    Yes I kept saying the Pelagos was 300 Meters of WR. I know it's 500M. I was sick. I blame that!
    I get asked all the time, which Tudor dive watch should I get? Since I've had hands on with all six over extended periods of time, I thought I had a good insight into which to buy when and why.

    I recently consolidated a few Tudors (Harrods, BB GMT, BB 58 blue) towards a Moser. Still kept the BB58 bronze, the P39 and the BB GMT S&G and am very content. The P39 is a wonderful watch. Tried the BB54 and must also say, very nice, maybe a tad too small for me personally but love the slimness and overall vibe.

    7.5" wrist here. Tried on the BB58 and thought it was too small, so definitely the 54 would be too small as well. The Pelagos was nice but maybe a little too thick in my opinion. I'd love a thinner Pelagos 39!

    The think about the BB54 and the Pelagos 39 is not only the smaller size, but the clasps for sizing. I'd get one of those, probably the Pelagos (no faux rivets).

    I think the blue 58 is the best diver Tudor make, maybe not as a tool cos it doesn’t have the glide lock, but as a modern interpretation of a classic - no custard lume no faux vintage nonsense beyond the rivets - just about perfect

    I bought a Blue BB58 December 2020; I decided I wanted a nice watch, went and tried some on, researched what was available at the time and landed on the blue. I'm not a collector (little chance I'll drop £3000 on another watch in my lifetime) but since then, I've kept an eye on the market and try to look at these things objectively. I can say that I am still very much content with my choice and agree that it is an absolute package, do anything, dress up/ down watch. The only subsequent release I have been tempted to trade into is the FXD but I think the limitations of the fixed lugs keeps me content. The P39 is also somewhat tempting, but not enough to push me to do something about it. I think if I was to buy now, I would be hard pressed to decide between those three.

    Just a nitpick, aesthetically I agree, that the Yachtmasters are just a more luxurious Submariner, but the Yachtmasters are all “only” 100m water resistant. It’s weird, really, because it kind of makes the Yachtmaster the only watch in the Professional lineup without a true purpose. They should have at least made it 200m water resistance to give it a leg up on a DJ, GMT, Daytona or any other model in terms of water resistance, even if it’s more symbolic than anything else.

  • @Kalmar917

    For be it is the BB58. I have a family heirloom Rolex Sub 6538. I tried the 54 but it does not wear like the 6538. I understand not everyone is going for the 58 to wear something like a 6538 but I did because you will never catch e wearing that watch in the wild.
    I tried the 54 and it is beautiful and feels great. Not too small in reality but it doesn’t give me that 6538 feeling. The 6538 or better put the 58 feels and wears almost exactly.
    The 6538 dimensions are as follows: 37.5-38mm x 47.5 lug to lug x 15.2mm thickness. Also the crown is 8mm. The BB58 is 39mm x 11.9mm thickness x 47mm lug to lug. Both sport 20mm lug width.
    So for me the BB58 is truer to that big crown if that is what anyone is looking for without have to spend 250K on a vintage Rolex. Let me tell you the BB58 is where it’s at when speaking about vintage. Oh forgot it has a 6.5mm crown. Just my thoughts. The Pelagos feels like the 5 digit sub. Great watch and in all honesty any choice you make with picking of the three isn’t wrong. All great choices!
    Lastly, I would wait until 2028. Something tells me Tudor is going to revamp the 58. They may shrink it down to 38mm with better gnarling on the bezel like the 54 and a crown that will be flush to the case. I have a funny suspicion on it but just a wild guess so if you don’t have a 58 you might want to wait.

    • @Bisley1
      @Bisley1 Рік тому

      Thanks for the insite. But you’d wait 5 years until 2028 for a new 58?^^ must be a typo. Rather just get one and sell it for a new one. What I would do though, is wait for the 58 to gef the new T Fit clasp like the 54. There’s great benefit in that if you have wrists that swell and shrink

    • @Kalmar917
      @Kalmar917 Рік тому

      @@Bisley1
      Yes, wait. You will find it hard to part with your 58 once you get one. I don’t plan on selling this original from 2018. Once you get one it’s a keeper. Also, they are not going to go up in value nor do I predict they will go down but they could. Patience is a virtue but each his own. Forgot to mention I have a 5 digit sub from 2005-06 D- Series which I bought for about 3500 maybe a little more. Cannot remember exactly how much but the 39mm Pelagos wears very similar obviously lighter. Coincidentally I prefer the 5-digit sub, two liner without the signed Renault or four lines. It’s the last series to be closer to that ol school sub. Also, only my opinion.

  • @ozmondos
    @ozmondos Рік тому +2

    Unpopular opinion: Pelagos 39 was on my list to buy even though I'm not a fan of Tudor's Snowflake hour hand, but given how well balanced the rest of the watch is, I wanted to get it. Then I realised it is only grade 2 titanium whereas Citizen uses much better quality titanium on it's much cheaper watches. So, it's not on my list anymore. If you're buying quartz, solar or titanium watches it's better to buy Japanese as they just do it better. That's not a subjective opinion, but an objective observation.

    • @tedj9
      @tedj9 Рік тому

      Yes, grade 5 is technically superior to grade 2 titanium. The question is, would that really impact day to day wearability or significantly impact your enjoyment of the Pelagos? What environment are you planning on wearing the watch? IMO these are the more important questions.
      If you are primarily concerned with grade 5 titanium, GS is one of the best options for a luxury watch. Citizen is not (yet) in remotely the same league as Tudor, however, they are beginning to push upmarket.

    • @ozmondos
      @ozmondos Рік тому

      @@tedj9 I am well aware that Tudor is a semi-luxury brand and Citizen is an affordable brand. My point was why would I spend more money on a watch when I know another cheaper watch is made with a better material? I was not comparing the brands, they cater to different segments of the market. Since you brought that up; you might not know Citizen also has a luxury sub-brand like Grand Seiko and their work with titanium (and overall finishing) does rival with GS. They were actually the first company to manufacture a watch made with titanium. They also created the first solar watch and the current most accurate watch is from Citizen as well. Judging brands by their price point is not a great idea, just like how it's not fair on Tudor to carry the stigma of being 'poor man's Rolex'.

    • @tedj9
      @tedj9 Рік тому

      @@ozmondos Yes, I am quite aware of Citizen The Citizen and their history, why I raised the point of them moving up market. Quartz and solar movements are a very different market segment and are not really a great comparison to Tudor. The Citizen is more of a GS competitor with a much less diverse product line that does not YET really compete with Swiss mechanical watches.
      Serious question, would you buy a watch with 316L steel? Because Ball has watches that use 904L. Why would you ever buy an Omega or anything more expensive than Ball with a worse case material? The point is specs are not the end all be all in luxury watches. There is much more to the decision. If case materials are your primary concern then that’s perfectly fine. You are just significantly limiting experiencing many watches you may enjoy.

    • @ozmondos
      @ozmondos Рік тому

      @@tedj9 What kind of titanium is used matters to me since grade 2 titanium picks up more stratches easily. I have a GS made of titanium which has held up pretty well. 904L is less corrosive than 316L but that is inconsequential since I hardly take my watches swimming in the sea and I haven't experienced any corrosion in any of my 316L steel watches. Also, I don't like the design of Ball watches. However, I really like Omega's co-axial movement. 'In house movement' label is used as a marketing gimmick but in reality most in house movements are based on age old ETA movements. Omega's co-axial movement is unique in that regard. I suppose we all look for something different in this hobby.

    • @tedj9
