oh my God. Khan is the best singer EVER and I'm so glad conception are back now! if you haven't listened to their new stuff yet you're missing out on so much
@@mousermind He is not even close he sings with closed throat now that is not real singing. He is too afraid to let his voice go.Even Karevik is better vocalist today.
@MrSilentDoubleA Great example is on Nights of Arabia on The Expedition CD compared to One Cold Winter's Nights version. He belts it out on ERASE THE SINS IVE MMMAAADDDEEEE back then
@Rotceev Yup he did lose his range, but personal opinion his tone got beter as the albums went on.The way his voice sounds on the black halo, ghost opera and PftP was great.
@Theyzenski Khan basically stopped doing any kind of high notes after 2000, no? I want him to book some coaching lessons like Tate did to get the high notes back, and then re-join Conception. (I wouldn't mind if he was the singer on Ark's upcoming disk either :)
Tore Ostby tried getting teached by Ronnie Le Tekro.. (TNT), but he refused. But goddamn he sounds awesome even without Ronnie's help! They live at the same place near Gjovik. Old classmates of mine. ;)
Lmao Khan is so dorky yet cute in this video... LOL @ his giant ankh necklace and shitty thrift store clothes. Sometimes I also prefer the weird-ass trad prog vibe of Conception to the commercialized bombast of Kamelot.
i read somewhere that nowdays roy smokes a bit and i'm sure it plays a major role in his voice.maybe if he could stop it it could be best for him and us.rather than that he still is the BEST!
I only know "march of mephisto" and I like it because Shagrath is in it, other than that it's a nice song, but I liked this singer better in Conception!
@TheJontslayer cant they both be awesome? lol, cuz they really are. i mean, ostby is great and all, but alot of that is that he worked with great vocalists like Roy Khan (as well as Jorn Lande, whos certainly no Khan, but hes certainly good), and i think they just compliment each other really well.
@Windaros They dont have Ø's, so why the hell did you pick on that? Anyway, when you only heared Symphonic Metal (Kamelot, Nightwish...very straight forward) This might sound a bit off, but if you take the msuic apart, it's clearly better. Østby is clearly a better guitar player, he plays faster basically. His style is also way more interesting that Youngblood's mixing Latin rythms and freaking heavy stuff. I wont ramble on, but please listen to some more prog stuff, however, PFTP is/was MAGIC!
You're going to get the fanboys all riled up... But you're absolutely right. Conception was amazing, especially for those of us who grew up with Noise Records. I want them back too. I just cant get into Kamelot, a little too cheesy. Conception was just right. And the guitar work is absolutely necessary.
The guitar work in this song is just rhythms and show-offy riffs. As if technical prowess could alone make a song powerful. Without the melody in Roy Khan's voice, and perhaps without Khan's voice itself, this song would not be music to my ears. Kamelot, to me, has shown an innate ability to make cheese beautiful. And not all of it is cheese anyway, not by a damn long shot. There is much meaning to be found in quite a few of their songs; over time I understand each a little more.
"Well um, you're wrong. He can't handle even the early Kamelot material live anymore." How about a video of Roy struggling with one such song to prove your point?
@reaponja It did. I agree, his range did drop. But maybe thats because he has strained his vocal chords during many concerts. What's for sure, newer albums of Kamelot are sang much lower. Compare Fourth Legacy with Poetry for the poisoned. He's getting old... Like Rob Halford, he still rocks but does not hit the hights anymore :(((
Ostby is such a great guitarist. Really, I want Conception back. It was much better than Kamelot, the guitar work was better and the lyrics didn't suck.
OMG man! Kamelot is the best don't say bullshit :D this is not bad but do you know what is the meaning of their lyrics, i mean Kamelot lyrics....i think you should sit down and put Epica and The Black Halo albums into your PC and listen to the whole story....Kamelot isn't prog metal and don't have to put these kinda guitar solos or riffs into their songs, it's better without this trust me ^^ ;)
Kamelot cannot come close to the quality of Conception's music. Tore Ostby's guitar work and songwriting surpass pretty much any other prog/power band out there (well, I suppose Fates Warning has some songwriting on the same level). Kamelot is not bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to Conception. In Your Multitude is probably the best prog metal album of all time.
oh my God.
Khan is the best singer EVER and I'm so glad conception are back now! if you haven't listened to their new stuff yet you're missing out on so much
Great vocals, great guitars...Miss the times of bands like this
Khan's voice is heavenly. If he comes out with a christian rock album I'd buy it!
I know I totally agree! A Christian cd would be so awesome if he does.
+E. Spatharius
SIGN ME UP FOR ONE!!!! LOLOLOLOL ~ I miss the sound of his voice!
on yes me too!!!
He is back
Roy Khan ❤❤❤❤
Roy is like wine, it gets better with age.. *o*
I hope unified conception again .. and make more masterpieces.
He's back
When I see Kamelot & Nightwish this coming friday... I will remember what this man did for music and for all the metalheads around the world.
They're back! :D
Killer song, killer band.
Holy crap this was made in 1993 i was 7 going on 8 years old then XD hehehe . He sound great then and even better now .
I wasn't even born, though I wish I were there to see/listen to Roy.
This song rules. Roy Khan is brilliant. Tore Ostby's playing and riffs are killer.
amaizing voice,just briliant.The best song.
The Master of all
Voice from Heaven.....
Its's awesome how separated the bass, guitar and bass is. Its power everywhere! ;)
me too! by that time only queen and guns and roses existed for me,, ahhh the ignorance of the youth
no, huh, he's an opera singer so HE CAN handle the early Kamelot material, if he wants. And he will ALWAYS be able to do it. BECAUSE HE IS ROY KHAN!!!
I agree with you, totally,he's the best and gorgeous,it's a killer combination:)Love Tore Otsby's amazing&unique guitar work! Both bands are GREAT!!!!
REUNION !!!
The real Kamelot sound
2019 and now they are back 😁
XD Roy's look in this reminds me of David Hayter when he was in Guyver 2. This is a great song.
Fantastic Progressive Metal band
Этот голос навсегда поселился в моей голове))
Я вас так понимаю ;)
There is no better vocalist then 1993-2003 Khan.
More like '93-'23+ Khan. He's just as good today as he was 30 years ago. Maybe better!
@@mousermind He is not even close he sings with closed throat now that is not real singing. He is too afraid to let his voice go.Even Karevik is better vocalist today.
I'd argue 1993-2007
@@markolumovic2750 kaverik is one of the best vocalists right now don't underestimate him.Just listen to seventh wonder.
This is so good. holy damn.
@MrSilentDoubleA Great example is on Nights of Arabia on The Expedition CD compared to One Cold Winter's Nights version. He belts it out on ERASE THE SINS IVE MMMAAADDDEEEE back then
Great!

