- Our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Fort Worth is up and caps are heading out all over North America. We couldn’t be more excited!
For those of you with a SmartCap on backorder, the increased production is first and foremost going towards fulfilling those orders. Our team is dilligently working to get caps into your hands as quickly as we can build ‘em, package ‘em, and ship ‘em out the door. We are truly grateful, both for your patience and for your business. Receiving the cap is the beginning of what we hope will be an outstanding relationship.
For those considering a SmartCap, first, thank you! Second, increased production should reduce lead times, so please keep an eye on our site as we update availability dates.

Since it will be made here will there be a price drop? No more import tariffs and logistics have been drastically reduced. We shall see
While it is true that having a factory in North America will have many great benefits for SmartCap and our customers, price saving will likely not be one of them. The cost of labor and materials in North America is far greater than what we experience currently in South Africa.
That said, we do feel we offer a great product that our customers will feel is a great value for the money, and they will enjoy for many years to come.
I really like mine in ND for my upland game rig.

Is there any update on the third gen Tundra (2022+) production?
The EVO Sport and the EVOa Adventure caps for the '22+ Tundras are scheduled to begin production toward the middle of October.
I've been waiting for two years for one for my Tacoma. Should I be getting excited?

Currently the EVO series caps for your rig are being made in our South African facility. This may change going forward, as we work to figure out how to best utilize our three factories to reduce lead times and get caps into the hands of consumers as efficiently as possible. For now, we can tell you that the Tacoma and the F150 are coming out of Texas.
That said, with the exception of a few design changes we implemented from our Gladiator caps, the products coming out of NA and SA are the same.
So how long does it take to get one to upstate New York USA

I've read online that caps coming out of this plant have more issues than the South African plant. Are the issues with paint peeling and leaks resolved?
When we first commissioned the new Ft. Worth manufacturing facility, the extreme heat in the area played havoc with our paint plant. We have now sorted out these issues, but rest assured, we stand behind every product we make, and if there are any issues with the quality, we'll make it right.

Not at this time. We'll definitely pass on your suggestion to our design/development team. Can you please confirm that you had a manufacturing issue with recently made Tacoma panels. I ordered through a company and have been waiting patiently
First let us say, "thank you" for your patience as we ramp up our manufacturing. The process is going very well, and we are catching up steadily on our backorders. With regard to your question concerning manufacturing issues, we have not had any issues with the products we are producing out of the new Fort Worth facility, or any other facility.
Your dealer should be a good point of contact regarding the timing on your order, but feel free to use the "Contact Us" link on our website, and we can try to assist as well.
@@smartcap_official thank you for the response and update. It was the dealer that I ordered through that emailed in regards to the manufacturering issue. Something in regards to the painting.
When we began production back in April, we were not able to run at full capacity, due to issues with the paint plant within our facility. Those issues were corrected, and we're now full steam ahead. Thanks for checking in. We look forward to seeing your SmartCap atop your rig very soon!

We understand how you feel. We have been so laser-focused on getting our new facility up and running, in order to shorten lead times and cover backorders. that we haven't been able to dedicate the efforts needed to create a new line of products. Now that we are getting those ducks in order, we'll work to get it done. Hopefully you can hang in there with us a bit longer. But if not, we wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose.
@@smartcap_official So I've noticed the product has been removed from your website except for links that lead to "404 page not found". Does that mean it is no longer in development or is it going to be released soon with a new page?
@@christopherhughes7970 Due to the increased demand for our EVO Series truck caps and our continued focus on growing capacity in all of our manufacturing facilities, we have decided to put our Bed Replacement System product line on hold. While we intend to eventually return to manufacturing this line, for the time being, globally, we will no longer be offering Flat Beds, SmartCap XLs, Drop-Sides, and Adventure Racks.
I just wish it was a little cheaper. LOL
Thanks very much for your thoughts, and for your interest in SmartCap. With regards to the pricing of our products, it is first necessary to understand that while at first glance you may think we are quite a bit more expensive, the moment you price out a fiberglass cap with a similar feature-set to the SmartCap, you’ll find the price difference is much lower than it appears. Our standard features include: stainless steel 5-piece modular construction, capable of carrying up to 770 lbs static & 330 lbs dynamic, large Gullwing side doors with hidden hinges, keyed-alike locks and flush-mounted sliding vent windows, a Positive Pressure Air Vent, Cargo Light Portal Window, integrated Roof Rails, and the ability to remove it (in as little as 15 minutes) if you want. All of these things come standard with a SmartCap.
We hope that you’ll take a close look at our products. We think you’ll find that they are state-of-the-art, and will provide value to the user for many years to come.

Unfortunately that's a tough ask. We have developed a cap for the Gen 2 Tacoma, but it is doubtful that we'll go as far back as the Gen 1. We certainly appreciate you asking and your desire to include us in your build. Sorry we don't have better news for you.

We certainly can understand your disappointment. As we have just recently launched our products in North America, we had to limit the number of offerings, and unfortunately we couldn't build a SmartCap for every available make/model/year out there, or we would have.
