Of all the underestimated, under-appreciated rock and roll bands of all time, Triumph must be number one. Why is a mystery to me. Great songs, great musicians, great live performers. I discovered these guys way back when they debuted "American Girls", and have been a fan ever since.
American Girls is probably one of my favorite Triumph songs. It rocks,it's true , and it's funny! Should have been a hit!
@@johncopple6479 Damn right!
Thin Lizzy says hold my Guinness.
This is unbelievably awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rock & Roll Machine
Ok, best cover EVER of Rocky Mountain Way. Wow!!!
********one of the best Canadian bands ever, along with Rush and April Wine etc...********
And get the old albums Rick plays some amazing blues, ohhh yaaaaaaa
Correction one of the best bands ever
Perfect combination, uplifting riffs and vocals, classic song, classic band
Mr. Rik Emmett
Mr. Mike Levine
Mr. Gil Moore
Version Killer From Joe Walsh ⚡🔥🎸👊💪🤘😎
Great Band From Canadian ⚡🔥👊💪🤘😎
Emmett is a bad ass guitar player...wow!
Damn, you know how hard it is to sing and play drums at the same time? Very difficult. That is why you don't see it done very often, and to be done as well as this...this is a timeless cover of Joe Walsh's hit. Magic!
That's why Gil was one of me favorite drummers who never got his just due in my opinion!
It's not hard. I've been doing it for 30 years.
Gil is fav, loved Triumph from the beginning... Rik is amazing
Ha! I listened to this version for years and thought Joe had covered Triumph - ;-)
and who are you?
Shredding it old school.
Bonus points for the multiple Rocktagon cymbals!!
Best band ever. Seen them many times! 💕 😊
This brings back some very happy memories. I was there.
Me too!
This is an awesome cover. Triumph certainly knows how to kick it. That's saying a lot since my absolute fave guitarist to watch perform is Joe Walsh. Joe has so much Rock N Roll swag .. makes my heart happy. You can tell he loves rocking out. Plus Joe has a great sense of comfortable stage humor. So yeah my fave rendition of this song is the original artist Joe Walsh. However Triumph was astounding. Loved how Gil took over as lead singer here .. that was the ticket for this song imho. Of course have to add the magnificent guitar riffs by Rik were as always plain ear gasms❣️ One of the best covers I've experienced .. Ty
Gil sang like half their stuff. He was Triumph. Listen to American Girls or something from their earlier years. Gil sang quite a lot really especially in concert.
Rik did sing more and more and commercially, it paid off. Like the Eagles gradually changing to more Don Henley over Glenn Frye.
@@rustytimetraveler TY .. I'll check them out to review. Surely I've more than likely heard them already. But I can't remember everything I've heard over the years honestly. Enjoy the evening 🙂🤘🏼
@@ramonaalvarez7559 most people don't know there's two singers because they kind of had the same range but different styles. Both great.
Thanx nice person..😊(Ramona) you have a nice evening as well.
@@rustytimetraveler TYVM🙂
Always one of my favorite bands along with Y&T. I wish Triumph would get back together and do a reunion tour.
One of the best covers ever
Rik Emmitt co wrote this song with Joe Walsh. It’s not a cover
Man Rik could play, underrated by the masses... and Gil wasn't a slouch vocalist either
Triumph performing " Rocky Mountain Way " !! Yeah !!
I have become a new fan of the band, at 46!!! This concert was only a couple months before my 20th birthday.
I love triump, they kicked as on. this song too!!!smooch
Triumph and Rick Santers ,,,Awesome ! ,,,and Yes ,,I am always ready to ROCK -N -ROLL ! Are YOU !!!
I WENT TO THAT CONCERT IN HALIFAX
How in the hell am I just finding out RIGHT NOW that they covered this?! I must have jumped to another timeline...
Dude I just stumbled across this video myself, holy 💩 is all I can say 🤘
Just picked up this record today and had no idea they ever covered this. Badass
Two great lead singers in this band. Just unbelievably good.
I thought these guys wrote this for the longest time. I always said "Joe Walsh ripped this off!" Sorry Joe, I was an idiot! But they do this song well. Triumph Rocks!
Ok. They pass the audition! Wow! Fantastic!!!
Awesome rendition
Triumph - Rocky mountain way -Camino hacia la montaña rocosa . Estos chicos de Canada , fuertes exponentes del rock duro te entretendran con una magnifico show, ellos son del 70 y 80 gracias TriumphAlliedForces por subirlos
triumph s allied forces is one badass ✊ rock album I used to think rush was better but at age 50i realize that I was wrong.
Karlos A M.R anglish porvavorei
GREAT BAND ....not to often you get 2 power vocalists in a band ...
