Andre passed away today. It’s a sad day in the fashion industry. He will be sorely missed.
Isaac sounds really hurt. I hope Andre hears what Isaac has said here and they can discuss whatever the issue may be. They are both such icons.
andre never understood that he was just a pet to those people. when you are someone that a group feels they are being charitable to, speaking the truth in disagreement is not an option. they will always call you ungrateful.
Yes. He was the tertiary person.
You can't be black and not know, he knew
@@jaymillymills I agree with you, but sometimes you can know a thing "in your head", but in your heart it hurts too much to admit it; even to yourself.
@@greenbyrd3665 we can agree on that
Always! They did him dirty!
Andy stop lying. You knew Isaac and Andre weren't friends anymore. That's why you ask the question.
😩😩😩😂😂😂😂
Exactly 😂😂
I hope they work it out, you could hear the hurt and defensiveness in his voice as he spoke.
Never knew Isaac Mizrahi was a shade master! Whew!
I was feeling the same way.Wow
@@periscope7731 So if I'm to understand you correctly. The way inwhich a "true friend" shows loyalty is to join together in vengeance so that pain and suffering is magnified to whomever your "friend " held evil intentions for?? Or, you too will Feel the ill affects of my wicked occult Satanic Powers in your life and you don't want that???Join me kinda think?? THE Blood OF JESUS DEMON PIG!!! I Rebuke You!!! And All WHO BELIEVE AS You do.
That is just the truth, not shade. Mizrahi was a media darling and then the House of Chanel (aka Karl aka Andre's "friend") dropped his company like a hot potato and then probably him.
I wanted to hear more of that conversation
So well said, Isaac.
Interesting how celebrities publicly talk to one another through other celebrities. 😂
Isaac makes a great assessment of people in fashion. Andre unfortunately didn't make branding deals that would give him stable income for his later years. Therefore he hung around too long and lost relevance with the modern fashion crowd -- those relationships tire and become all of the past. This of course has nothing to do with his fabulous legacy, he just wasn't afforded the opportunity to leave the party because he still needed to make a living.
Isaac said that Andre did that to himself. Andre was no risk taker unlike other people who made it big.
Isaac is pals with Anna. In reading between the lines, this interview is probably his way of sticking up for her. I gather that she is extremely private with a stiff upper lip, and would never participate in any infighting amongst her tribe members, for public consumption.
“I adore him.” The fashion world is so petty and ridiculous.
It doesn't sound like adoration to me. Guuuurl, Miss Mizrahi can be catty AF. Lol
Lol sounds like the art world
You can adore someone and be annoyed at them and disappointed. A lot of those business relationships are alliances more than deep friendships, alliances that could potentially be rekindled even years after they've fizzled. I think that's what Mr Mizrahi was saying in his own way.
But I do think he makes a good point about André Leon Talley's viewpoint. I've read his Chiffon Trenches book and he does bang on quite bitterly about being dumped by Karl Lagerfeld who he considered a personal friend. He doesn't have the same bitterness for Anna Wintour who after all was his boss for nearly 30 years.
@@periscope7731 Something that baffles me about the fashion world, at least the versions of it that get reported to me: creative people like fashion designers as well as others who work in that field tend to be more sensitive than the average person. And yet they can be absolutely brutal to each other! Which seems to me a weird contradiction...
❤💚💛💜💙Isaac. Such a kind spirit.
Isaac makes a great point to one of the messiest men on the planet Andy Cohen. Cohen does an amazing job of keeping up controversy. Yet I do agree with Isaac's assessment of Talley. Andre has done a great job of tearing down glass ceilings and entering into a fashion industry that has never fully accepted Black Americans, and especially someone with Andre's body structure. However Andre has never moved one foot to open doors for other Black Americans like himself. Andre is a icon and admire his contributions in the fashion industry. The hypocrisy of Talley is having the nerve to call out Wintatour on her behavior, but seemed to have no problem with it until he became a recipient of it. I hope the best for Andre and enjoyed his documentary "Gospel according to Andre". Yet I am not going to buy a book listening to Andre play the victim because Andre is no victim. Actually Andre was the "taskmaster" for the fashion industry's agenda regarding Black Americans, and that is the real Andre Leon Talley.
Andy Cohen has made a career of stirring the pot and then standing back to watch and record the meltdowns. If it weren’t for the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” he may be such a well-known figure.
