be the way to go here in this situation if you come across it at the near the same price. It's the one I went with at the start of my PC gaming Journey, and still runs my games well at 4K high settings, Shadows set to low. With 8GB of GDDR6 Ram and a higher clock speed, this card definitely would have the horsepower to render those assets in Horizon Zero Dawn.
The performance difference on the FPS is minimal if any in most games. But the difference in power draw can be quite high, almost double in some games.
Other than the power usage which is around 50% higher for 2060 for similar performance as 3050, it's a buy. Still, 3050 seems quite power efficient little bugger and with little undervolting and tweaking it would be a terrific card. Too bad it costs way too much to be a real consideration in current market.
What do you think about the 2060 with 12GB? Or does the (probably) higher price make either the 3060 (if 12GB is needed) or the 6600 (if not) better choices?
if it's anywhere less than 20-30% Cheaper than a new 3060 then hell nope. Just wait for prices to go down and grab a 3060 instead You get both newer architecture and about 25-30% faster with far more VRAM. Or a 6600/6600XT
@@danielowentech for whatever reason here in the UK the 2060 12GB version regally goes on sale for about £5 less than the 2060 standard edition, and about £50 cheaper than the cheapest 3050 cards. Possible as a result of it offering worse mining performance than the standard version, so I would go with the 2060 12GB every time for gaming over paying more for 3050.
at the 400$ and below price point you would be an idiot to buy nvidia. The 6600 is gtx 1080ti level performance at 1080p while the rtx 3050 is near identical to the gtx 1070. thats two full tiers of rasterization performance between these cards with the 1080ti equivalent AMD card being cheaper. when you move up to the 6600xt and the 6650xt it gets even more astonishing. The 6650xt was a bad card at 410-450$ when it launched but they are selling for 350-370$ now and these cards not only OC to 2.9ghz consistently but they also have faster 18gbs memory giving them a solid bump in bandwidth. The 6650xt overclocked and undervolted runs very close to a 3060ti at 1080p and at ~350ish dollars that would be my purchase if i was buying right now. A 6600 (nonxt) for 280$ and below is also a solid budget option. EDIT: this is based on buying right now prices for new cards. I still recommend you wait for prices to go even lower and if you start seeing 3060ti's for under 400$ then that would change the equation.
To be fair yeah im an idiot for buying rtx 2060 😂 while it almost has the same price as rx 6600. But i want to have some pride when i show off my pc. If you flex an rtx normal people would be like "woah" but if u flex a radeon normal people would be like "wtf is that". So it's all just an ego boosting don't follow this path 😂😂😂.
@@calibursonya3690 so compensating for your complete lack of confidence and masculinity? ok, got it. Everyone does this shit. Buying overpriced dogshit designer products to impress other people. Dont be one of those chumps.
The rtx 3050 having like 40 watt less power consumption can be easily overclock with Msi afterburner to catch up the rtx 2060 fps maintaining the advantage of 2 gb more vram. The "new" model of rtx 2060 with 12 gb have sense if you find it at good price especially if you do some video editing as well as playing. ( but take in mind that consume a little more of normal rtx 2060 so the difference from the rtx 3050 become 50-60 watt)
2060 SUPER with 8g vram resolves this vram issue. Also has much better performance than a 2060 non super and much better performance over the 3050. Personaly, if I was in the market for a budget GC, and would like to stay in the NVIDIA architecture, I def would go with the 2060 SUPER instead of the 3050 and the 2060 non super.
Yeah i was thinking of going 2060 super, but sadly 2060 super is listed for about $400 whereas 2060 is only going for about $280 and 3050 is $320 single fan $340 dual fan. So i think it's a no brainer to go for 2060 rather than those 2 gpus, but every country has different pricing so i think suit whats best with the budget. But then again this upgrade is just for me to wait for the 4000 series, cant deal with the crap of my gtx 1050 lol.
Yeah, my brother got a 2060 12GB new from his local microcenter not too long ago and he's been happy with it. He started streaming on UA-cam and stuff.
This is interesting. I do notice some "chugging"/frame skips in the 2060 that isn't there in the 3050, regardless of the FPS. The 2060 seems to need more power to match the 3050. Thanks for the video. Subbed.
I have a 2060 super which has 8GB of ram. I've had this for about 3 years now and its been really good although I play only at 1080p. I did read the odd comment here and there that this card was comparable to a 3060 but I have no idea how close they truly are. I'm sure the 2060 super would still be cheaper than a 3060.
