I'm a soldier in the indian army and i have been following ur channel for many months. Thank you for recalling my days in the convoy in the same road u took.
Let me clear who are confused for military trucks. This road to kargil specially built for military vehicles movement by Border road organisation and EME, a branch of indian army. There are approximately 100-150 trucks with 2 army men in each. These trucks are use for logistics of daily vegetables, milk , ration, grocery, suppliment for personal and their families who deployed in region. These are also use by EME for construction purpose like building bridges and engeneering things. I remember when there was landslide on Jammu highway, my father's unit feed thousands people who were stucked in that blockage and i was there in army residential area near chenab river .
@@TheDivineQuarks-gf8gq not at all... There are 100 times more civil trucks movement on the highway of Jammu & Kashmir without those trucks logistics would suck and there's no railway in Kashmir so trucks are heavily used for logistics
My father was born and grew up in India and often used to talk about the summers spent on the houseboats. Like many European families they used to go up to the lakes to escape the heat at lower altitudes. Another great video. 🙂🙂
@@ka0166That was in the 1930s. My grandmother was also born in India, she was the daughter of an Irish farming family who emigrated there. She lived in India for most of her life. When she was about 65 she came to the U.K. to live with my aunt but disliked it so much she returned to India for another 10 years.
I've always wondered it must have been like leaving India and finding yourself in Macclesfield or Slough, with the rain and the soot etc. It must have been a huge come-down. Off the top of my head Joanna Lumley was born in Kashmir but moved to the UK at an early age.
@@AshleyPomeroyWell those people stole lot of money from India. Posting to India was a dream job for many colonizers because that meant that they would come back with a lot of plunder. So who cares what they felt. They probably stole enough for a couple of generations and build estates in Britain. Anyway they were worse than the worst of N*zis in Germany and their plunder and crimes against humanity should be exposed to the world.
Congratulations my girl! You have done such an amazing job. I hadn't seen the beautiful landscape of India until now! Have safety trips in your life! Greetings from Athens Greece 🇬🇷!!!
Thanks for not falling into Western media propaganda, they only shows the worst parts, but in reality Northeast India, Northern India and South India are no less to heaven. Greetings to Greece🇬🇷

I went to do a job for an Indian family, here in WA, all I can remember is the kindness of the mom coming out every day with a tray of chai tea cups and Madeleine cookies; even the workers would have a cup of tea. Very nice people!
Hey, I am indian so i can say this, when ever some construction or some work is going on in our houses or our properties, we give tea and lunch to all our workers and their supervisors. Its a thing, we do.
It's pretty common in India to offer food or tea to whoever is present in the house at that time of the day... We offer food and snacks even to the maid who work in the house. Bcoz many of them work long hours so we don't know if they got chance to eat food.. So we just offer them

@capteagle9 Indeed they are! With special training for motorsports like MotoGP, Isle of Man TT, Dirt bike n stuffs. Can't deny that but who trains us to ride bikes like that here in India? So practically, Yes we're not as best as MotoGP racers but We're damn good as born riders and I'm proud of that.
Your adventures in northern India have been absolutely incredible to watch, Noraly! I'm at a loss of words here...really remarkable terrain and scenery. Like very few other places elsewhere. Thank you for showing us this region with your very skillful camera work and always upbeat narration. I feel truly lucky to be able to experience this part of the world through your eyes.