one of the best voices i have ever heard.excellent live performance.maybe better than studio
My God... That man is my love?????? hahahahaha what change of look... I prefer his Kamelot's look, of course... And he seems so young...!!
He looks gorgeous both ways to me.
the best heavy metal
great!!
eeeer no, the Scorpions vocalist is old too but guys, did you hear his voice? So why you think Khan cannot sing so good as he did?
This is one of my fav songs ever... and live is even better than the studio one! That's cause the guitars are heavier and Roy sings godly.
just like Kamelot live, you would swear its playback the chorus its so perfect, only Khan \m/
Awesome!
@Theyzenski Khan basically stopped doing any kind of high notes after 2000, no?

Great fuckin band...
que guapo se ve roy
amazing 💙

I had no idea that was Roy Khan until I looked up Conception on Wikipedia. Didn't look or sound like him to me.
i read somewhere that nowdays roy smokes a bit and i'm sure it plays a major role in his voice.maybe if he could stop it it could be best for him and us.rather than that he still is the BEST!
OMG TORE ØSTBY ER FAEN MEG UTROLIG
damn, have it your way
I only know "march of mephisto" and I like it because Shagrath is in it, other than that it's a nice song, but I liked this singer better in Conception!
El Exelente Roy Khan
@TheJontslayer cant they both be awesome? lol, cuz they really are. i mean, ostby is great and all, but alot of that is that he worked with great vocalists like Roy Khan (as well as Jorn Lande, whos certainly no Khan, but hes certainly good), and i think they just compliment each other really well.
Khan has a unique sounding higher register.
he play in both Conception and Kamelot :)
@Windaros They dont have Ø's, so why the hell did you pick on that? 1993 Khan \m/
Eh. his higher register changed. I saw them live, he's still amazing, his voice is just a little deeper.
Roy Khan is in Kamelot now:P
@alucard0712 it's the best thing could happen to make them take a good path to go
It doesn't sound like Khan's had his opera training here? He's only 23 here it seems...hmm
What do people know?
Does Roy was using a WIG?? they seaid he uses wig for long hair and he didnt like long hair

I just cant get into Kamelot, a little too cheesy. Conception was just right. And the guitar work is absolutely necessary.
@TheJontslayer have you heard Ostby's new stuff? I think it's more the other way around. Ostby is nothing without Khan...
KHAN !!!!!!
ah, sure thing mate, just wondering if this is before or after the training.
The guitar work in this song is just rhythms and show-offy riffs. As if technical prowess could alone make a song powerful.
Without the melody in Roy Khan's voice, and perhaps without Khan's voice itself, this song would not be music to my ears.

@MrSilentDoubleA listen to expedition live album, year 2000.
@MrSilentDoubleA i think no, after 2001/2002 he stopped with those high notes. listen to the fourth legacy and night of arabia.
I have the CDs but didn't know a video was shot. Any more video footage available?
@sooner282002 Lmfao exactly my thoughts.
@WenGlen2 That awkward moment when that was released in 1999...
"Well um, you're wrong. He can't handle even the early Kamelot material live anymore."
How about a video of Roy struggling with one such song to prove your point?
This hoarse voice, he make it on purpose? I hear when he sang in Kamelot the voice was clean.
1993
@reaponja It did. I agree, his range did drop. But maybe thats because he has strained his vocal chords during many concerts. What's for sure, newer albums of Kamelot are sang much lower. Tore is God !
Khan had long hair?
A wig...
@WenGlen2 Hence why I said 2000.
LOL nice.
Ostby is such a great guitarist.
Really, I want Conception back. It was much better than Kamelot, the guitar work was better and the lyrics didn't suck.
The gitarist is past way today :( :( :( :( :( :( :(.hey have a new gitarist.

Roy Khan rocks but maybe they should add one more guitar for better sound
Roy have a real depression these days.. and its not possible for him to perform on stage.
Khan is God.
That's... just all there is to say about the matter.
you don't say
Kamelot cannot come close to the quality of Conception's music. Tore Ostby's guitar work and songwriting surpass pretty much any other prog/power band out there (well, I suppose Fates Warning has some songwriting on the same level).

Eh... their two totally different sounds.
It's purely aesthetic principle.
You have misunderstood my first post, nevermind you're right.
fuckin A
боже как охуенно
He's already lost a lot of his range compared to this video, but he's made up for it with much more feeling.
This was prime Khan today he sounds really bad compared to this.
Khan is nothing without Ostby. Sorry guys, I know I'm a hater, but this album and Flow destroy anything Kamelot has ever done.