Somehow i always end up on this channel. Every once in a while i have some specific question and boom there you are with an answer lol. Keep up the good work!
The irony is for about what these cost you can buy a 6600XT on newegg right now which in performance even beats the 3060. Both of these cards are incredibly bad value in comparison.
6600xt currrently is probably the best value proposition on the market. It does however have some downsides and is fair bit more expensive than than RTX 3050 or 2060. RTX 2060 though can be had on used market for very low prices nowadays.
If you can find an 2060 super cheaper than a 3050 go with that. They're 8 GB and have more cores and wider vram bus New ones are still out there for $20 cheaper than 3050

i would choose rtx 3050 8 gb. The 2gb extra vram helps in video rendering and photoshop. Also, it draws less electricity. I don't play competitive games so much, that would be the reason I chose the rtx 3050
Power usage being lower than normal even at full load just means the game/application just isn't all the gpu has to offer. For example, you ain't using RT cores unless you're using RT. That usually changes when you up the resolution too, but you didn't on Forza. Assassin's Creed/Far Cry game engine's work the same.
Good comparison but, I think you are not explaining important details like temperatures, power consumption and also overclocking which in my opinion, can be decisive factors when buying.
I always buy used GPUs from CEX in the UK which comes with 24 months warranty and never had an issue. Plus you can sell your existing card to them for store credit.
literally bought an used 2060 today for around 300$, a new 3050 is being selled for 400$ at my country, the same price as the 6600 xt, nice comparison to confirm I made the right choice, now it is time to wait until the next gen
People in comments and even person who made this comparison keep forgetting about one important thing here. FPS is not everything. Look at 7:36 for example, this is NOT a tie, sure 2060 has a 1 or 2 FPS higher, but look closely, 2060 has a very noticeable stuttering, while 3050 runs much smoother. 2060 may be more powerful, but 3050 uses newer technology.
2060 still goes hard, i play a mix of singleplayer and competetive games, im more than fine with dlss max graphics 60 frames, and 200 frames in esport titles. I dont have any reason to upgrade yet, but im still going to and i have no clue why, 3070 for 300$ is on its way
11:11 Forza horizon 5 and 4s engine doesn't use full power draw, only at 4K gpu might hit their max tdp. At 1080p in that game low power draw is normal, pretty similar thing is going on with ubisofts anvil 2 engine.
Thank you so much for these videos i am in the process of buying a new video card for my 1080p gaming setup and it seems like i will go with the rx 6600
People living in temperate zones should consider the temperature differences I think. Since the 2060 does consume more power it will produce more heat relative to the 3050. Just some food for thought cause I pay for my electricity bill now, so I do consider more stuff that I didn't before when buying parts.
I did this thinking too before buy my parts less heat less power consumption , fans have lower rpm or under 60degree even stop ,so is silent , lower electrical bill and most important thing you can play all the year even during summer with temps on gpu of 60-64 max and cpu 56-60 (i have ryzen 5600x and msi gaming x 3050) . Now imagine a gpu of 300 w for example heat herself a lot , heat up even the cpu and heat up even the room so you forced to stop playing games :)
I can get a second hand Palit StormX 3050 for £180 or an MSI Gaming Z 2060 for £210. It's a tough one although the 2060 is dual fan and I will be using it a Silverstone ML08 slim ITX case so dual fan may be better for thermals. Hmm. I'm not worried about max settings and only aiming for 1080/60 as it's a portable build. Such a dilemma!
98-99% utilisation and low power draw on FH5 colour me not surprised, except for the paint shader on the cars, the ALUs are doing nothing and TMU are doing the heavy lifting. Don't think there's anything to optimise by the driver, the textures and surfaces just need to be fetched, no way around that.
So from my perspective, its all about price. But its like 170w vs 120w. 150-200 usd 2060 after thermal pads changing could be a deal, especially close to 150 usd mark or even lower. But for those who looking future proof, 300-320 usd 3050 might be a better choice, driver + wattage + cooler longevity wise + 2 gb additional VRAM. But once those will be close to 200 usd, that's a no brainer purchase.
i highly recommended get rtx 3050 in this year because in the future u still have chance to upgrade the gpu in just 5 years or 10 years or if you have already used rtx 2060 do the same thing dont upgrade it... and also the reason why i get 3050 cause 8gb maybe for editing.. well rtx 2060 same thing like 6gb or 12gb if u wanna go 2060 sure but its your choice cause i really like latest one... 3050 but i still have chance to upgrade again in just 10 years :)
Nothing against your testing, but you cannot test this way....the 2060 is 10°C higher and this slows the boost A LOT...The test should be performed at the same temperature, so both gpus get the same boost "situation"....your 2060 goes 1920 mhz at 70°....that's really high, it means that at 55° it could boost over 2050 mhz....that means more performance!