ONE OF THE BEST 70s SONGS EVEEEEEEER , OOOOO YAAAH
Eagles are a band with several great singers.Like you were saying very few have 2 great singers.
Used to love the completely different singing styles of Rik and Gil...but no matter who sings, it still sounds like Triumph.
Before Eddy there was Rik, voted best guitar player 3 years in a row, Rik was more versatile could play anything
Agreed on Lifeson and Emmett being so underrated but I think what most people don't realize is how freaking good Eddie is it rhythm guitar. He is fantastic. That said I'm a huge Lifeson fan as well. As long as we're going there I'm going to throw Gilmore into the mix. Great guitarist as well. It's not about speed.... it's about how well a player can service the song.
@@Snowdogkh for someone to even THINK rik is on par with Edward, well, I'm glad YOU bring EVH rhythm skills into the conversation...without a shadow of doubt his most overlooked quality is his RHYTHM. His use of chords and voicing was second to none. Emmett couldn't hold a candle to EVH. Period. Stay safe and well
EVH buried Emmett and ALL others. Yes I'm a Evh fan and NO my statement bears zero bias. It's fact. Voted best in ANYTHI G is pure subjective.
his name is Rick Santers, he was actually involved with some of the writing and playing on Sport Of Kings, and they decided to take him out on tour for that album, i was at the concert this video was recorded on, and have the DVD where they tell said story.
Good job I read this. I was just going to ask who the 'new' guy was. Thanks.
Fantastic
Awesome, great memories
Ontario Place, 1977 with Moxie, I was 16, and this was my first `big' concert!
wow lucky boy lol the 70s were very fantastic
THANK YOU
One of the most original stiles and heavy metal band of all times
GIL MOORE WAS A GREAT SINGER
Canada fucking Rocks
THE 70s FN ROCK
@@teddyritola2655 Today's Produce Real
They had two great rock and roll singers
I love this group. Rik is an guitarist. Totally under rated. He has a wonderful voice. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!
Rik is definitely not underrated. Everyone in the guitar world knows Rik Emmett is badass!
Sing it Gil!!! Love this music....
Walsh moved from Cleveland to Colorado about a year before writing this song, which celebrates the scenery and the lifestyle of Colorado. In some ways, the song is a Rocked-up version of John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High, which was released the previous year. Both songs use the famous Rocky Mountains as a focal point for the virtues of Colorado. Great song and Triumph did it justice in this live performance...
Oh Hell yeah!
Damn Dude
just damn...
I love it!
@OWHSsoccer07 - Dude this was 1987 & Mike Levine is THE SH**!!!
RECORED IN 1977 GET OVER it its 70s lol All in fun
who would thumbs down this? STELLAR!!!
Awesome my second favorite band actually right after Rush
That's internationally too
A 80s kid
Awesome! Didn't know they did a cover of this classic!! \m/
@3:00 Best Bass EVER
Wow. Now that I think of it I saw this tour. Jaysis!!!
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Rik (The Rocket) Emmit is a truly amazing artist. Probably the most under-rated guitarist of all time. Eddie Van Halen isn't even close. Maybe he should play rythym for Rik. If you think I'm kidding, check out the acoustic work on Triumph's song "Blinding Light Show." It will blow your mind!
Perfect moniker: "GET OFF THE PIPE"
Ridiculous talent !!!!!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻
It's All About 🤔👉 Coming In Low
And Going Out Higher
❤🎉😊
Rick Santers is the other guitar player, I got his debut album in a milk cart in the basement, side 1 was awsome.
Simply said they themselves may not know God used them for good you can believe.yeah baby yeah!
they covered it on their 77 album Rock & Roll Machine
Friends to Healy no doubt. Great cover..live!
i remember when they were a bar band...
I remember when the bars were open.
Mr. Rik Emmett
Mr. Mike Levine

Gil Moore (drummer) sang probably half the songs on all their albums. Here's the opening to Halifax...Gil on vocals. 👉ua-cam.com/video/bWxxgacXvaA/v-deo.html 👍
I know... Leaving links 👋 but hey, it's a good song. 😀
I think Joe would appreciate it!
They kind of lost me when they toured with another guitarist. Their power & mystique was as a trio.
Ya gotta luv Rik's guitar ability -
Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Triumph.
My top 3.
(in that order)
"The bases are loaded and Rikky's at bat"!
Joe Walsh did it first. Then TRIUMPH did a cover of that Hit Single.
Kurt did you really think you had to explain this is triumph covering a joe walsh song?
Kurt Kauffman Thanks Captain Obvious🙄
If you dig rock n roll,
_you already know that!_
@@planetmaxwell01 Kurt Gump.
🙄🤘💥✌️🤔👉
OK, before someone rips me, the drummer sings on this song, but what I said about Rik is still true
Go Michael Go!!
i think it's Rick Santers..he was in the touring band
Close your eyes, that's Devin Townsend singing!
