Dan we're all just happy that you're okay and on a fast healing journey. considering all that happened you are so lucky that you weren't more severely injured. As someone who has been watching your vids for 6 years, you have come such a long way and I'm very proud of the man you have become. Even though i'm a few years younger, it still feels like i've watched you grow up into the amazing person you are today. And because of that i'll watch till the day i die.

Hey Dan, glad to see you are doing better. Been following you for years. First video I ever seen was you riding on your mower wearing the motorcycle helmet and cutting grass, when you had your 1st accident, the BMW, etc. And I've watched every single video since then.

About 4 weeks ago I laid mine down. '07 ZX6R. Was coming home after a 12 hour trip. Was about 4 miles from home and didn't know the city was replacing a gas line. They hadn't stamped the gravel down and it was freshly laid. I hit it going straight and laid her down.
I remember rolling on the ground and then the bike hit me at the end. Was laying there with people driving around me. Probably 7-8 cars. Finally got up and a cop stopped. Told him what happened and he asked if I was okay. He said, alright, and then left. (I in fact was not okay, lol).
Ended up riding the bike home without a rear brake because I snapped the right rear set plate and it cracked the brake line. Woke up the next morning. Realized I had a concussion and road rash from my right knee all the way up to my right shoulder. Multiple ribs broken all over the right side. Long story short, still can't roll over in bed without thinking I am dying.

My brother had an FZ1 for a while and pulled smooth ass wheelies on that all the time. He'd ride my FZ-09 every now and then, and he'd pull some wheelies on that as well. I've done like 2 or 3 but they were all by accident. I'm still too paranoid about doing wheelies on my bike. It still scares me a little bit and with all the upgrades I have into it, I just don't want to wreck it. Some day I may get some beater bike to practice wheelies. But for now, I'm not even going to worry about it lol. Keep up the great progress Dan!
I wanted to learn on my bike but fear of looping and destroying front fork seals I don’t do them. My dirtbike is a different story. But it’s just a little trail bike

I think you're right man, a time comes when you need to dial it down a tiny bit. Sometime life sends you warning messages to be more aware. Maybe you should concentrate on finishing some projects when you're better. Would love to see what you will do next to the Camaro.

I was today years old when I finally accepted that you were intending to do a wheelie when you wrecked the R6. I've maintained for years that it was unintentional when talking about it with my friends and family when they're afraid of me wheelieing (which I can't 'cause I ride a Shadow 750) or doing stupid shit (which I obviously can lmao).

I have a 2015 r6 and I’m only 21, but I got it a few years ago and I quickly realized if I didn’t tone it down on the streets I would wreck. So I typically ride very tamed and don’t push it on the streets. I want to take it to a track. But I did end up wrecking going about 15-25 mph. Just cruising through a neighborhood and I locked up the rear brake, I was looking at a burned down car and rear ended the guy in front of me. The feeling of wrecking the bike is awful. It wasn’t much but knowing it’s my fault made me question if I was even able to ride. But all is good now. Bike is fixed other than a wheel bearing I believe so it’s been sitting

Glad u getting better and i crashed my DRZ back at June 26th breaking my right wrist and left arm (about 95% better now) and some how some way my DRZ is not totaled and im gonna get back around this week or next week! I miss it

Brother, I think you’re hitting a milestone. A few years ago, I realized that I had to slow down on being a dipshit. Getting older changes some stuff, like healing slower and getting fucked up easier. Stay safe out there. Wheelies are fun, but so is not dying. I’m glad you’re still with us and mostly ok. You get used to the screws. I have 5 in my right ankle. The one on the front/top like yours still feels super weird even 10 years plus later.
I went through a similar incident but luckily enough I didn’t need to have surgery with plates or screws. I looped my Zx10r on I-95 at 80 mph and in my right foot I shattered 3 different spots in my metatarsals. Broke my hand on the thumb, Palm bone, and shattered my pinky knuckle. And hurt my back, rotator cuffs etc. just imagine rolling down a road at 80 mph. I. Happy to see a speedy recovery. Don’t push yourself too fast. That’s what I did and I fucked myself. With the metatarsals being shattered I there was nothing they can do, all the bone was in the right "zip-code" and just let it heal. It took me about 4 months to go back to work. My first accident I actually t-boned a car at like 20 mph he failed to yield left turn and I had a 2015 DRZ with MRD Exhaust, jet kit and air box mod, I got thrown over the car, my knees hit the bar and cracked the handlebar bracket. It only had 5k or 6k miles on it and ended up totaling it. I wish I could get back my old drz. I’ve had 3 of them but I have an emotional attachment to it. I should have never totaled it. But I just live with it now. The 2nd drz I had it had a lot of work done, including a bore and stroke kit, kick starter, air filter, MRD EVERYTHING you could do to it. I sold that and then my 3rd and LAST drz ever, it was a 2019 with the same MRD, JetKit, and air box mod. I sold that, I told myself I will never own another drz I’m tired of the carbs. I’m just gonna go with KTM or Husky
I was on the dirt and had a nasty wreck as well. Wrecked a KDX 220 and broke my shoulder, 10 ribs, and punctured a lung. My rib went into my lung fucking it up pretty bad. Was riding with someone and caused him to wreck. He had to split second react and choose to hit my bike over me thing over the bars landing on my bike. I don't remember anything from a few days before until very brief moments in the ambulance and the first day in the hospital.

Damnit Dan!! All imma say is get a four wheeler like a 400ex and wheelie tf out of it learn that footbrake on it then when u jump on the DRZ it’s no difference other then thumb throttle to twist throttle and ur sideways balance but u figure that out quick

Was driving about 70km/h on my vfr when i had to make an emergancy stop but there was a tall speedbump in the way. First crash i ever had haha. Last thing i remember from then was thinking "oh fuck speedbump o fuck speedbump". Went over the forks, made a flip together with the bike, but somehow its only fenders, sliders and clutch cover that was damaged. Rode it home, no injuries. All contact points on my gear were competely fucked, so i's say i'm happy i wear my gear haha.

You can send your helmet to SHOEI to see if it is safe to wear again. Did that when I wrecked dirt biking and most of the time will fail but it doesn't hurt to try. It seems like it didn't make a major impact so probably is still safe to wear

In 2019 I had a very similar injury, I was learning to ride and I was making a left turn but didn't see a patch of gravel, went right over it back tire spun, me being new at the time I panicked and whisky throttled that shit right into a ditch, shattered my ankle, dislocated it, ruptured some ligaments and fractured my shin. I was on crutches for 3 god damn months that shit sucked so I know exactly how you feel but it didn't stop me from riding when I was healed up

Yea be very careful don't rush. It's still pretty fragile. I shattered my ankle & broke my fibula in 2 so my injury was worse but I know wat ur going through so don't rush as much as it feels good to walk be patient cuz ur not a patient person lol

Dan, I don’t know about shoei, but a lot of helmet manufacturers offer an inspection service. Might be able to keep running that one if you want. Btw, I’ve wrecked my drz a bunch, they hold up well lol
When i spent $900 or whatever ungodly amount on my Shoei, the rep made a big point to explain that you can always send the helmet in to them after a wreck to have it inspected and possibly refreshed? Not entirely sure what they would be able to fix, but they can for sure inspect it.
