He was good and great for his age. Best of that era?!?....LMAO. You obviously don't know or listen to much metal in that era. Ever heard of George Lynch? Yngwie? both Maiden and Priest guitarists?? Hell, any thrash/prog band lead player was better. Don't get me wrong, Viv was a beast, nowhere close to best bro, don't be silly....
Vivian is my guitar hero. One day I would like to meet him. He’s just a humble unbelievable guitar player that has came up with so many riffs it’s hard to imagine how.
Big fan of Vivian!!! Beautiful signature tone and original solos on all his work. He is on my list of all-time great rock guitarists. Love that he jamming with Def Leppard.
My wife asked me this morning "What was the first concert you ever saw?" ... She played something that was instantly forgettable. I Thought about it for a minute. I had seen Journey, Van Halen (1984), Rush, Styx, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot all in the same year or so. Then it came to me, the VERY first concert was Dio, 1983. I went to UA-cam and the raw power of the videos of the '83 tour that I saw blew me away... even to this day. His voice truly was second to none. RIP.
RENEW VH '81 then¥Ncle TED NUGENT PENATRATor TOUR 9TH ROW GOT PR.STX ALLCHEWED UP BY SUCH A HEAVY SOLO IT WOULD BLO YOUR EVER LOVIN MIND HEADBANGER STYLE!
RENEW we must be the same age... Dio and twisted sister I think mine was. Seen them all at New Haven CT.... Ozzy with Brad G ... just missed Randy R.... Ted Nugent was insane! ! Dokken and Maiden. ... Viv is my favorite guitarist. ....
Viv was a close second behind gary Moore for me. He had a lot of his style going on and and during this period a killer guitarist who laid down some benchmark solos.
Dude, Vinnie’s drum sound is so freaking legendary and superb! His drumming is top notch and his sound just knocks it right out of the arena!! One of the best drum sounds ever!!! I don’t think I’ll get much debate on that either!
Well boys ...sometimes being a massive worldwide legend rock god doesn't mean you gotta solid contractual agreement with the Dagon overlords(masters of reality).such is history
Just LISTEN to this...Dio's band at its peak. Vivian's guitar match Dio's vocals perfectly. A real shame he didn't get to finish the Sacred Heart tour.
I can't help but watch this and think "my gosh, look how young Vivian Campbell looked back then" and then I think to myself "I looked young back then too" :) I'm 54 now and grew up on this fantastic music ;)
@@georgekolotouros230 that's awesome! My first concert was in '79, I was 14 - it was Eddie Money, Pat Benatar and Journey in Flint, MI at Atwood stadium. That concert would still hold up today :) I only saw Dio once, with Yngwie Malmsteen. Craig Goldy was playing guitar for Ronnie. He was good, but Viv was always the one for me.
I think the first Dio song that I heard was Don't Talk To Strangers and I've been a big fan of Vivian's guitar work (while in Dio) ever since! I think these days he tends to play it too safe, but then again, time moves on and 80's won't be coming back so no point in being stuck in the old. I'm just happy that we have these old records.
The man's voice was not of this world. So much power and control. I've often mused over who had the best voice in metal... Dickinson, halford and Tate are up there but for me it's RJD.... RIP to a legend
I introduced my wife to Dio (she is quite a bit younger) and she described him as follows: He is like a little, evil troll who comes out from under your porch, climbs into your heart and makes you love him for all time"!
