*2012 SPLINTER WON My Video Glitched* AND Here is My Review of The New RISE TMNT Movie and Made sections talking about The NEW Casey JONES and Every Version of The KRAANG NOW Go check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/JDWWhk0GGeI/v-deo.html
Woo! I was so excited about the movie, and seeing Leo's character development in it made me so happy. And proud that he's the first Turtle in the Rise series to curse lmao
My favourite thing about Rise is the family dynamics. The brothers having nicknames for each other, the turtles calling Splinter dad instead of master or farther. And the family drama two, like the one episode where Donnie gets upset with Splinter, because he lied about wanting to hang out with them
Dude the episode where Donnie yelled at Splinter for just using his inventions caught me off guard with how emotional it got suddenly and I’ve never gone from laughing my ass off to on the verge of tears within 10 seconds like that
80's TmnT: Nostalgia 2003 TmnT: Action 2012 TmnT: Heart Rise: Graffiti Art 90’s Puppets: Experimental Bay Turtles: Autobots in a Half Shell Batman vs TmnT: A Precious Gift that no one asked for
I think overall TMNT 2012 is just the perfect blend of what the Turtles have been over the years. The series is comedic, emotional and sometimes dark. Thanks to it's pretty long run it was able to pick something from almost all of the series history, both in story lines, tone and characters. Doesn't mean it's the best the turtles have ever been but if someone would ask me what TMNT is all about, I would definitely recommend TMNT 2012 (especially speaking of shows/cartoons)
I think ppl would be more open to Rise if they viewed it just like “Spiderverse”. No one complained about Peter Parker’s character or gender-swapped Doc Ock - it was just cool! I love Rise’s twists, the Casey reveal, and even how Raphael was the leader. Rise’s existence doesn’t erase the other shows or their equally excellent quality! TMNT is just the best. 🐢👊
Exactly. Which shouldn’t be too hard considering how multiverse stories happen in almost every iteration. I mean, April changes jobs, age, hair and species in previous iterations. Why was race so hard to swallow?
Yeah, but Peter Parker being depressed and a "gender-swapped Doc Ock" (read as, Olivia Octavius) wasn't anything new by the time Spider-Verse came out. They were both based off of existing material that got relevant enough to be referenced in the movie, much like everything else that came with it. I like most of the changes in Rise, but some, like Baxter becoming a child media influencer, or the Purple Dragons becoming a trio of highschool hackers, were just too baffling to suspend my disbelief for. That's what my problem with Rise was character-wise, Black April and Girl Casey were fine.
Also I found it really funny that people refused to watch rise because Leo wasn’t in charge when in the original tmnt movies, Raph was the leader anyways
@@squash.1462 Not quite. While it is true that Turtle Power by Partners in Kryme (which plays in the 1990 movie) had the lyrics- “Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello make up the team with one other fellow, Raphael. He's the leader of the group, transformed from the norm by the nuclear goop.” -Raphael wasn’t actually the leader in the 1990 movie. It became a bit of a meme/misconception for a while (usually with there being a rivalry between him and Leonardo over who should be leader in some works) before it finally got a payoff in Rise with Raphael being the official leader instead of a temporary one.
@@whichcache2517 i like the joke at the end of rise in which splinter said blue was in charge now hell the movie felt like Leo's story into becoming a great new leader which rocked
I love tmnt 2012 because the elements are so balanced; the action, the humor, the family fluff, the angst, etc. Loved how they use 'enemies to friends' trope for most characters' interaction. The only thing I don't like is the shredder's motivation. All he thought about was revenge. He literally cared more about getting revenge than saving earth and his daughter. I was hoping he had more plausible motivation for hating Splinter, or at least turn him into a morally grey character. But no, he was pure evil for some reason
Honestly, I think they wanted to imply that he sort of went insane over the years. He wasn't pure evil, because at one point he was the underdog to his brother (Hamato Yoshi). Hamato would best him in every aspect of life, including love. He was jealous and heartbroken, and kind of manipulative, but when their master and Hamato's wife died he lost all the things that he was adamant on fighting for. He even thought Hamato was dead, the man who he had grown up alongside with as a brother. And even before all of that happened, he was told that he was only adopted because his father was the previous leader of The Foot clan, a clan notorious for evil back then. He thought he lost everything. But when he found Niwa (I hope I spelt that right.) he remembered how he promised Hamato's wife that he'd take care of them both. So, with a heavily burnt face and not much of another choice, he took Niwa and went to rebuild The Foot. Over the years he became obsessed with being better than Hamato was, so much so that he manipulated himself into believing that Karai was his biological daughter and Hamato was the one who killed her mother (Hamato's wife). He fell into a slight madness due to his obsessions, which drove him to strive for perfection and become the malevolent clan leader he became. The big thing, however, is that revenge wasn't his motive for moving to New York. Or starting up The Foot again. See, he had also become obsessed with keeping Niwa as his own. He put her through vigorous training all of her life and kept her in the dark about her true past, even changing her name so that she'd have no ties to Hamato. He fed her lies to ensure that she would be his. Except to him it was the truth, because he'd been telling himself those very lies for years. He lost bits and pieces of his mind before he even got to New York. And he only really went there because going was something Hamato's wife wanted to do. But when he learned that Hamato was also there, that he now had other kids, and that those kids were ruining his empire that had taken him over 15 years to build. . . He started to lose a lot more sanity a lot faster than before. But he only wanted to stop the turtles from destroying his empire first. He didn't even know Hamato was alive when he knew of the turtles. It was when he learned that bit of information that he wanted to kill them all.
Well he wasn’t totally pure pure evil ( but he did sounded kinda dumb/insane repeating the turtles splinter thing ) since he still cared about Karai despite using her, since as Super shredder he had to do a lot of injections before not hesitating against the Karai hologram Édit ; nvm the comment above me did it better
Shredder's motivation in 2012 was still probably the best one though. The other Shredders all wanted to conquer or destroy Earth just because they wanna. Especially 2003. Like the guy had no backstory at all and does evil things just because.
I think Shredder's motivation could have made more sense if they had focused on WHY he loved Tang Shen and what she brought out in him, which I feel like no version has ever explored.
Someone could argue that the turtles should all look the same because, well, they're ninjas. But the character design works here because the series has a much more different, comedic tone than the previous ones and I LOVE IT! It wasn't made for selling toys, so that's a bonus lol
Leo from Rise was meant to eventually become the leader because of how suited he was for it, but the show got canceled so the writers had to rush everything.
But that's the thing. In most iteration Leo became the 'leader' because he was the most responsible from the start. And in ROTTMNT Leo is not suited to be a leader. He is very selfish (tho is willing to apologize) self centered. He is willing to make the worst decisions to 'look' cool. In ROTTMNT he just outright puts his brothers in danger. I know the writers intended to make him a leader trough a lengthy progress, but why bother? Raph was perfectly fine as the 'leader' in this iteration. Leo had nothing which made him more suitable than Raph, except his penchant of making inspiring speeches. And the will of the writers.
@@rise.-mikey In most iterations Leo was the responsible kid from the start, and that is why he was chosen as a leader. In the comics/cartoons Leo was always focused, responsible, driven, and self sacrificing. Most of these abilities he had from childhood, were good, and bad at the same time. He was also an introvert in most iterations. ROTTMNT fundamentally changed the character. I would have been able to accept ROTTMNT Leo as Leo, if they didn't made him an attention seeking clown. I think Mutant Mayhem Leo is far better as far as an inexperienced Leo goes, who is not a leader yet.
@@rise.-mikey None of the Leo's were almost identical, but they were still recognizable. 12 Leo was geeky, and the other turtles always made fun of his very archaic sense of honor. 03 Leo was vey focused, and was constantly fighting with his feeling of inadequacy, and his past traumas (he even had PTSD) BAyverse Leo was very cautious, but at the same time they made him very controlling. Original Mirage TMNT Leo was honorable, driven, wise, and self scarificing to an extent that he had no life outside of taking care of his family(had eldest daughter syndrome). But at the same time he was relatively dark, and much more willing to do the dirty work. All of these Leonardo's were different, but the core personality traits were the same (his willingness to do the right thing, being responsible, his empathy, his focus etc). Other comic book/series Leo's were like different flavors of the same products. Like different flavored KitKats. ROTTMNT Leo instead of a different flavored KitKat was a bowl of ice cream. I think you didn't like Leo as a character. Now that they made an OC named Leonardo, you like him. But don't forget Leo have been existing since the 80's. And people loved him since his creation because he was reliable, responsible and honorable. A few years down the line, no one will remember ROTTMNT. Because it was not what the fans wanted. Why do you think they cancelled it? They realized it does not work.
2012 was my introductory series, but Rise's community truly is chill. Seems to be that way with a lot of fandoms with a more heavy leaning towards high quality animation (Duck Tales reboot, Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Owl House, & even Adventure Time come to mind)
100% agree. i originally watched 2012 as a kid and now im watching rise after i finished amphibia. it's been good so far and i can't wait to eventually get to the movie. 2012 makes me super nostalgic tho.
Rise's community hasn't been very chill, at least from what I've seen. I see most of them brutally tearing down the other TMNTs just to prove Rise is better, and that keeps me from really enjoying it.
Each interation represents the personality of a turtle imo. 1. 1987 is Leonardo (The first lead to an animated series) 2. 2003 is Raphael (Brooding and Darker series) 3. 2012 is Michelangelo (The heart and most humorous series) 4. Rise is Donatello (The Smartest and innovative changes to the turtles in a series)
What I love about ROTTMNT is that they are the most unique. I feel like they give off the most teenager vibes. I love how Mikey acts like the youngest brother while also being really friendly and open. I love how Raphael is the big, overprotective brother while and doesn’t have huge anger issues, but that was replaced with his isolation issues that gave him pure rage moments. He’s a big sweetheart, which I also greatly adore. I like Donny for his neutral tones and funny remarks while also being a tech whizz, but also greatly cares for his brothers in his own ways. And I absolutely love Leo for his funny actions and lack of maturity, since they are teenagers after all. They weren’t raised by a completely serious father, which could explain why they are so immature, but I really feel like it adds to the fact that they are still children and don’t need to grow up so fast to compare to serious adults. And like in all the movies, their are many alternative universes/dimensions of the tmnt’s. So I feel like it it’s cool that we stepped out of the lines of seriousness and shows that not all the dimensions are gonna be similar. Although, their storyline is a bit whacky since the series got cut short, but I really feel like the show had a lot of potential. And I love how they made April. She’s a confident teenager that’s not afraid to stand up and fight. Having a change of pace kinda feels good.
I agree, i feel like the only way the older series could think of passing them off as teenagers was if they made them eat a lot of pizza. They could all be 30 and still have the same personalities they did. Rise had better concepts for animated kids and also the dynamics between every character was more unique. The adventures were more fun while in older episodes i could tell you the plot before finishing half the episode.
As a massive long time TMNT fan, I gotta say 2003 is my favorite. It contains everything I love from the turtles. The only downside would be the fact that Shredder was not a human.
@@Rachebart currently rewatching the 2003 tmnt and on the middle of season 2. I can confirm, so far, they made Shredder a utrom (alien species of the krang and the guardians).
I remember I had surgery on my eyes as a kid so I couldn’t open my eyes for a week and all I remember is just listening to Tmnt 2012 and I knew what was happening because I’ve seen it so much. I’m 14 now and that happened when I was 7 or 8 and I still watch the show,