Hey my friend. If i upgrade my Ryzen 5 1600x to a I5 12400F while using a Rtx 2060. Do you think my Gaming Experience will improve and its a good investment? Ty for you help or any help from the Community! :)
for those who are seing this video after the RTX REMIX announcement, a good thing to know is that Remix is NOT supported by RTX 20 series so, if u want this feature, is better go with 3050
I had a 2070 and just recently bought a cheap used 3090 without warranty and I could not be happier. I never used a gpu long enough for it to die on me so I hope that it will last until 40x0 gets released. Would be a waste to not use all those high end ex-miner cards.
Spot on. The 3050 has no place in any gaming rig. It's slower than a 1660 Super from a few years back and ray tracing is utterly useless on it even with DLSS. At it's MSRP it's a joke. Nvidia should be ashamed.
You are absolutely right In my country the rtx 3050 is 11k and the rtx 2060 is almost 11k so I bought a pre built pc and with the rtx 3050 and i think i Made a good decision cuz I don't wanna run out of vram
with overclock ,the 3050 easily get more 10% more performance, as 2060 have 10-20% more performance with overclock core and memory to around 200+ and 1000+ 2060 can only push 0-10% performance yet with 30 more watt and only 6gb vram. I overclocked my 3050 with 200 and 1050 plus and get 10% better performance with same watt tdp and same temp
3050 was DOA. The only reason why people got it was because they bought it during the mining and scalping time when better 30 series cards werent available. The card has no other purpose compared to older 20 series cards, unless for some reason your self imposed TDP limit was staying under 150 Watts. Then it is an energy efficient card. But in this budget segment you wont ever be able to run ray tracing properly, so you might as well have gotten an AMD card for the same price as a 3050 and gained more FPS.
On Cyberpunk, try 1440p high, Ray traced lighting off, but turn on ray traced reflections with DLSS Balanced. DLSS balanced will net you a considerable bump in framerate in Cyberpunk 2077, but while there is a quality difference, it's so small, you'd be hard pressed to spot it in most scenes. Really hard pressed. So while on the 2080Ti , I opt for DLSS quality with ray tracing, on the 2060, I don't really see using the Balanced preset of DLSS as a downgrade. You'll definitely get better quality than 1080p and possibly a better overall performance. If you do get better "overall" performance at 1440p high, with RT reflections and Balanced DLSS, that may just be the way to go. If you can maintain 60+ FPS at those settings, then try turning on interior and exterior ray traced shadows. Those really aren't that expensive. But don't waste your time with raytraced lighting on the 2060. It runs crap even on the 2080Ti. This recommendation to try, is based on my own testing from a couple weeks ago. Ray traced reflections and shadows in Cyberpunk are not that demanding on the cards. Ray traced Lighting on the other hand, is brutal on the cards and generally not worth it. And for some reason in Cyberpunk, even when you can maintain a 60+ FPS with RT Lighting enabled, there's still a notable and "feel"able lag in the game. To the point where I just gave up on it. Plus, the global lighting in Cyberpunk is so good, that while there is a difference between enabling and disabling RT Lighting, it's really small and only really noticeable in very select scenes. To be blunt, just using RT reflections and both RT shadows (there's two RT shadow options now) while leaving RT Lighting completely off, will get you 90% of the Ray Tracing experience, at a fraction of the performance cost.
You can overclock the 3050 to eliminate the 2060 performance advantage and that still give you lower watt consumption , once games push vram usage higher than 5GB, the 2060 will lose to 3050 the 2060 perform 10-20% better, so even with 3050 overclocked the 2060 will still have 10% more advantage with 20% more tdp still looks good to me
from a guy who just bought a 3050 ti laptop and has had an intel uhd graphics processer, I'm not really sad In fact I'm happy I'll get like the in the 30 fps range it looks so smooth
I would never pick the 6GB card in Mid-2022; even if the performance is a little bit lower. Im using 8GB cards (or more) since 2015, so maybe its just me.
Why would someone play 4K with those gpus? lol, I believe that cards like the RTX 2060 and RTX 3050 as well as the RX 6500 XT and 6600 are designed to play only at 1080p with a graphic quality that ranges between medium and high (depending on the game and optimization)
So if there is a decent price gap 2060 is the option to go, ibe seen some of them for below 300€ while the 3050 ibe seen was like 340-360€, but for the same price...3050 maybe? It does have more VRAM.