Just stopping here to say that I'm a Vivian fan through Def Leppard. Dio is not for me. Anyway, I stopped here to see Vivian play and read the comments. It occurred to me that Dio fans are better to Vivian than Def Leppard fans. Def Leppard fans like to comment that Viv is good, but he's no Steve Clark. That the band isn't is good without Steve. These comments go on and on. And on. Anyway, cheers to you guys for appreciating the guy. On a side note, I briefly met the man himself and he was very gracious with his time with a couple of kids. An awesome rock star.
True, there is no substitute for Steve, but the band had to move on and they couldn't have picked a better musician. That being said, Vivian's talents are not being utilized to the full potential. He is AWESOME.
To me, Vivian is better that Steve Clark, but everyone has their own taste when it comes to axe-slingers. I always thought Vivian was one of the best in the 80’s when he was with Dio! 🤟😎🤟
Vivian Campbell made Def Leppard better imho, the songs are fuller, the problem most people have is it’s no longer the 80’s, Adrenalize showed that, but I don’t think bad of Steve Clark, the band said he left a year before he died.
As a Def Leppard fan I must say, altough the best albuns were with Steve Clark, Viv Campbell was the best they could have ever had. I like both Clark and Campbell. Personally, I enjoy more Clark's Riffs and creativity, but Campbell as an awesome technique and passion. They both are among my fav guitar players. Campbell's work in Dio is the best and Dio without Campbell were never the same.
Vivian Campbell was Dio's diamond.
Paul Arias true!
Where is he?????
@@FM_User1 , Def Leppard
Or his 4 leaf clover, since Vivian Campbell is Irish!
Every Lead Guitarist Dio had was good. Vivian wasn't Ronnie's Diamond by no means
I'm 75 and this still gives me chills.
might be COVID?
We rock! 🤘
Vivian was the best metal guitarist of that era easily! His solos classic!
I hate it when retards that cover these songs ruin them by brainlessly shredding instead of giving these masterpiece solos the respect they deserve.
Hard to believe someone that good ended up with Def Leppard, I like them….just saying
He was good and great for his age. Best of that era?!?....LMAO. You obviously don't know or listen to much metal in that era. Ever heard of George Lynch? Yngwie? both Maiden and Priest guitarists?? Jake e lee
Yup...best but just short of Gary Moore. Lol...since I'm biased .
You rarely see this level of quality on guitar
He’s a great guitarist. He doesn’t really get to shine playing with Def Leppard now.
Vivian never got the respect he deserved. Unbelievable guitarist. He made dio.
15 years old when he joined/formed dio and wrote the holy diver album
@@PeteUnsigned 19 years old - Holy Diver was mostly written before he joined, however, last in line was all Vivian.
YES, and NOT the other way 'round!
Dio made Dio dumass
Vivian is my guitar hero. One day I would like to meet him. He’s just a humble unbelievable guitar player that has came up with so many riffs it’s hard to imagine how.
The original DIO lineup..at their BEST....thx for the upload!
Best use of words into world class sentence.. thx for teaching..
Last in line has one of my favorite guitar solos of all time..amazing
Dimebag thought the same thing
Jeez, I think that last in line guitar solo is the best guitar solo ever played!
Man, Viv killing it on that Charvel.
Big fan of Vivian!!! Beautiful signature tone and original solos on all his work. He is on my list of all-time great rock guitarists. Love that he jamming with Def Leppard.
About 10% of all your views on the video are from me.
Good job, i love that song.
Great vibrato, great feeling.
One of the best voices and stage theatrics in heavy rock / metal.
the best**
Viv and Ronni were to perfect to ever get along, pair of geniuses, would love to see Viv play like he used to. He was an absolute beast!
Same here bro... Love to see Viv play like this..... So sad... Hes a rhythm guitar of def leppard! 😔😔😔🤟
Check out Vivian's band "Last In LIne". He plays like he used to in this band. Vinny Appice is on drums:)