Devin...who?
Rik Emmit rocks
Rick Beato said this was a power trio but I see more than 3 playing
Vladimir Medvedev they added one guitarist when they played live
I believe that's Rick Santers, who also had his own band!!!
a Joe Walsh song; also Godsmack sang a cover version of this too..
I don't know who the other guy is on guitar but he is great
That's Rick Santers!!!
This must be near the end, the second guitarist added, Rik was getting bored of the same old riffs...saw them four times in my life (Debut tour, R&R Machine, Just A Game and Allied Forces) here in Ottawa...always a good show. ("DISCO SUCKS!!!)
Who is the second guitarist?
Rick Santers. I just found that out myself reading the comments.
Better than the original!!
When the play each other's guitars, it's very homoerotic! P.S. Now we know where the inspiration for Derek Smalls came from.
Hahahaha, I have said that same thing about Derek Smalls for years!! :)
@Feedbackboy1 You don't play an Ibanez down low...
There are no Ibanez in this video
its yamaha rgx guitar n fender strat
Rik Emmit is a underrated guitar player and for my money I rather hear Triumph than Rush!!!!!
Me too! :)
Rick was one of the great guitarist but they got a better guitarist after him from Aldo Nova.
Aldo Nova was mostly jazz... a couple of collaborations into rock
I totally agree!
@@forgames1120 a couple collaborations he had 3 rock albums also played with Bon Jovi & produced rock albums as well!!!
🤝🎸🥁🎶😊✌️‼️‼️🇺🇦
aaaahhhhh, the chad in gatineau....
Blame Canada 😂 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 !!! Great triumvirates tripled down triumphs
I am the best guitar player -Eddie Van Halen in every interview ever, hold my beer -Rik Emmett
Never mind the fact RIC had more class all the way round a better everything
Rick Santers on this tour...
What about Angus?
first two albums were their best IMO. The sound totally changed with "Just a game" especially Gil Moore's drumming. It is like a completely different drummer and almost like a diff band. To me his drumming change was def for the worse compared to what you hear in Rock and Roll machine or New York City Street etc. Only thing that remained good was his vocals
I personally think he just got better and better. To each their own, I guess. Excellent drummer/singer! Maybe the best ever...
Who’s the 4th dude?
Rick Santers. I didn't know either till I ran thru the comments.
@@redspice55 oh really? I remember the Santers band. 👍
@@stevemac213 I don't remember them. I'll have to look them up.
Locals Rick santers band and look up Phil x
@@stevemac213v
Johnny was the guitar player in the Ramones great stuff but nowhere near Rik Emmett caliber of playing!Imo
there was a cd where the Guitairist from Kansas joined them for a song too. its pretty awesome
The Drummer has always reminded me of Henry Fonda for some reason?
Lol.he does look like a young fonda ihihih
Gil Moore.
Was that a young Ted Danson at 4:25??? ...Well at least he's not "Danson" in the street.
Hmmm, Rocky Mountain Way song by Joe Walsh or Triumph. I think i am leaning towards Joe Walsh, because he wrote it and kind has a little different version with the voice box and also Joe Walsh sings it kinds different . Plus Joe is a better guitar player.. But both versions are superb by either band.
Have to disagree. Love Joe's version & it is his song. But, Rik can outplay him any day!!
A TOSS UP FOR ME I LIKE EM BOTH ,, But there both 70s Baby
Wait who the heck is the other guitarist? Thought Triumph was just Rik, Gil and Mike???
Rush can learn something from Triumph
You're joking right? I mean I love Triumph but come on.... that's comical. That is if you understand even a quarter of the Rush catalog
@@Snowdogkh LOL...yea i agree altho the only thing triumph has on Rush is harder rock tunes
@@jckhammer I don't know. I'm going to argue that one again.
Go listen to jam in the middle of the Necromancer. Jump to the 7-minute mark at the link below. You will not here are harder Jam by three guys on recording anywhere. Nor will you are one tighter.... That jam is a freakin epic... and if I think I could probably read off another dozen were they really just let it rip. Again I love Triumph don't get me wrong they are a great band but Rush was just light years ahead of everybody and their talent not only in musicianship all three individually and as a group but there's songwriting as well. Simply epic...
ua-cam.com/video/JphWi_GOIao/v-deo.html
the beginning was.... ok, could of done the voice better.
But dear god the solo, I haven't heard anything that crucial since my pink floyd obsession days
A bit sloppy
Dude, that's not even English.
I still like Joe Walsh singing Rocky mountain way. It is way better with his voice box in his mouth
...sorry, but his guitar is slung WAY too high to be a guitar hero!
Feedbackboy1 it's jukebox hero