I'll admit that I was dismissive towards the Rise TMNT bc of my bias towards the 2012 version. But seeing how Rise was gaining popularity I started to think "if it's being so well liked it can't be that bad" so I tried it out and didn't like it bc I kept comparing it to the 2012 version. I started Rise again a couple months later and this time viewed the show as ya know, it's OWN show, and after stopping myself from trying to look for the 2012 version in the new series was I able to enjoy and now LOVE Rise
i love how mickey in Rise has the knee pads with the faces on them omg i love it i was never into tmnt as a kid (not the age or gender demographic lol) but omg i want to watch every version of it it seems so cool holy shit. it was alsways one of those things where i wanted to watch it so cool and wanted to watch it bit couldn’t becuase gender, age, and some other things (🥲) anyway, brb gonna go watch it
That was how i sorta felt when i was obsessed with the 2003 version cause i grew up with it.. But i wasn't hating it SOO MUCH, just after 2 days i loved it .
The issue was 100% that the series debuted way too close to the finale of the previous incarnation. I do not blame ppl for being unable to separate their love for the previous versions when viewing the new one. It was too soon
2012 TMNT will always be my fave, A big reason for that being because I grew up with it and it was the first version I watched. But even when comparing it with the other series, the plot, characters, animation style, and just everything seems perfect.
Definitely the 2012 series. Good character development and the way the pay homage to previous incarnations was perfect! I'd also like to point out that 2012's crossover with the other versions of the turtles was better.
I love 2003 versions of the turtles but the 2012 Turtles are badasses awesome LOL and my favourite character is is Raphael and Leo because they are badass and awesome.
I love 2012 the most too, but my only problem is they kill splinter so many times that when he actually dies i did not care Like he would just not fuck off. And even when he did die they found ways to bring him back
@@conscientiam_sui7385 yeah but for a couple episodes they made it seem like he died in the invasion only to find out that he just became an actual rat with his spirit disconnected to his body for some reason
@@kaloyanpetrov7863 you bet it is hahaaaa, I love him. I had never seen a comic relief character had a character arc about accepting that he is a comic relief. So cool.
@@pabloiriqui6128 Yes indeed but still even as a comic relief character he is actually a formidable foe and big part of the team. And he is the sweetest father ever. Bro Wakfu series are so underrated.
@@TiaraStarbrighter I grew up with the 80s cartoon, so that was my nostalgia...but we always have to remember that each new version of the show isn’t for us, it’s for the 8-10 year olds at that moment in time, who were too young to remember each previous version. It’ll always be a new kids show for new kids. I’m not entirely sure why Rise “failed”, but it wasn’t due to older fans rejecting it. TMNT cartoons live or die by the kids who are watching it.
I think my favorite is 2012 just because of the witty and charming dialogue and quips. It did get repetitive over time with their constant sass, but they really felt like teenagers and it had a lot of LOL moments for me.
I, on the other hand, would like: 83- Leonardo (he is the leader. And it is right to present the first) 03- Michelangelo (he is the wittiest. But at the right point) 12- Donatello (different from the others I find that this one has more "personality") 18- Raphael (I will say, of all the turtle I like the least. Too bad that many adore him because of his fight against anger. he is also the boss, another excuse to get involved and not always just be the hothead of the team)
Rise of the TMNT is incredible. The steaming wars have produced a lot of very half-assed, shitty reboots of beloved franchises, but I gotta say Rise of the TMNT is not one of them. It’s great to see the writers put some real love and thought behind it, with really high quality animation, and I think most of the changes they made to the series are welcome. Been watching 2012 with my kids as well. Also not bad, but I’m enjoying Rise with them a lot more.
TURTLE POWEEERR! 2003 will always be my all time true TMNT to me, so faithful to the original comics, pushed the boundaries for what was accepted on kids TV back in the day and treated it's audience with respect. Such raw consistency ❤
I hope rottmnt gets continued. Every generation needs a new tmnt, my mom grew up with the 1983 and my aunt grew up with the 2003 version and I grew up with the 2012. I really hope my little cousins can grow up with rise.
Unfortunately from what I’ve heard it’s been cancelled, BUT their is a Netflix movie coming soon that I hope serves as a finale to this Turtles series before moving on to the next one.
Turtle Power. I really like Raph 2012 because he's anger stems from him being more sensitive than most, I thought. You could see this with his love for various animals he cared for. Seem like a kid just trying overcompensate and having a hard time getting in touch with his emotions. Which I could relate from.
MrLittleSam i litterally get angry like 90% of the time because of sensitivity and it shows how relatible and realistic the 2012 tmnt show is. God damn i miss the 2012 tmnt show😔 BOOYAKASHA!
2012 is 100% my fav though I get why some people may disagree. I just loved the character depth and the thoroughly good character growth and sincere back story. Rise as a close second though. I started by watching the movie (bad idea) and I stopped with in the first 5 mins bc I didn’t like the concept of them having powers and their highly changed personalities. BUT, after pushing myself to watch the entire thing, it was AMAZING! The character growth is phenomenal, though 2012 still takes the win for me personally:)
As someone who worked as an animator on the 2012 version of the show and a Leo stan, respect. I love every single series as well with the exception of Rise and that's cause I haven't seen it yet. This has given me a lot to look forward to and I will definitely watch it now.
While I do think the 2012 version is the best one. I personally prefer the 2003 series mainly because I’m just more of a fan of that art style, I liked its side characters like Stockman(which seriously how the hell did they get away with what they did to him), Karai, Casey, and April. I agree that the last 2 seasons aren’t great but they had their moments.
@@cgm7454 not wrong they’re well developed characters although the only ones you mentioned that were in both the 2003 and 2012 series were Bishop, Usagai(the ronin bunny), and maybe the triceriton gladiator. I was just referring to main stays of the series that pretty much every adaptation has and every adaptation will have going forward
You literally just did exactly what he spoke about in the beginning of the video... just clinging to nostalgia because you don’t want your mind to change. lol. You said you DO think 2012 is the best one... but, you prefer 2003. lol. That’s funny.
@@nonsagashus_The_Gamecat I know 2003 is my favorite series but I do agree 2012 is better. Like I think Heath Ledger is the best Joker portrayal we’ve had but my personal favorite is Mark Hamill.
I didn’t like the Rise designs at first. But just from a character design standpoint, they’re amazing, they all have drastically different builds that reflect their personalities and allow for unique silhouettes, they use shape language well, they aren’t over designed or under designed, and for the most part, they keep the essence of their original counterparts
@@devont1576 yeah, i get it, but at the same time it’s so unfair to the show and it’s entire crew. I wish people wouldn’t act like that towards a reboot just for being different
@@sketchs_art_corner I dont care for a reboot being different animation wise. If I dont like the look of it then I just dont like the look of it. Rise is funny but I just dont enjoy looking at those turtles. A creator should also be prepared that when changing characters like that that you will be shitted on. Its just how things are. People take what they consider to be precious very seriously. Sucks but I can't fault people after Teen Titans Go pretty much created this mentality. I say give any show a chance to see how the writing goes. Now if the writing is crap, animation is a drastic change, and the characters are off then yeah shit on it completely.
My favorite is definitely the 2012 series, but 2003 is a close second. I loved how the 2012 series combined the dark elements from the 2003 series (and comics, but since I never read those I don't feel comfortable using it as comparison), and the humor from the 1987 series. And I loved how the turtles behaved like actual teenagers! That bothered me when rewatching the 2003 series, they rarely felt like teens to me. As for favorite character, it differs per series. 1987's favorite is Raphael, because I love meta humor and he broke the 4th wall the most often. 2003 and 2012 favorites are Leonardo, I don't know why, all I know is that I crushed on both of them. And my favorite in Rise is Donatello, because as an autistic person I just relate to him the most.
My favorite running gag in Rise was Donnie's Drill; In I think the second episode, the drill is introduced and carried gear for the turtles, but Donnie said it was just to transport the gear as it was in beta. This drill appears again multiple times throughout the show, and Donnie kept saying it was in Beta when he was asked if it was finished.
2012 was my fav even though I grew up with 2003. I always loved the fact 2012 took real japanese culture and ninjutsu moves, weapons and training methods in the show. It really felt like Splinter came from Japan to New York and shared his culture with the turtles but are still New Yorker teenagers.
@@versoturner5777 People don't sleep on 2012 or RISE, actually most fans grew up with either the 1987, or the 1990 or the 2012 turtles... It's the 2007 and the 2003 turtles that people slept or sleep on because the TMNT audience was low in the 2000s, despite some fans growing up with those instead (me included). The 2000s were kind of the golden age of cartoons, so the turtles ended up losing space to those cartoons, but picked up the pace again in the 2010s.
That's one of the main reasons I love 2012 so much. It really is what made younger me interested in Japanese culture, specifically Japanese weaponry and it feels really well represented. Never once can I recall them ever treating it like a joke, they always took great care to show that what they trained as ninjas was never to be disrespected
I grew up with 2012 TMNT, but that doesnt mean i hate the others, ROTTMNT is damn amazing with the animation and fight scenes and i really enjoyed the crossover episodes with the 1987 and the 2012 TMNT, these were really fun to watch and i really injoyed it
The sole reason Rise wasn't as loved is because people were either too old to get the appeal or were just too nostalgic, or too young to even understand the beauty of TMNT in general. I am kind of in between of those two so I gave it a shot. Although it was a very different experience, it still felt like watching TMNT. As the show progressed, it just got better and better, and the finale, although rushed, was more than satisfying and I was hyped like hell when I first saw the trailer for the movie.
I didn't grow up with TMNT so when the internet promised me autism rep (Donnie obv) I was old enough to enjoy the show but also had no nostalgia glasses
@@bubjohnson7441 that's a juvenile joke and not funny to most. Yes it's a kids show aimed at kids, but those kids grew up and so though you direct the show towards the kids in a new age, you still have to bring the older in too. There's words and phrases and wording that's new to the 80s generation, and humour has changed as well.
@@Anxiousbug that's what had me watch clips of the rise turtles, It was OK, though I tried an episode and couldn't finish it. The jokes and that fat lazy washed-out rat done it in for me.
Rise is such a fresh take on this franchise to me and it is a damned shame that old heads can't just let some things go and embrace change, especially when it's as well made as Rise is.
It was too much change and too soon. It came out the year after the 2012 series that people really liked. If it had a few years between, it would have done better.
@@candycover sure buddy, this is why we can't have nice things man. I legit was talking about embracing change, you are the people I'm talking about man plain and simple. This is why Disney and all these corporations rehash and reuse properties for purely the nostalgia and that will always be way way worse than anything new
For someone born in 2003 and watched both 2003 and 2012 TMNT. I can't lie that I can also prefer the shows that are memorable to me. I was like that with Teen Titans go (when I was a pre-teen/child) and didn't like it because of how they canceled the original show on a cliffhanger. But now that im older and more mature, I accepted that the new reboots could be good or even better than the show I grew up with. I haven't watched Rise but im planning to with an open mind since the fight scenes are so smooth like butter.
I grew up with the 2012 TMNT and love it from the bottom of my heart, but I also enjoyed ROTTMNT, it truly brings a new perspective to the traditional story. April's character was so much more confident and well thought, the family dynamics between the turtles and their father are wholesome, and there is a lot more humor sided with an unique artstyle & character design.