@LegendZzFTW GTX 1080 TDP = 180 W RTX 2060 TDP = 160 W Sure... Huge difference. FSR works fine with older pascal hardware just check videos gtx 1050ti FSR 2.0 cyberpunk example. Also pointing out that RTX 2060 is 6gb only with lesser memory bandwidth. Meaning some tasks/games that ask more memory bandwidth suffer a bit with 2060
for $220 it would be, even if barely, worth it as a new card. Today. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, but today. The fact that people pay $320 and even more is insane to me.
With the market how it is now for midrange, you are better of buying a used 2070-2070 super at that price rather a new 2060 or 3050, those cards are just damn dissapoiting when it comes for perfomance per $.

6gb has started to be a problem at 1080p ultra in some games like doom eternal, Valhalla, watchdog legion etc it's fine for now but future cards have to be more hence the laptop 3060 is a bit yikes with just 6gb while 6600M comes etc 8gb
even 8gb has started to become a problem in 1080p in some games but honestly i really blame lazy optimization in games lately.
@@theDragoon007yaboiCJ
1) Optimization costs money. You need to put the effort into making the least powerful version as good lookin as you can, that rarely happens because 2
2) Tech developers are in leagues with game developers, they need new games to push new cards, not old 2nd hand retail ones, so some games are lacking on purpose.
4k medium setting good for 2060
Seeing all these news about Nvidia "officially" price cutting their high end GPUs and I wonder why the 3050 is still over $300? Like is it really selling that well at that price or is their something we don't know? With the 6600 being $260 and 2060 going for $320 no would should look at the 3050
because it still sells
also prices are going down on the high end because they want to clear those out, since the high end cards of the 40 series will be the first to come out, not the weaker cards
Most people are brainwashed by Nvidia at this point and go for 3050 over 6600 even if it's more expensive 😂
Microcenter is still selling 1660 Super for $330.
unfortunately, although rx 6600 is faster and cheaper, there are some monitor compatibility / black screen issues and nvidia typically are more being used due to its stability. also, people do not care about the $/fps or cost efffectiveness. They simply look at what's "affordable". they probably would not get 3090 even if it is listed for 600~700, because it is simply out of their budget.
Today, the RTX 2060 12GB is like $50 to $80 cheaper than 3050s. Interesting. I'd still take a faster 6600 over both though.
Plus the 12gb model is even better than the normnal 2060.
In the uk the rtx 3050 is like £280-£320 and the 2060 12gb is £340-£400.
@@noaerrr you're so unlucky

This is the comparison I have been looking for. Everybody is talking about high-end cards, but a lot of people are interested in the sub 300€, and imo that will be the most interesting market to watch.
That is because everything beside the RTX 3080 12GB, RX 6900XT, 6800XT and 6700XT is an insult in one way or another.
250$ on prime day for a 6600
Insaneeee 🤩
@Ted Teddy it doesn't, it performs like the 2060 super because it has the same amount of cuda cores, but it has fewer ROPs and a smaller memory bus (or rather the ROPs and memory bus is unchanged from the 2060 6GB, but it has more memory and more cuda cores).
12gb varient is for content creation. In gaming it's same
@Ted Teddy a lot of games call for more than 6gb of vram these days. The 12gb is more practical even if the difference isnt visible in benchmarks. In real usage scenarios double the vram is definitely an advantage. Ive used over 10gb in plenty of newer games with my 3060.
@@lycanthoss That's cap mate.
I'd recommend the 3050 if it was the same price. But often it's as expensive as the rx 6600, but at least the 2060 can be bought around $200 used. Unfortunately Nvidia has really really neglected this price point
3050 is garbage
@@colgado693 Honestly for $250 I don't think it's that bad. You get better ray tracing and more ram for less power consumption than a 2060. Though even the rx 6600 is approaching $250 at this point so it's still a better deal
Even at same price point nope. 50 series cards have 128-bit bandwidth vs 192-bit. You might wonder what's their importance?
Say, if we take example
2060 6gb - 1920 cuda cores (192-bit) - Say gets 60 fps
2060 Super - 2176 cuda cores (256-bit) - Gets 72+ fps
2060 12gb - 2176 cuda cores (192-bit) - Gets 61 fps.
Same with 3050, It has cuda cores enough to go over 2060 super but due to bandwidth it's even slower than 2060.
