Fun Fact; the redheaded girl who you saw with a beard is a Dwarf (in classic D&D style, the four girls are a dwarf, an elf, a halfling, and a human), and her beard is actually a really interesting plot point. It sets up pretty early that all dwarves, male or female, grow beards in this universe, and that some 'rebelious teenager' dwarven girls will shave their beards, which is seen as a taboo and an affront to dwarven traditions. I believe her brother berated her for wanting to be too much like humans and not respecting her heritage over it in the first arc. It looks silly and definitely could come off as an aggressive attempt to masculinize a character at first glance, but it's actually an integral part of her character and her relationship with her past.

Comics and Diveristy isn't a fantasy guy, but it's pretty common knowledge/joke about how the dwarves in something as massive as Lord of the Rings aren't all male, the female have beards too so you never notice it. And thanks for posting this context it's pretty funny how looking more feminine is rebellious to dwarves but is more traditional to us. Seems like they're just having fun.

I love Rat Queens. I think it's the rare comic that both SJWs and Anti-SJWs would enjoy. Strong female leads, all of which are sexy in their own way; even the occasionally bearded dwarf woman, lol. Plus, you know, lots of nudity, sex, and drugs. Which may be why SJWs wouldn't be fans of it. Can't show sexy fictional characters nude.

    • @Goldschlager

SJWs LOVE nudity, sex and drugs but not when it is only straight white characters partaking in it.

I read the first series and it was good. It's at it's best when it's being funny like this book. When it tries to get to series it's a bit meh, especially when the bring in some of the relationship drama. Overall I agree with D&C, it's a recommend.

Sounds like it might be something that I might read. As far as the bearded Dwarf girl and the manish orc lady, those are just tropes of the fantasy genre and have been there since the inception. Dwarven women (in many things) can be bearded (usually shorter then a man's) and all orcs are supposed to basically be Ubermensch, including the women.

This humor is like an anti-jokes. When you pick up a sword and a cave and ask about it, you expect to hear some legendary story, and instead it's just "It is said one can use this sword to attack their enemies."
    its pretty funny
Its hard for me to explain it like you said, but it does remind me of Gag/looney toons humor

I'm glad that you got some enjoyment out of this. I'm fairly into the series and I have the first three trades, looking forward to the fourth in October. It is easy to pass it as the most cliche'd SJW thing possible, but it's really just good bloody fun for the most part. The characters are mostly likeable and they all have their flaws. The black woman, Dee , is not a magically-great-at-everything type or other such nonsense. I don't really have a problem with women swearing, I have to say.

quick character synopsis for D&C and anyone else
Dee - black straight women / mage / "married"
Violet - ginger straight dwarf women / warrior / dating orc Dave / sometimes has beard because shes a dwarf all dwarfs have beards
Hannah - half elf half "demon" straight women / mage / was banging the captain of the guard in their home adventuring city
Betty - halfling lesbian women / rouge / likes drugs and sweets
Braga - orc bi maybe lesbian women / warrior / was from a "rival" adventuring group that almost got wiped out in the first story arc in the first series (not much on this one she joined in series 2 of rat queens and im way behind on this book)

I sometimes draw my female dwarves with facial hair too. By Tolkien and Gygax's description, they should have full beards and be practically indistinguishable from males, but honestly I never take it quite that far. Nope, not gonna. Not in MY realm. In fact, I go outta my way to make it clear from their curves and facial structure that they are women. I almost have to because dwarves are inherently stockier and sturdier than humans. To the point that my female dwarves usually end up being a little sexier than I intended, even when fully clothed. Again, fine by me... Them dwarves DO curse a lot though. I fix this by making them curse in their own tongue, along with some variants that are only mildly offensive.

Rat Queens is good it has a feel of hanging out with you friends playing D&D. The art was much better in the first two trades. Then the artist hit his wife and he left the book. Then Tess Fowler came on to keep the sjws on but her art was bad and she got fired. She put the beard on the dwarf ( even though in the books she shaves it in defience ) she also made the characters fatter and gave one a extreme mental hair cut too. She was not happy about being fired either.

A few points about Rat Queens: They are all straight except the blonde gnome is a lesbian and the half-orc female was once a dude? something like that. The female with the beard is a dwarf and in many mythological stories dating back decades female dwarves have beards. Reading from the beginning, the story is full of diversity and inclusion but in a good way imho. I highly enjoy the series.

The Darth Vader hardback was enjoyable, and the introduction of Aphra who (out of place as she seemed in the universe) was definitely bearable and not at all SJW-written so as long as VD is more of the same I'll just go for it.

I know that this comment has nothing to do with the video, but you mentioned Dungeons & Dragons cartoon, and man! that cartoon was awesome! well fleshed out characters and a lot of real drama, the ones you don't see in cartoons nowadays. I was watching an episode a couple of days ago actually, with a friend of mine who has never watched it (he's a couple of years younger than me) and he has a kid, and in one moment he goes "wow, that's messed up dude! I don't know if Ivan (his son) is ready to watch something like this" and man... I don't want to generalize, and I know that there must be a cartoon nowadays that has characters carrying heavy burdens on their shoulders, but I think they are the least common (I'm talking about cartoons, American cartoons for kids, not anime and other types of animations for young adults and stuff)

The funny thing about you not liking swearing is that a hall mark of sjw type writing is that they don't swear. Not everything has to be effing and blinding but overly twee writing usually ends in a terrible experience

The little halfing girl is a lesbian, which leads to size jokes when she is with normal sized girls (which will definitely put strange thoughts in your head). The other main 3 are not lesbians (not really...).

It really is a good series! After a certain point the writer got arrested for beating his wife and the series got picked up by another artists. Pretty ironic stuff.