2012 one is the first series I watched at the time when I was *_6_* years old. It impacted me so much. When I revisited the show this year (I'm now 15), it literally makes me cry especially the final episodes of Mutant Apocalypse. I don't know how to describe it but I got so attached to it that I kind of absorbed each one of the turtles' personalities. It is so memorable I remembered all of the turtles' traits, personalities, obsessions etc. The lessons of life the episodes teaches really inspires me to care about relationships with our families
2012 is the best IMO because it’s the most emotional, intriguing, hardcore, heartwarming cartoon of its decade. The expressions and reactions are more lifelike and dramatic, the action sequences are perfect and smooth, the multiple foes they meet bring them more of a challenge. The moments where they lose or fail have a more drastic impact on the story, which makes it so much more satisfying when you see them triumph over their losses. The development of all the characters, good and bad, is extremely engaging because it makes you think about what is next in-store. The best thing about this adaptation is that it is still original but also blends the material from the past in the story. Every time that happens it feels like a love letter to the series that came before it. TMNT 2012 is a joy to watch and it was a wild ride for me growing up. I am glad it is the winner. Booyakasha and Cowabunga dudes. 💚
I'd have to agree and disagree. I agree one end because, yea I really did enjoy the show as kid, heck I think it did some things better than TMNT 2003, for instance shredder. Now look, the reason why I feel 2012 shredder is better than 2003's version isn't because he's oroku saki. But because of his backstory which was excellent by the way. And 2012 splinter also is the best one by far. And this show had the most emotional moments. But at the same time 2003 had the best depiction of Leonardo in terms of character, and the best designs for the TMNT, Shredder, Hun and casey, casey from 2003 was also the most likeable. Because in 2012 Casey is just this skinny kid picking a fight with people, which I felt was kind of a spit on his name. Casey in 2003 is muscular (as he should be) was the most likeable and was always there to help. 2003 also had the better intro, heck WAY better than 2012's version. It also had the best version of Raphael, because he liked to fight, tried to be there for his brothers when they needed him, and learned from his mistakes, even trying to lead people like casey down to the right path so they don't make the Sams mistakes he did. And had the best voice actor for raph. But 2012 had the more realistic animation and was the most true to how siblings, and even how teenagers are in general. Overall I think its a tie between these to awesome shows. Of course though people are allowed to have their own opinions on which show they like better. So if your saying 2012 is the best I can't blame you, its a badass cartoon show, and is definitely a lot better than fastforward and back to the sewers.
@@chrisgoris3794 You made very excellent points that I can’t argue with. 2003 was definitely one of the best especially for Casey. I respect the reason you’re more in favor of it since I also saw the series as a kid. 🙂
@Ty the Animan Actually I'm favored towards both of them. I like 2003, but I also like 2012. There both my favorite TMNT cartoons. And they both win in some aspects.
I loved the 2003 version. It has crazy amounts of action and the character’s personalities were dark and brutish. Hell Raph was ready to fight in the thumbnail 😂 now the Nickelodeon one is also badass as well.
@Jj I personally enjoyed the action, but even more so the great story arcs, and the fact that at many points it got realistically dark instead of things being just magiced away. I didn't watch Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers though, and can say nothing about it. But the first 5 seasons out class all the other ones in story.
@Jj the first five seasons are extremely good. It does a better job with interconnecting stories then any other TMNT cartoon series. There is a feel to it with their action has consequences like City in a War arc. The pacing is much better in all five seasons.
*2012 SPLINTER WON my VIDEO Glitched* Didnt catch it in time & it cut the 15 seconds I said it REPOSTING AND REPINNIN SINCE PEOPLE DONT SEE THE PINNED COMMENT APPARENTLY lol But *2012 Splinter* took The W for his Category for all the reasons I mentioned in this. And I wonder why Did Ralph never become the leader he is more then cable Mikey is too Silly Donny is smart but that’s all he has going for him if Leo died would splitter be the master.
Turtle Power! Honestly I love the 2003 series. I mean I was a baby when it was coming out and really little when it was ending, but I always had fond memories of it even when I barely remembered it and I keep coming back to rewatch it. the reason I love it is because it just encompasses all the thing I tend to like in a show, narrative, some jokes(maybe not the best but I liked them), characters and so on. Even when I was really little I've always loved narrative stories and stories that tingle the imagination and hit your emotions. I personally liked the last 2 seasons just cause they were something different. They weren't that great overall and the art style displeased me even as a kid but I liked them. 2012 I didn't like at first cause it wasn't 2003 and I grumbled when I watched the 1st episode but by the second I was pouting while singing the theme song and I grew to like it ALOT. Mickey is also one of my favorite characters and I liked how they handles him and kept the angle from the 2003 version that he is a really good fighter and has the potential to outmatch his brothers. I didn't really see much of the original other than clips and the cross overs but I liked them too but not as much. And as for Rise...........I'm still working up the nerve to watch it. I started watching the 1st episode and was like "HOLY COW THE FIGHTING IS SO GOOOOOOODDDDD!" and then April showed up and the comedy happened and I shut it off. Don't get me wrong when I was younger and even now I love humor driven shows or shows with a lot of it too. But Rise had, from what I was starting to see, the kind of humor I never liked. The over the top humor that felt like they were trying too hard to be zainy and wacky, which can work for me but not when it's so in your face and so often from everyone. It's just a type of humor I've been seeing more often and it just turns me off, but I think that is also because of Teen Titans Go for me which started the souring of my taste for that humor even more and remakes of properties. Also it just felt to me they were all just different versions of Mickey but that was just my first impression. I mean I'm still gonna give it a try of course for the fight scenes and such since I really like that kind of thing in shows too, unique uses of powers and weapons. Honestly though from what I have seen it's more overhyped cause of the action than anything else, not to say it has nothing good but.......I mean it just doesn't seem all that rounded and like it has parts competing with itself. But overall 2003 holds the #1 spot to me even despite the last 2 seasons and 2012 is a very close second for being a little bit of everything done well. Also I liked the 2007 movie, it's still one I just like to watch, not necessarily cause it's good per se but it just has moments that I really like still and has ideas I've always liked to have seen more of. It's just enjoyable to me
After reading some of the recent comments, it's been made apparent it just might be a generation thing. If they were to replay the entire 2003 series on TV from start to finish I'd wager all the children who grew up on the 2012-2018 version would have a difference of opinion. It was just that good: In action, moral, comedy, suspence etc.. birthed the most fearsome shredder to date.
You know what I really love about 2012 Splinter? Is the only one who actually acts like a ninja; all Splinters are wise old men, but 2012's is the only one who used techniques like those of a ninja, using his surrounding to his advantage, and wasn't over "cheating" if meant the greater good.
The 2012 is the best, for: 1. Each turtle has a unique look, making them easily recognizable even without their headbands. Shredder’s design is far superior-his giant claws and the absence of a sword make him much more intimidating. In his super form, Shredder’s ability to merge with his armor and create blades is far cooler than just getting bigger armor. The animation is excellent. 2. Tiger Claw is a fantastic addition and should be included in every version. 3. Splinter’s backstory, where he mutates from a man into a rat, makes more sense than the idea of a rat learning martial arts by watching his master. 4. The Krang being a race rather than a single character makes them stronger and more interesting as a villainous force.
Still can't believe some people call 2012 show CGI and animation lazy and cheap. I think it was showrunners smart decision to start off slow and get better in quality with each season, but honestly season 1 CGI is still good nowadays. It's the best quality in the entirety of CGI shows Nickelodeon has spawned in late 00's- early 10's(although Penguins of Madagascar show still looks stylish)
as someone who watched 2012 as a kid but is scared to revisit because of embarrassment, this video is what i needed to finally go back without the rose tinted glasses. im proud of "my" tmnt for just making it to the top in your review :)
Honestly: Original: Watched it as a kid and looved a loot, but the show didn't finish when it stopped airing, so I am nostalgic, but not attached. 2003: Reignited my love for the turtles and glued me to the tv, even rewatched it a few times. 2012: The best show in my mind. As a full story, it's a masterpiece, and it is the most fulfilling turtles experience. 2018: Honestly..... This show stole my heart.... in my heart and soul so far this is my favorite, I just cant deny how fun and loving it is. Never have I ever went back on a show just to watch a piece of animation, and this show made me do it multiple times.
I would really like future versions to go to something like Rise, it's so refreshing and unique. The fact that each turtle is of a different species opens up a thousand possibilities in terms of designs. Draxum deserves to return to the franchise either as the cause of the mutation since Krang/Utroms are so overused, as an overlord yokai/mutant or whatever they want to do. His cause was similar to that of Prince Nuada in Hellboy and was like an updated and better made version of Titanus from 1987. Big Mama too, a crime lord spider woman is something very unique, there aren't many notable female antagonists in the franchise other than Karai, it would be nice to have more variety. Minor villains have a lot of potential like Hun or Tigerclaw in 2012, from Foot Brute and Leutenient, to mutants with themed abilities and unique abilities, like Stinkbomb, Hypno, Sloppy Joseph, etc. Ghostbear definitely fits in with any other episode that wants to show Raph's fanaticism for wrestling, it would be a dream to see him face a new version of Triple Threat. It would be great if they take note and release a movie inspired by anime, the energy and speed of the fights suits them well.
And even when they do use the Kraang they feel so Unique and awesome This Kraang is like no other Kraang, He’s powerful and throws the Turtles around like A bunch of Action figures, They even changed the origin, Making them an Magical, ancient alien race of conquerors trapped in an alternate dimension by 4 Ninja That In the future come back and take over the world, rather than a Bunch of Space aliens
@@dominothealphaandomega5512 And how they fight is way more menacing in this version. Yeah, 2012’s brainwashing was cool but these guys do so much damage even when they’re not suited up.
The original deserves all the credit for making turtles into the phenomenon it became. It went from a cult indie comic to an overnight worldwide sensation. It was like the beatles or Star Wars. The media called it Turtlemania. The entire look, character design, music and intro are crazy iconic and every reimaging is influenced by it. That does not mean its the best show (it's probably the worst), however it did have the best April and I will die on this hill!
I personally really like the designs in Rise, I've never actually watched it so I don't know the characters but the designs and animation look badass. I personally grew up with 2012, so that is indeed my favorite but I've never seen the other series so I can't exactly judge.
@ I think he's referring to the fact that Raph and Mikey have black voice actors, and the fact that the turtles act more chaotic and recklessly. I'm not agreeing with his point, that's just what I think he's trying to say, but I could be completely wrong. Edit: before anybody says my comment is offensive to black people, I'm also black.
The wholesomeness and charm of the original animated tv series The art style and darker tone of the 2003 version The balance of comedy and drama of the 2012 tv series as well as the fight coreography The animation of the newest version If the next reboot could have all of these, depression would finally have a cure.
I don't agree with the art style since it's outdated and would only have nostalgic value. I really think 2012 hit a lot of good marks without CGI animation, 2018 version has potential with art style though.
Favourite turtle: toss up between Leo and Ralph Favourite series: 2012 Most Iconic: 1987 Best art direction: 2003 Best fight-scenes and animation: Rise