Or just starting junk.
Facts
"However Andre has never moved one foot to open doors for other Black Americans like himself".
Funny that's how I feel about Oprah. With the exception of BFF Gayle King.
Thank you for the nitty gritty. The truth is sometimes ugly.In Talleys case it is. You're absolutely accurate.
The stories about Andre and his meaness and rudeness are legendary definitely a man who feels he should be much more respected and legendary than he is when in reality all he did was jump into others spotlight
I concur with your sentiment.
Stay warm and healthy.
Australia.
@@o_0malik where can I find information 2 support what you've stated? Very interested.
@@o_0malik You're making it up as you go along aren't you?
@@o_0malik it is in his book, you're correct.
@@o_0malik Yeah, even Anna said that Andre was the one who introduced her to Karl Lagerfeld because Andre and Karl were actually best friends. Anna even said Andre knew way more about fashion history than her and he had a better reputation in the industry so she is the one who latched into him then dumped him after she got a high position.
Isaac read the book.
Part of the problem alluded here if just slightly is that the people you work with and know in your industry are not your friends at the end of the day or even at the beginning of the day.
Isaac, however talented, mislead himself to think that a fashion editor, any fashion editor is a friend. Its a business.
Facts!
Exactly
Mariah answers these type of questions with ease.
Andre has a right to his feelings
WHATEVER

@S Solaris Fact
Excellent feedback from Isaac! I agree with him completely that ALT behavior. I love fashion but the industry can be a very mean place to be.
Andre made the same observations about Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour.......it's a circular firing squad in that business
Very interesting perspective!
I never heard him in this light before wow....
He was hurt
It’s sad how fashion word don’t appreciate friendship
The nature of the beast....Fashion that is.
There was quite a bit of acid in that rant
Wonder if either of them are in touch with John Galiano?
Nope. John G disregarded Andre as soon as he got back popular in fashion. The whole industry is short term relationships
Andres voice meant something to the fashion world. Vogue! I'm not sure what happened. We all have our own story. We move on in life, but friendships, with disagreements, well, you can't take away what was, and memories of great times with loved ones.
Andy got what he wanted
So true
in the words of Mariah......I don't know her.
Isaac needs more interviews about this.
Isaac: you should’ve paid your respects to him yesterday 😒
Wow. I never knew Andre did that to Issac. Ur now at peace Andre 🙏🏽
@@thelifeofaria other people in the fashion industry has said Andre’ was a opportunist. He used people “friending” them until he didn’t need them or they weren’t beneficial to him any longer. They all were like that thou🤷🏽♀️
That's a line of questioning that's sleazy, petty and unnecessary. It says more about Andy than it does about either the opinion of Isaac or what's going on at present with André.
Wonderful insight by Isaac conderning the nature of the mind of a fashion-oriented individual: namely being attracted to the brilliance of the moment, observing it, then moving on to the next brilliance. It is sad that individuals that once meant so much in a person's life get left behind.
I think it falls into the, "I remember you WHEN," category, as in before you became a force in the industry. Possibly the reality of ones roots is too heavy an emotional burden to carry into the present.
On the other hand, what I've seen from Talley's heart-to-hearts, he is perfectly candid about his roots so, t'is a puzzlement.
I guess some folks treasure their past acquaintances while others opt to leave them in the dust. Oh the complexities of the human mind.
Stereotypical fashion industry culture.
I know numerous "designers" that style a photo with whatever crap they find take a pic of it post it on Instagram and they get a bunch of likes from CLUELESS fashion wannabes......and NEVER SELL
Extreeeeeemly well said Isaac
Love you Isaac...
Expeditiously. I believe did not read Andre’s book because he is bit hurt for having been left behind. Abd this is a natural feeling. However, what Isaac forgets is that Andre had no one like him to look up to or to talk to.
Andy Cohen behavior is really disgusting and someday Mr. Cohen, you will be the headline. Get your life right sir.
Agreed
Playing pretend as if he doesn't know the tea. Which is why he has his boy on to play pretend. And no Isaac no one cares about the fashion that you produce now.
@@a.leehilliard4716You got that right. When he took his fashions to Target..it was a wrap.. By the way, I love Target.
whatever happened to issac mizzahi career?
