Thank you sir for putting this video together. This is indeed very helpful. I am new to DAX and this solves my issue. One thing that I was trying this morning was to add a filter in the DAX query. I got it to work now. Thanks again

Man, this has been a life-saver. Utterly indispensable for using PBI datasets with paginated reports.

Really Good reminder Video if you've done it before and forgotten what is needed to get that parameter in place. That wee 'Hidden' Flag on the query Designer got me... Thanks you've helped me no end with that.

Thanks for this, could you do a video on how to setup parameters so they can be used with the Powerbi export to file for paginated reports connector and how to pass them in powerautomate?

Thank you so much, the fact that the parameter checkbox is not displayed by default based on the resolution is kinda crazy, I only figured it out thanks to you

Great video! Any tips for connecting to published datasets on the PBI service that are connecting to the data source via Direct Query? Oddly Report Builder doesn't render any data (vs connecting to a published dataset connecting via Import). Thanks!

I've never experienced that before. It should be supported. one possible course of action is rather than connect to the dataset, use the analysis services connector and connect to the XMLA endpoint instead. I guess you could also query the source data directly too

Can you set a date parameter that is descending and removes future dates?

I'm getting this error when creating a parameter based on a date range
"The property 'ValidValues' of report parameter 'FromLoadDataActivityDate' doesn't have the expected type."
does anyone know how to fix this ?

Hi Johnny, I have a power bi table that uses a measure, and I am filtering for today's date inside the measure (not with a slicer). But when I drag this measure in query designer, it doesn't filter. How can I get it to still filter?

Hey Greyskull, are there any perfomance differences between Power BI dataset and dataset based on direct Azure SQL and what's better to use?

    • @johnnywinter861

It depends on many different factors I'm afraid.