one element that was sort of mentioned but deserves more praise with 2012: THE CAST. good GOD they're a perfect mix of actors who's voices fit their characters perfectly. Donatello is voiced by Rob Paulsen, of Animaniacs fame, where he voiced Yakko. Also voiced Carl Wheezer in Jimmy Neutron. Michaelangelo is Greg Cipes, the perfect voice for Mikey and Beast Boy. Leo's Seth Green is perfect with the dramatic and comedic/nerdy stuff. Raph as Sean Astin, Samwise fuckin Gangee from Lord of the Rings, ironic and perfect for him to play a strong, tough character
@@thatpoorlonelyguywhonobody2143 yea but it had the comedy at balanced it out but still had more action. Then rise had more comedy over action but still a good balance
I love TMNT, 2012 had really caught my heart, it was a really good show, there isn't any good show without having its improvements. I could tell you put your all into this video and I have 100% respect. You put aside the nostalgia and made it 100% fair.
TMNT is one of those series that has changed with every generation. I grew up with the original, but honestly, I love them all for different reasons. The original is nostalgic and funny, 2k3 has great action. 2k12 has great characters and plot and 2k18 had some of the most amazing fight scenes I've ever seen. Also it wasn't afraid to try new things. Also, most might know this, but the IDW comics are freaking amazing as well.
Hey JaxBlade, thank you for resparking my love/interest with the franchise. I grew up with the original cartoon and movies. I'm now watching the 2012 TMNT and rise of the TMNT shows with my 10 year old daughter. Thank you Jax :)
The 2012 Nickelodeon series was my favorite. I'm not saying it's the best and that its better than the others since everyone is entitled to their opinion. All I'm saying is that I liked that series.
It was a perfect amalgamation of everything TMNT and was my full -indoctrination- introduction into the fandom. It serves a special place in my heart. -Though I feel like it should've ended after season 4. 5 just felt directionless.
@@Dalton_Boardman2000 that’s exactly what I think with the way it holds comic book aesthetics with primary 3D animation and some subtle 2D backgrounds. Since tmnt originated as a drama, it’s easy to see why many people see the 2003 series as the best show because it really is the best pure drama tmnt show. In short, 2003 is the best pure drama tmnt show, 1987/Rise best comedic tmnt show, 2012 best overall show.
Being born in 2001, I spent my very early years growing up with the 2003 series and I loved the first two 90’s movies, and I was so excited when Nickelodeon was bringing a new show back in 2012 and I’m so happy it delivered. It still holds up today and it’s safe to say it’s been my favorite one for years
Bit of the same for me except I was born in 2000 and watch the 3 common kids channels Disney Nick and Cartoon Network (back when in it brim how I miss those glory days) and my first TMNT being 2012
MAN! 2003 got DARK! I still remember Baxter's jaw falling off and decomposing. And that dimensional tournament....yeah it good. I think if someone thinks the other versions are better, they just haven't seen this version fully.
TMNT 2012 was a life changer for me, it just was and still is the base of my childhood,I remember every single thing that happened and it's just a huge part of me,tho I love 2003 a lot because I remember having a great time with it,but I only remember that,I didn't finish rise because I was watching for the first time when It Aired but I was wierded out by the changes, then I stopped watching tv so I because of that I didn't finish the series,I can't say anything about 1993 one cuz I only watched parts and highlights on yt,
I honestly love how the Rise turtles are different species cause it adds so many more possibilities for so many things and I hope they do more like that in future iterations.
I didnt like rise of the turtles because the show wasn't exciting as all the rest and Ralph ain't post to be leader leo is and splinter look more like a mole then a rat
@@fireandiceproductionz7093 Tbh I disagree on that, maybe its bc it's a comfort show but I just think it gives a whole "newer" look on the characters and it kinda allows change and a more modern version and I also like the style but I think saying it's the worst is a little hard, everytime they made new shows something changed and I think it's good but just my take except I hate the rise splinter he was done horribly
2012 had so much heart, action, angst, and personality put into it. It wasn’t afraid to add wild things into their episodes, and it was such a blast to watch the brothers grow. 2012 will always be my number one

