6 Uses For Those Silica Gel Bags That Come With Everything You Buy

  • Don't throw these little bags out! Silica bags are found with new shoes and electronics. They contain silicon dioxide, aka "silica." Silica can absorb moisture and keep things dry.
    Here's how:
    1. Water-damaged phone? Leave it to silica to dry it right up.
    2. De-clump salt or sugar.
    3. Preserve stored ornaments and decorations.
    4. Keep your razors alive longer. The bags will dry out moisture and make the blades last longer.
    5. Smelly gym bag? Silica bags can prevent bacteria or mold from growing.
    6. Storing lots of photos together? The bags prevent moisture damage and photos from sticking together.
    You can reuse the bags by heating them up in an oven. Start collecting.

      Max _189 the blue beads are carcinogenic, they contain CoCl₂ which works as a moisture indicator (when blue they aren’t saturated and when pink they are). The clear ones are non-reactive and are generally fine (although it’s still best not to eat the beads themselves obviously).

      william olivares Absolutely! My friends and I love to use leftover silica salt to line our Margarita glasses. So for that I'd use a warm lime wedge and trace it along the rim of the glass. Then take your leftover Silica--or as we call it _Silky Salt_ , 😄 and line the glass with it by using a dip motion.

      @allisondoak9425 6 років тому +1

      Dennis Mejia probably about as bad as a toddler eating plastic beads. They don’t break down.

      The bag says throw away. Do not eat. I have always been told that they are toxic, so, yeah.

      Dennis Mejia They aren't poisonous but if you eat it then they could absorb all the water present in the body and can prove extremely fatal for health.
