Thanks for checking out dmod! I'm the developer and it really was just an effort to make an authentic gmod for android. It's just the game I wished I had on my phone when I was younger but I was stuck with like Tibers box. I've been working on a cool model importer update for custom weapons, any online downloaded map model and things like that to make it a little more moddable. Appreciate not just getting the game bashed in this video, ngl that's what I fully expected

I understand that mobile game developers use advertisements to help fund and pay the bills that come from developing a game, but the positioning of the advertisements (top left) is an awful choice as for someone with a moderately sized screen, the advertisements completely block the spawn menu, FPS counter and the button to close the spawn menu.
Bro the Gmod voxel game the community has been asking for already exists; Teardown, and it’s really good. That mobile voxel game was much more of a teardown clone than a Gmod one.
Apple is seen as more "Professional" only due to their strict control over their products and being selective on what is allowed on the platform, but Android is open source, you can make almost anything for it.
That's what Apple Brain does to you. iPhones are what all the children use, ergo all the shitty apps. And their quality control is not a thing anymore. Apple being more "professional" is the biggest lie Apple fooled everyone with.

These types of games are such a fever dream. I used to download dozens of these ripoff mobile things as a little kid, play it for about 20 minutes then never open the app again. I remember playing a few Portal ripoffs that ranged from "sorta okay attempt at remaking the game" to "broken unplayable mess".
I remember watching Elliot goes camping and seeing an Xbox achievement when one of the characters ran over a shed and I spent the next week looking for gmod on Xbox cause I was too dumb to figure out that Kitty edited it in lol.
i remember being really into ultimate sandbox. it was the only gmod clone i saw back then and i had stuck with it for a long time. it was fascinating seeing whole events there, i mean there were clan vs hackers wars, clan wars, the use and misuse of lag bombs and quads, there was a fairly dedicated pvp community and there was a number of glitches that players used as the "meta" for combat. the history in the game was surprisingly rich. it was a great time despite the hacker issue. then the game got picked up by another dev team and while it did breathe life into the game with new content, idk if it was just the players growing up or something but things felt lacking. while the new content and bug fixes were great, i remember it was being dropped bc of a framerate issue that showed up and that people couldn't easily build bases in the skybox bc of item collision being fixed. i haven't played since then so i doubt its alive much. i have dabbled into hypper tho and i do like the complexity it brings with the tools, i just don't know how to use em. playerbase is considerably more active, but idk. its missing that spirit that ultimate sandbox had with clans and whatnot.
here's how you can run gmod on android (if you are wondering for some reason) gmod runs natively on linux, and android is essentially just linux (but not quite) so, if you sorta replicate certain parts of a linux system that aren't in android by default (libc, etc) you could launch it and it would lag to hell probably add a mobile ui thing controller or get one of those MFi controllers to move and stuff and the game will "work" this can probably work with any linux native app or game too only issue is the architecture (gmod is x86_64, android is arm) but i know a workaround called binfmt
One gmod mobile game that is really good is gorebox, not really a rip off but definitely heavily inspired by gmod, the developer and the community are pretty cool too, you can even create your own maps.
He should also check out Simple Sandbox 2, which is basically its own identity now. I’d say it’s the best clone out of all in this video in terms of content and gameplay

Ok so these games are basically games that utilize similar technoologgies, etc; They may have some sort of technological PC component, under the hood, using the same nanotech. Dmod is a demake of gmod and its impressive how it captured the feeling of gmod,the control's are a bit scuffed but hey its on mobile,so not much space for mapping on it.
at 16:51, those guns and skins look similar to some found in Payday 2. They might have ripped off assets from that game, just to not get caught ripping assets

There as an actual Half-Life 2 android port which is identical to the steam version and runs on the source engine. My point is that this HL2 port has some mods that tries to recreate Gmod.
I think the best gmod "clone" for phones is Dmod. it's more like a fan game, and surprisingly polished. It also has a level editor which i think is really cool.
I actually remember Umod, as a kid I legit spent hundreds of hours on it on my old Lenovo tablet, it was genuinely an awesome game when it had a big community to rp and build stuff, I remember the jet plane physics were so good

One gmod mobile game that is really good is gorebox, not really a rip off but definitely heavily inspired by gmod, the developer and the community are pretty cool too, you can even create your own maps.
He should also check out Simple Sandbox 2, which is basically its own identity now. I’d say it’s the best clone out of all in this video in terms of content and gameplay
Or just straight up download actual gmod to your phone. There's a community port it works perfectly

16:23 This reminds me, I grew up on GMOD, completely unaware that it was a mod for Half Life 2. So when I first played Half Life 2 around 2019 or so, my first reaction was “Dude this is like Gmod Story Mode!” lmao.
There as an actual Half-Life 2 android port which is identical to the steam version and runs on the source engine. My point is that this HL2 port has some mods that tries to recreate Gmod.
I think the best gmod "clone" for phones is Dmod. it's more like a fan game, and surprisingly polished.
It also has a level editor which i think is really cool.