I loved 2012. Not because i watched it when i was younger, but for the amazing story it had and the lovable dynamic between each character. But i did start to lose interest in it after the space episodes but still loved it. I did see a few episodes of 2003 and i want to watch more but idk where to watch it. It looks and sounds amazing
Honestly 2012 is the one I grew up with and I have watched almost every Movie/Series and I will say that 2012 is the best in my eyes. The turtles all had the most diverse personalities among each other. But I will say that April was better in the other movies and series…
I really miss the 2012 TMNT But I only watched season one sadly, I like Rottmnt too The only thing is the Movie of Rottmnt Leo Triggers me for some reason Just the movie
As an animation fan, I absolutely loved Rise. I loved its use of motion blur, squash and stretch, and smear frames. Absolutely beautiful fight scenes. I liked the designs, despite the fact when I watched at least a little of each of the other shows. While 2003 is my favorite personal favorite, some of the voice lines were kinda odd, like Hun's, "Master, you're signal is breaking up!" Fast Forward works better as it's own thing in my opinion. I liked it, but it definitely was not the best. Didn't really like Back to the Sewers. It felt a little rushed. Also really didn't like the eyes. 2012 was the first series I'd actually seen and it's what got me into TMNT. I absolutely loved the story. Still upset that Mutagen Man was never cured though. I don't know if it's just me, but there was a bit too much of romantic tension between Karai and Leo, since technically they're siblings. Even if they didn't know it when they first met. I watched a few episodes of 1987 turtles, and I liked the comedy but I haven't actually watched the show in it's entirety so I can't really judge it too much.
1987: I remember watching this series as a kid, but I never had a connection with it. I think I watched the TMNT I & II films more than the cartoon. 2003: This is my favorite series. The series has flaws, especially when the turtles go to the future, but I don't care. It's awesome. 2012: This series is great. You can feel the love. Rise: Do you get those "I wish I was ten years younger so I can enjoy this" feeling.
Rise is very enjoyable no matter your age! Especially if you appreciate good animation! The series is a lot less serious than the other one, it's more of a family friendly thing you would watch The movie is more serious tho! Not telling your opinion is wrong you can, not like it of course but everyone can enjoy the show :D
Honestly, Every TMNT is very dear to my heart. I like to think of each version as their own alternate dimension. Each of them have their own kind of charm and flavor, including their ups and downs. Honestly it would pretty sick if we got a Turtles Forever 2 or a remake of that movie, only this time its with all the versions of them fighting their army of villians, each baddie coming from a different universe. It would be so sick! I especially want 2003 Raph to chat with 2012 Raph, and Rize Raph would be like the big guy which the other Raphs would think its pretty sick! The Donnies would be doing their own Tech wiz stuff, Rize Donnies snark would be a fun thing to see in this situation. The Mikeys would literally be vibing with each other, and heck maybe pull a sick combos with each others nunchucks. And we could even have a nice moment with the Leos talking about their teams and leadership styles. But hey thats just my inner fan speaking! 😅😂
For me 87 is what hooked me as a kid, 03 reminded me why I was still a fan, 12 was like a love letter from everything from the comics, toys, movies cartoons ect., Rise was special cause it got my kid hooked and I get to go down memory lane with her.
i feel like ROTTMNT should be continued into season 3. it has an active fan base that's growing quickly and it has lighthearted moments and representation that make it a comfort show for a lot of people. and after watching both seasons and the movies, the story gets dark in a lot of ways like 2003 does. it has the legitimate threat of death and loss and the importance of family and it sends a very important message to younger audiences about open-mindedness and acceptance
Two things I liked about ROTMNT were one: the new character designs, and two: a villain that wasn’t Shredder. I really liked how they made each of the turtles a different species, like making Raphael a snapping turtle, Leo a red eared slider, Donnie a soft shell, and Mikey a box turtle, and gave them new personalities to make them feel like, well, actual teenagers! Even April got a new design and personality and I love it! She feels so unique! Everyone does! It’s almost like its a completely new TMNT universe, which does make sense, as the TMNT multiverse has been confirmed. As for the new villain, Shredder has always been a bit overused. He’s in every TMNT cartoon as the main antagonist. I liked him the most in the 2012, but this new villain is a breath of fresh air in my opinion. And the animation, MMMMMM! In my opinion, animation is one of the key things in making an animated TV show or movie a good one, along with good characters and a good story, which I think this one has! It feels so anime, which I love! With shows like Hilda and Demon Slayer, it’s not just the story and characters that make it lovable. Hilda had beautiful scenery and artwork, while Demon Slayer had high pace action in the form of seamless animation. And for ROTMNT, It has really cool animation! I can see why people dislike it, but I like it. Sure they’re not the same characters that you grew up with, but aren’t new personality traits and designs a breath of fresh air. And unlike Teen Titans Go, that failure of a Teen Titans reboot, it doesn’t need to use an overused amount of comedy for it to work. It feels something that teenagers of this century would be into with characters that they could relate to. And it’s obvious the creators loved the OG TMNT. Why would they decide to purposefully create a trashier version of the TMNT shows only to spend so much money and time on animation?
Omg yes I love it . It was honestly a good show and still is I think the change is good and is a amazing take on a new modern version sucks it only had 2 seasons :/
@@AcyraxJ i just watched it. Almost all of them. It's probably one of the most well animated/consistent shows ive ever seen. Characters are always on model and have a lot of flare.
I'll be honest the animation was part of what threw me off or made me uneasy about this series. Like it honestly feels over done way too often. But since everyone mentions the Trigger studio stuff...... I'll just say it: I don't like Trigger animated series. Don't like Kill la Kill, don't like Gurren Lagan, don't like Darling in th Franxx, and I wasn't a big fan of the Star Wars Visions episode they did. And I don't like BNA. Let alone disliking the new version of Splinter, Leo, and Donnie. Mostly Splinter. I liked April and I like this take on Mikey. Raph was a bit unusual, but not bad. But last second Casey flip felt out of nowhere. The yokai stuff felt fitting, but then suddenly adding in Shredder in the second half felt weird after all the other mystic stuff. The series honestly felt kinda try hard to be drastic and yet relatable. Almost like how the last 2 of 2003 tried too hard to be "kid" friendly. Though I will agree that the Stockman zombie episode is creepy even as an adult.
@@AcyraxJ the animation has always been good, but imo it gets *extra* good in season 2 though the library episode has some of my favorite animation in cartoons to date
Not only did your video make me aware that Rise is a thing, but it made me give it a chance when I otherwise wouldn't have and I'm actually really enjoying it so far. I grew up on the 80's Turtles (born in 1990) and never had the means to watch much else that came after, so thank you for this video, and for giving me a several-hundred episode homework assignment.
I think overall, the 2003 series delivers the most of the goods. It balances the humor inspired from the 1987 series with the dark grittiness from the comics, and develops the characters and storylines very well. It also has the best iteration of Shredder, he's a scary SOB.
I say the 80s because if it wasn't for the 80s version all the other versions wouldn't ever have existed, it's called evolution, they didn't just paved the way they gave each turtle their own colors, made April who was originally black or latina in the original comics white with red hair, they where the first to make splinter and yoshi the same person, introduced bebop & rocksteady and many more great characters such as Krang, Yes Krang was based off the alien beings in the comics but he was never brain shaped and called Krang. Most of the aspects of the upgraded versions where taken from the original show and you could tell that those who created the other shows where greatly inspired y the original. Yes it had less action and more comedy to apple towards more children but that's because it was the 80s and the 80s had more guidlines for children's programming or it would be taken off the air, the original shows creators originally wanted it to be more violent like actually using their weapons but couldn't, even some things in the first episode was taken out like them using weapons on the foot clan who where humans and not robots, there's actually three versions of the first episode which could be found on the collection DVD, I HAVE THE COLLECTION VHS with lost and deleted scenes that was ment to be in the show. The shows producers said they never intended for the foot to be robots but the good thing is is that if it wasn't for that change we all wouldn't have robot ninjas in the other series as well, they where the first to also say turtle power which the comics also adopted to using in the 90s once the tv series became a big hit
The sole thing that I dislike about that Shredder was that he was an utrom. If maybe he had started off as a human or something and transferred his consciousness into an utrom then I would be perfectly fine with his character.
Even If I still feel like 2012 is still my favorite, Rise feels so refreshing, and the animation is so good! Sure the personality they gave the characters is bound to feel odd if you grew up with the 2012 and older versions, but it's good! Just like I loved the live action movie I feel open to give Rise a chance
I totally agree going with 2012 Leo for character category. My fav is the 2012 but don’t mind the the others. 2012 Leo has the most character improvement. From the start of the show to the end, you can see how much he changed compared to the other Leo’s. And every tmnt show has its pros and cons and it has their fair share moments. They are cool in threat own way
Rise turned me off due to the drastic changes, but after giving it another shot I can definitely say this was a good show. Season 1 was a slow start but I can’t help thinking had they no been canceled they had a lot to expand on the plot For what it gave us, it was a blast. Also probably the one time I liked the April x Donnie dynamic even if it wasn’t romantic
As a lifelong tmnt fan I didn’t like the changes at first, but eventually I came to appreciate them and I think its honestly cool that they decided to shake things up and open up new stories and stuff. Plus the animation is really good lol
@@Notme-255 I actually started watching it after one of the reviewers I liked ported her wife’s reviews when they merged their channels. One of those reviews was for Rise and it looked really good so I checked it out. Might also have the best origin story for the turtlesX
Fun fact, the order of which the Turtles names were stated in the 2012 intro is the same order as when they were stated in the 1987 intro. Leo, then Donnie, then Raph, then Mikey
Fun fact: the actor who plays the 2012 version of Michelangelo is also the voice of Beast Boy from the 2003 original series. Would it be hella cool to have a Teen Titans x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover series? I mean, we have see the Turtles cross paths with the Dark Knight so it would be great to have another DC/IDW collaboration.
2012 was the only series I had watched for years. I have the theme song memorized. I remember the only thing I’d watch on Nickelodeon was TMNT, and the nostalgia I have for this series is crazy. My favorite turtle is either Raph or Mikey, it goes back and forth between those two. And, finally, TURTLE POWER!
Tbh. Fight scenes on the 2017 cartoon looked gorgeous but I loved the choreography of the 2012 version. Also the 2012 theme song is the best as a song even though the 1987 song is more iconic
Personally I really liked the 2012 series. They did really good with their cgi, and fight choreography was fairly solid, as was the writing… until season 4. Teenage Mutant ninja Tortoises in space became a bit too far removed from the original premise for my tastes and i still have yet to watch the full season
I grew up with TMNT 2012 so it holds a very important place in my heart but I also have a massive appreciation for Rise because of the style, animation, character personalities and sense of fun
Okay, in Rise! Leo’s defence for a quick moment: Him not really caring about or wanting to be leader is more than just laziness. Id put it more as “fear of responsibility”, (though laziness does work lmao). AND, despite what he’s rather everyone believe, he has massive self confidence issues. He takes the longest to learn to use his mystic weapon, which is probably kind of new to him considering he’s basically a gifted kid, and he doesn’t actively offer anything to the team, (that he can see). (He’s describes himself as the “face man” a lot but he’s so much more than that.) Despite the fact that he would be best fit for the role in battle, he doesn’t even properly realize this because A, Raph is a good leader, and B. He doesn’t think he’d be able to do the job. But 2012 Leo and 2003 Leo DEFINITELY deserved that spot. :) Though I think I lean towards Rise Leo just slightly because Relatable Haven’t finished the video yet, but I am enjoying it immensely so far! :D

