Close, but no cigar..They took the best engine out of it..the Audi VW EA831.Turbo charged, IMHO, it could have been the next Audi Quattro. AMC Spirit and Concords with the VW/Audi EA831 engine ended up in 1979. With standard ride height and a coil spring rear suspension, it would have rocked the Ferguson Formula AWD transfer case..A lot of very good technology got Roy Lunn's excellent work.

At that time, it was the ultimate, but that time had a low bar with performance. It could have been something of legend now with the right parts. It's a perfect candidate for a powertrain swap at this point👍