J-Styga I saw Randy in his first American Appearance and Ozzys Blizzard at the Palladium in Manhattan. Those were great days.
Me too.
Vivian is still and will always be a bad ass guitar player.
Me personally Dio hands down best metal singer of all time with out about tommy atkins
Ronnie at his Very Best. Vivian was beaming with talent. Fantastic lineup.
Vivian Campbell it's amazing too
Marco Rivera super amazing
Viv was a close second behind gary Moore for me. He had a lot of his style going on and and during this period a killer guitarist who laid down some benchmark solos.
Hell yea, Vivian was killing it man. Dio is a god!

I miss Ronnie..What a performer..
My dio my dio..i miss u madly...RIP...😢
They just mixed both songs seamlessly together 🤯🤯🤯
Don't know how he can dance about in those heels. A touch of the Ginger Rogers I think!
fk this song just makes you want to punch your fist in the air!! RIP Ronnie .. you have NOT been forgotten!
Holy fuck..Viv Campbell on stage with Dio for us all to relived the historic moment again and again and again🤘🏽🤘🤘🏾
The pinnacle of heavy metal right there.
Nothing like a Charvel through a Marshall amp
Damn, what a great solo!!!
I love the climb of this solo, then my favorite part of all is the riffs @ 3:13.
Boys and Girls, a quick little 7 minute and eighteen second lesson in METAL.
I can't help but watch this and think "my gosh, look how young Vivian Campbell looked back then" and then I think to myself "I looked young back then too" :) I'm 54 now and grew up on this fantastic music ;)
murphshall I was 21 in 1983. My first concert was Scorpions blackout tour in San Diego. Saw every Dio tour from 85 on.

The best hands down metal singer!! Vivian rips
Happy birthday dear and great Ronnie. Best regards from Russia.
Too bad RJD and Viv never reconciled because they made magic together.
I think the first Dio song that I heard was Don't Talk To Strangers and I've been a big fan of Vivian's guitar work (while in Dio) ever since! Vivian Campbell 😍
An underrated MASTER. RIP Ronnie! You're a rainbow in the dark!
underrated? i think dio was always considered one of the greatest singers...
The best there was, but certainly not underrated
La muerte de Ronnie es la más clara prueba de q Dios no existe, o eso o es un tiñoso
Underrated??? Lol
He's widely regarded as one of the greatest metal vocalists ever wtf you talking about
All of us back then…knew we were there for viv…
🙏 RIP man. We love you. We always will. We are the greatest generation because of you and your generation 🙏🖖 we are the last in line...
Great band Dio always the best Vivian exlent
Dio has great sound production quality, in the studio & live. Dynamic
Best solo ever
Only shots of Vivian are during the solo and a few brief shots. The devil eats his own.
What a fantastic guitarist and yes he never got the recognition that he should have but he is a badass guitarist in my book
Never to come again.....RIP Ronnie.

Spare a thought for Jimmy Bain as well. RIP Jimmy and Ronnie. Warm regards from India.

Isso sim que é música, vocal do Dio é de arrepiar a banda impecavel. Sem palavras muito bom mais muito bom mesmo
Vivian Campbell -Is a talented guitarist of the 80's. Since joining DLP, I have never seen a heavy solo again.❤❤❤
Back here in Malaysia yr '87 saw Ronnie in poster both hand trendsetting the metal sign with a tagline..
..Stay Away From Witchcraft.!!
I saw them on that tour! Great!
I introduced my wife to Dio (she is quite a bit younger) and she described him as follows: He is like a little, evil troll who comes out from under your porch, climbs into your heart and makes you love him for all time"!

Kissessssssss Jennifer
Yes, Bulgaria loves its metal!! Especially the King of Metal, Mr. Ronnie James Dio!!
i think that Araki had to have gone to this particular show. i mean the guy makes lots of references to ronnie james dio's songs
Dio the best singer in heavy metal
Best vocal dio rock metal
Musta wrecked havoc on Ronnie’s Feet wearing them 4 inch heels.
Fabulous! 🤟🏻💀
Simplesmente sensacional
What a great band. Dio's good too.
Oh Hell Yeah.. never gets old..
When Vivian left, he took the heart of DIO with him. Love Ronnie, but not playing your guys cost you one of the best metal lineups evah
いまだにDefのVivianはしっくり感じない‥やはり彼はDio時代がベストだったな☝ もちろんロニーは世界一の🎤ヴォーカリスト❗