While it is true that Turtle Power by Partners in Kryme (which plays in the 1990 movie) had the lyrics-
“Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello make up the team
with one other fellow, Raphael.
He's the leader of the group, transformed from the norm by the nuclear goop.”
-Raphael wasn’t actually the leader in the 1990 movie.
Well he wasn’t totally pure pure evil ( but he did sounded kinda dumb/insane repeating the turtles splinter thing ) since he still cared about Karai despite using her, since as Super shredder he had to do a lot of injections before not hesitating against the Karai hologram
Édit ; nvm the comment above me did it better
Shredder's motivation in 2012 was still probably the best one though. The other Shredders all wanted to conquer or destroy Earth just because they wanna. Especially 2003. Like the guy had no backstory at all and does evil things just because.
But that's exactly why he was good. He's the Shredder. He's supposed to be evil
I think Shredder's motivation could have made more sense if they had focused on WHY he loved Tang Shen and what she brought out in him, which I feel like no version has ever explored.
I love all the art styles. The art style of ROTMNT makes all the turtles look more unique.
It made 9 year old me re live my donnie phase bro-
@@mimiations6166 it pains me that I can relate to this-
Raph in ROTMNT is definitely unique compared to the other iterations of him.
Someone could argue that the turtles should all look the same because, well, they're ninjas. But the character design works here because the series has a much more different, comedic tone than the previous ones and I LOVE IT! It wasn't made for selling toys, so that's a bonus lol
@@pimpkins0831 Pretty sure it's confirmed the turtles are like.. different turtle types? Idk if i'm right but i think Donnie's a soft shell
@@pepita2437
It was a build up for his character growth, which was rushed because Nickelodeon...it' what he learned in the movie. Take responsibility.
@@pepita2437 That's the point of Rise, the changes. It was a nice chance of pace from every single almost identical iteration with Leo.
@@rise.-mikey None of the Leo's were almost identical, but they were still recognizable.
12 Leo was geeky, and the other turtles always made fun of his very archaic sense of honor.
03 Leo was vey focused, and was constantly fighting with his feeling of inadequacy, and his past traumas (he even had PTSD)
BAyverse Leo was very cautious, but at the same time they made him very controlling.