& 10 fps is big difference considering
2060 - 1660 TI = 10 fps
2060 Super - 2060 = 15 fps
2070 - 2060 Super = 10 fps
...
It costs around 80$ for 10 fps (It's very rough estimate and difference changes per game and gpu). So in short, Pick 60 series card.
@@colgado693 then 2060 is worse than garbage, since 3050 outperforms it in vRAM-demanding games. 3050 is just more future proof for textures.
Thanks for this comparison! I just picked up a 2060 on Cyber Monday for $180, because it was just too good a deal.
Looks like it still performs great at 1440p with DLSS, with textures and shadows one notch below maximum.
The wattage was fun to watch. Sure, it was slower, but the efficiency of your 3050 was excellent beside the 2060 in the samples.
The CPU utilization might be an interesting study. The 2060 is using more CPU probably to swap assets in and out. Regardless of what GPU is preforming better.
CPU usage goes up with fps. The fps is usually higher for 2060 in the games displayed. You may be referring to even higher cpu usage but I am just saying that a good bit of it is explained by the higher framerates.
and has loser cpu temp
That could be also because the 3050 was both much cooler (thermalwise) and used way less power than the 2060. I kinda have the same issue with my 2070 card that, sure i have quite a bit of juice in the can (can easily use over 2ghz OCd without crashing), but it uses alot of power and can get very hot, very quickly. And the best solution is undervolting and/or lower the power limit.

I noticed that too. The frame time line though was only a little rough on the 2060. I suspect VRR would clear all that up

Still using 2060 last few years don’t have any issues yet although can feel when on 4k tv.
@@Dexiefy yeah, but 6600 (no xt) is about same price as 3050 and much better.
@@user-wq9mw2xz3j where I'm it's much cheaper
but you need pcie 4.0 compatibile motherboard to squeze full performance out of 6600xt
@@TestTest-ug5nu Even on 3.0 it has a very minimal performance hit at x8. You lose 2-3% according to most benchmarks.
My 2060 Super says "Chill bro, we're good for another 2yrs before needing to upgrade"
Can we do the video editing in rx6600
Power usage being lower than normal even at full load just means the game/application just isn't all the gpu has to offer. For example, you ain't using RT cores unless you're using RT. That usually changes when you up the resolution too, but you didn't on Forza. Assassin's Creed/Far Cry game engine's work the same.
Excellent video! Just bought the 2060 today for PHP17,079 (USD302)
As always by the time you run out of vram you have longs since past the point where the fps will in any way acceptable.
literally bought an used 2060 today for around 300$, a new 3050 is being selled for 400$ at my country, the same price as the 6600 xt, nice comparison to confirm I made the right choice, now it is time to wait until the next gen
Forza Horizon 5 is one of if not the best optimized recent game and this relates to lower power consumption at lower resolutions
Just bought a new 2060 EVGA during the prime days for 220 euros/$. Glad I made the right choice . ( I currently have a 1050 ti ) 😄
2 coolers or one?
I just got a used 2060 on ebay for 90 dollars. Its the perfect gpu for a budget build.
Thank you so much for these videos i am in the process of buying a new video card for my 1080p gaming setup and it seems like i will go with the rx 6600
I don't care if a card wins by 1 fps or 100, a win is a win. I have a 2060 and love it. Not worth the extra $ for a slower 3050.
a 2060 12gb would be perfect for both gaming and working
Even if you dont use all 12gb vram for gaming but it's also helpful in work
People living in temperate zones should consider the temperature differences I think.
@CENTURY_PC ON INSTAGRAM 🎮 I notice it so two of them are cheap right now in Amazon its actually good this days
for those who are seing this video after the RTX REMIX announcement, a good thing to know is that Remix is NOT supported by RTX 20 series
so, if u want this feature, is better go with 3050
I had a 2070 and just recently bought a cheap used 3090 without warranty and I could not be happier. I never used a gpu long enough for it to die on me so I hope that it will last until 40x0 gets released. Would be a waste to not use all those high end ex-miner cards.
Bro a 3090 shall be more than enough until 50x0 cards gets released
@@shawshank_1317 not sure, raytracing is a real game changer and is really hardware hungry. A few good rtx games would cause me to buy a 4090
Spot on. The 3050 has no place in any gaming rig. It's slower than a 1660 Super from a few years back and ray tracing is utterly useless on it even with DLSS. At it's MSRP it's a joke. Nvidia should be ashamed.