I love both of them but I tend to side with Isaac. Andre was perfectly fine being the token and ONLY one in the high circles until they decided to go so far as literally throwing him on the streets. As a Black Man he’s always been an inspiration but he allowed himself to be used and now in his old age he still has to grovel and kiss their feet with nothing to show for it. I can see him being a viper tbh
💯💯💯
Sounds like patty is bitter… so sad. Unfortunately it’s a awesome book read by many , he is 🙏🏾missed. Unlike patty fashion… not even missed at target!!
Humans lived in perfection NAKED.
He's lying and he most def read the book that he so pressed
Love the Honestly 🌸He is very In his Fake World… & Isaak isn’t that Shallow
Sandra...?
Then again total rejection coming from Anna to him proves that hurting people hurt others and there u go.
Expertisely??? 😅
Stirring the pot
WOW‼️ Interesting getting different perspectives Andre learned how to do that from the best Anna Wintour Andy Warhol etc designers can be Very Arrogant and Dismissive
...'Yeah, it's called being S n u b b e d!' The Climb... Not always a good look!
Kathy sorta said the same thing about andy
Oh so Issac plays the tic for tat game? I can only look out or support you if I get the same in return. I am not knocking him because some associates are users. Issac should of expressed how he felt if they were close friends.
It's like the "cool kids" group 🙄 in school...going into the adult life and into the fashion industry. ALWAYS trying to "out- cool- each other" and being nasty sharks - attacking each other and biting off pieces of each other in the process. It is SAD really...and they may have money and a recognized name -
but NONE of them appear to be happy at all. What a way to waste your time being around people like this.
I believe him. From the documentary I saw Andre seemed very lonely and sad (right alongside being worldly and sophisticated). He had a lot of untherapized trauma from growing up in Jim Crow. I noticed right away how there was no mention of a lover. Not necessarily a current one, but someone -anyone- who was with him in the past. There was no one. I’m sure many someones tried to love him and he repeatedly pushed them away or never let them get close in the first place, thus his lamenting as to why he doesn’t have a lover in the documentary. Most people at his age have a lover because they cultivated something with someone many many many years ago. He did not cultivate that part of his life.
He mentioned that in his book. He was sexually assaulted by the men his neighborhood and that gave him a traumatizing view on intimacy and relationships
@@ondreiat6674 I have not read his book, but now I want to. Thx for making me aware of it. I was unaware of his childhood sexual abuse, so it all makes sense now. So many male children are abused and for the longest only gay men talked about it, now het men are, too. Sexual abuse trauma is one of the most crippling and stunting experiences that can happen to someone. I am so sorry that happened to him. It explains so much.😔
@@crystalchw Yes a lot of people are dealing with unhealed trauma. This trauma was linked to his weight gain also.
Reading his book was a true eye opener . Firstly, his encyclopedic knowledge of the history of fashion, from past to present, had me memorized of how intelligent this man was. Yes I listen to the book on Audible .. he was very candid but it was a true eyeopener of his journey.
how can these 2 people talk nasty about Andre when he died??? it doesn't seem fair
This interview was before he died. This interview was during the time Andre’s book came out.
And now that ALT is dead, they are besties, right
Back when The Fashion File, Style With Elsa Klensch and Fashion Television were my Saturday go to shows I would cringe when Andre Leon Tally would be interviewed. Such a phony flake if ever there was one. I am not surprised by Mizrahi's account.
could it be karma?? throughout the years?
Andre needed to not bite that hand that feeds him.
It stopped feeding him.
@@jaymillymills never fed him … only used him and kept him grasping at straws. RIH 👑
Andre was projecting. With his ginormous robe.
That man makes the ugliest designs ...and hes selling that trash on Qvc tearing those older womens purses up..I bougjt something from him and was never so dissappointed when I received it...and it went straight back....
I KNOOOOOOOW. it's like the art department exploded.
Wouldn't expect anything but this from Bloomberg supporters.
He can not speak on the experience of a black man! Shady 😐
I read the book. Andre shouldn't have written it. He comes across as deeply superficial and bitter. And no it's not just race
Andy you are one messy 🤔
Andre is a queen with a very high opinion of herself
He looks absolutely ridiculous , wrapping yourself in a bedspread and trying to call it fashion, just doesn't cut it
I hope he will send Anna flowers , and congratulate her on her new promotion at Conde Nast
ewww racist lies lies and more lies
I used a white coffee cup this morning. I guess I'm a Klan member in your eyes. My god, the racist everything trope is so tired.
Chile who cares?!