That and Rise also has anime influence, at least for the battle scenes
Rise's community hasn't been very chill, at least from what I've seen. I see most of them brutally tearing down the other TMNTs just to prove Rise is better, and that keeps me from really enjoying it.

That explains why micky is my favorite turtle
And then there will be a 5th tmnt cartoon show people will forget making Venus the ninja turtle everyone forgets.
Couldn’t agree more that show made me so happy

For someone born in 2003 and watched both 2003 and 2012 TMNT. I can't lie that I can also prefer the shows that are memorable to me. I was like that with Teen Titans go (when I was a pre-teen/child) and didn't like it because of how they canceled the original show on a cliffhanger. But now that im older and more mature, I accepted that the new reboots could be good or even better than the show I grew up with. I haven't watched Rise but im planning to with an open mind since the fight scenes are so smooth like butter.
@Kian I feel the same way
I grew up with the 2012 TMNT and love it from the bottom of my heart, but I also enjoyed ROTTMNT, it truly brings a new perspective to the traditional story. April's character was so much more confident and well thought, the family dynamics between the turtles and their father are wholesome, and there is a lot more humor sided with an unique artstyle & character design.
you need to watch 2003 version
@@SupportTheLittleGuy2003 is the best version fr
I agree I watched the entire show 12 times and still don’t get bored
@@chrisgoris3794 That’s very true. Especially since he mentioned in the video that both of the series are tied in certain qualities.
@Jj it's not even edgy
@Jj the first five seasons are extremely good. It does a better job with interconnecting stories then any other TMNT cartoon series. There is a feel to it with their action has consequences like City in a War arc. The pacing is much better in all five seasons.