Unless your eyes are so damn good to see the difference between high and ultra both this gpus are enough for any games
Using rtx 2060 for 3 years now completed multiple AAA titles with ray tracing and also e sports titles i am happy might go for 4060 if it is worth
You are absolutely right
In my country the rtx 3050 is 11k and the rtx 2060 is almost 11k so I bought a pre built pc and with the rtx 3050 and i think i Made a good decision cuz I don't wanna run out of vram
I would take 3050 as it has 2GB VRAM more, its newer, cooler and TDP is lower.
with overclock ,the 3050 easily get more 10% more performance, as 2060 have 10-20% more performance with overclock core and memory to around 200+ and 1000+ 2060 can only push 0-10% performance yet with 30 more watt and only 6gb vram. I overclocked my 3050 with 200 and 1050 plus and get 10% better performance with same watt tdp and same temp
RX6600 walks all over those GPUs while being equally priced so for casual gamers the winner is obvious me thinks.
I got a 2060 Super for about $320 and I am very happy with it.
You can overclock the 3050 to eliminate the 2060 performance advantage and that still give you lower watt consumption , once games push vram usage higher than 5GB, the 2060 will lose to 3050
the 2060 perform 10-20% better, so even with 3050 overclocked the 2060 will still have 10% more advantage with 20% more tdp still looks good to me
One observation - 3050 about the same in several games with much lower temperatures. More headroom for OC and better performance?
I bought the 3050 for 370 and I'm regretting it so bad. But selling it makes no sense because there is no way I could get even close to 300
from a guy who just bought a 3050 ti laptop and has had an intel uhd graphics processer, I'm not really sad In fact I'm happy I'll get like the in the 30 fps range it looks so smooth
I would never pick the 6GB card in Mid-2022;
even if the performance is a little bit lower.
Im using 8GB cards (or more) since 2015, so maybe its just me.
Buy a used RX5600XT...faster than both... available from CEX for £200 with 24 month warranty...use FSR and the gap widens further.
I must ask, when you say playable settings? Is it 60+ fps for you? As for me anything that is no less than 30fps is playable
Brotha, if you buying an rtx you should aim for 60+ fps
Turn on gpu.dll plugin at msi ab, so you can get more info about vram: vram used by current game and shared memory (took from ram)
Maybe would be good to add GTX 1080 example in these tests with FSR enabled mods to compare?
As the performance should around the same atleast
@LegendZzFTW GTX 1080 TDP = 180 W
RTX 2060 TDP = 160 W
Sure... Huge difference.
FSR works fine with older pascal hardware just check videos gtx 1050ti FSR 2.0 cyberpunk example.
Also pointing out that RTX 2060 is 6gb only with lesser memory bandwidth. Meaning some tasks/games that ask more memory bandwidth suffer a bit with 2060
Why is the 2060 at 93% only while 3050 is maxed out?
the 3050 is good enough card, the only drawback is that it have only x8 lanes and mostly the pricing
it should be around 220$
for $220 it would be, even if barely, worth it as a new card. Today. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, but today. The fact that people pay $320 and even more is insane to me.
DLSS quality at 1440p, performance is ok at 4k.. I wouldn't bother with 1080p. My secondary PC I put a 12GB 3060 that was only 331.
Im either getting the 2060 or 3060. The 3050 just seems not worth it if you could get a 2060.
With the market how it is now for midrange, you are better of buying a used 2070-2070 super at that price rather a new 2060 or 3050, those cards are just damn dissapoiting when it comes for perfomance per $.
About 2 months ago you could get a 2060 for under 250.00 brand new, i bought one that's a very good deal. The price on it just went back up recently I just checked on the prices on NewEgg.
@@BurningUp99 paid $300 for a 2060 12gb
I'm going to hold to my RTX 2060 Super 8GB and use DLSS/FSR tech, until there is an RTX 5060 or AMD equivalent to replace it with, in 2024 most likely.
RX 5600 XT too
Me to brother , how much we gonna spend that day?

Side note: It is slightly better the RX 5700 in some things but not in others due to AMD ensuring it was not DOA.
Horizon zero dawn problem was u needed to let the texture cache rebuild in the background it still is happening they just removed the indicator that it is. But that will go away if u ran the benchmark again when the caching was done
you should compare the 2060 to 3060
That pop in and stuttering on the horizon benchmark only does that on the very first run. Did it with my 3070ti too. But not that bad lol.
It was repeatable on my 2060
@@danielowentech weird. I thought maybe it was storing information in the system ram so it just ran better on the second run. But my 3080ti doesn't do that lol.
Rtx 2060; I dedicate games at 720p at medium texture, 60 fps. I just need the bump of the fps