It's just enjoyable to me
Plus 2012 Splinter could get it anytime anywhere
After reading some of the recent comments, it's been made apparent it just might be a generation thing. If they were to replay the entire 2003 series on TV from start to finish I'd wager all the children who grew up on the 2012-2018 version would have a difference of opinion. It was just that good: In action, moral, comedy, suspence etc.. birthed the most fearsome shredder to date.
Grew up with the 2012 version, I would say that one has to be my favorite.

You know what I really love about 2012 Splinter? Is the only one who actually acts like a ninja; all Splinters are wise old men, but 2012's is the only one who used techniques like those of a ninja, using his surrounding to his advantage, and wasn't over "cheating" if meant the greater good.
True that
2003 was the best in my opinion.
@@brotherblue3340 u grew up with it
I think that’s mostly because Splinter in the 2012 series was around 40 years old so he was a lot more spryer and fast.
The 2012 is the best, for:

It’s my favorite as well
Honestly:
Original: Watched it as a kid and looved a loot, but the show didn't finish when it stopped airing, so I am nostalgic, but not attached.

The original deserves all the credit for making turtles into the phenomenon it became. It went from a cult indie comic to an overnight worldwide sensation. It was like the beatles or Star Wars. The media called it Turtlemania.

Even if they didn't know it when they first met. i feel like ROTTMNT should be continued into season 3. it has an active fan base that's growing quickly and it has lighthearted moments and representation that make it a comfort show for a lot of people. and after watching both seasons and the movies, the story gets dark in a lot of ways like 2003 does. it has the legitimate threat of death and loss and the importance of family and it sends a very important message to younger audiences about open-mindedness and acceptance
Can someone tell me what episodes of ROTMNT have the most impressive action scene animation?
TMNT 2012 is offensively good, like, I'm offended by how good it is. It's THAT good. Easily the best show of the bunch.
2003 is better. Far more dark, gritty and sticks to the lore.
Far better characters as well in my opinion.
So much passion in this vizeo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Uno reverse
Agreed
The sole thing that I dislike about that Shredder was that he was an utrom. If maybe he had started off as a human or something and transferred his consciousness into an utrom then I would be perfectly fine with his character.

2012 was my childhood, I was so mad when it ended and the Rise serious begun. But now I see the story just ended and nothing could be done.

Season 1 was a slow start but I can’t help thinking had they no been canceled they had a lot to expand on the plot
For what it gave us, it was a blast. Also probably the one time I liked the April x Donnie dynamic even if it wasn’t romantic
Yeah me too!! I liked how it showed more of Donnie’s character and geek side lol!
As a lifelong tmnt fan I didn’t like the changes at first, but eventually I came to appreciate them and I think its honestly cool that they decided to shake things up and open up new stories and stuff. Plus the animation is really good lol
Yeah really liked Donnie in rise
I just started watching it because of how AMAZING the animation was.
Greg Cipes I think was his name
There actually is a crossover film between Batman and TMNT
It better be the Better version of teen Titans then the goofy ones
And the 2014
@@Shadowangel615 yeah it’s a movie
TMNT is blessed because there is no such thing as a bad TMNT installment
next mutation and the michael bay movies

Rise is the bad one though

The Next Mutation Was Horrible, The First TMNT Bay Movie was Bad, and Out Of The Shadows Was Incredible
2012 was the only series I had watched for years. I have the theme song memorized. I remember the only thing I’d watch on Nickelodeon was TMNT, and the nostalgia I have for this series is crazy. My favorite turtle is either Raph or Mikey, it goes back and forth between those two. And, finally, TURTLE POWER!
same
So... what chu thought of season 4 now that you prob finished it ?
@@Isokatmydydecsf 👀👀
season 4 is personally my favorite season, but everyone has their own take on things
Though I think I lean towards Rise Leo just slightly because Relatable
Haven’t finished the video yet, but I am enjoying it immensely so far! :D