What a beautiful country, INDIA! As a Kashmiri, my thanks to the Indian army for working in such harsh conditions. My eyes were tearing up seeing my ancestor land and the beautiful mountains.
My Father used to be a military truck driver for 15 years, he was deployed throughout India and served in kashmir as well. I am so proud while seeing your video, how scary the moutains and passes are. Thanks for visiting
I am fascinated by this series in India, its magical landscapes that make the soul fall in love, thank you Noraly for taking your trips to a level of 1000/1000. Take care of yourself
Did anyone noticed the quality of roads?? And thn people asks how modi wins all the election every time,in congress era we didnt have rcc roads in the well developed city areas, this is why modiji will keep coming back
You know India has 2 nuclear power and peaceful neighbours - China and Pakistan, that's so much peace, that's why we need so much military there in Kashmir.
India is truly a beautiful country! Your morning started in nice weather and then across a congested mountain pass with views that are just unreal! The houseboat is a great place to stay and the lake tour was very peaceful and very relaxing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Ride safe Noraly!
I have ridden motorcycles for 55 years,I subscribed to your channel during your Argentina to Alaska adventure because of the motorcycle but became more interested in the way you tell your story with your videos. The photography and the way you interact with the local people is amazing, you even got to go to a wedding with complete strangers who will be friends for life now. Well done Noraly well done. I look forward to your adventure
What a land of extremes ! The mountains, the roads, the driving, the elaborate carved wood decor, the floating gardens & markets. Incredible! All i hear is that classic Led Zeppelin tune watching this episode
The adrenaline of the convoy and cliff side ride. Paired with the calm of the houseboat and lake market. You never fail to surprise us with your amazing content Noraly.
That ride was nerve wracking to watch but Noraly is so calm and collected. The workmanship of the wood carvings including even the ceilings was amazing! Her adventures are simply amazing!!
Hello from the UK. Wow, what a beautiful country, such a diversity in terrain and climate. Your riding skills are fantastic. You had no problem overtaking by the cliff edge. You made it look so easy. I totally admire how you go out alone and your respect for the local culture. The new Himilayan looks like a great machine, I can't wait to test ride one. Love your channel and content.
I was there on the Lake, in a houseboat just like that in the early 1980's. Your incredible video brought tears to my eyes - as when people ask me, where in the world i would like to revisit - Srinagar is my response! Your drive in was nerve wracking - a salute to your courage and skills!
Hi again, once again thank you for reliving memories of the road to srinagar via zoji la. These army convoys are daily administrative occurrence of to and fro moves comprising troops, ordnance and supplies on fixed timings. These army convoys can be as small as 50 vehicles to 500 vehicles on a given day depending.
Having "traveled" with Itchy Boots for several years, I think this ride made me almost as nervous as her early travels in Bolivia when she had to decide whether or not to cross the stream crossing the road. And the view over Noraly's left shoulder at 12:28 that showed all the "fill" pushed over the side to make the road nearly took my breath away. Can't imagine the struggling young woman I watched in Southeast Asia years ago would make this journey with such confidence and boldness.
I love the calm patient way you navigated past the very long military convoy.....the conditions looked treacherous and it must be very hard for the construction workers as they build the road there !!! The house boats were incredible !!!!
Yep thats Noraly, makes the difficult route seem more effortless. One thing that sets her apart from so many others is she adds no words in an attempt to increase the dramatic effect navigating around the convoy. She sets up the cinematography and lets it do the talking. Peace!
I am a home body, and not a traveler. So I am seeing the world through Noraly eyes!!! Everything is spectacular, but India is really beautiful!! Happy that you make these videos so I can see what the rest of the world is like. Much love!
Wow. India is breathtaking. I've been to the south and the northern states but could never make it beyond Delhi in the North. Hopefully, I'll get to visit again someday and explore these remaining bits.

Excellent choice of background music for the long time riding with and past the military convoy. It conveys a sense of concentration mixed with determination and tension that kept the video interesting. And then you let the music build to another level when the rain began -- such artistry. It was such as surprise and relief for you to end up at a magnificent houseboat. I think this ranks amongst some of your best videos!
That convoy - holy wow, and what in the world?! I also kept forgetting to enjoy the amazing mountain views because I was so busy watching traffic. The decorative wood inlay on the houseboat - gorgeous! The floating market - I've seen photos and even some video of these. But seeing it in this video, I feel that I am in the boat with you, marveling at the scene. That has never happened with photos or commercial videos.
Overtaking of that military convoy provided maybe more adrenaline than a full rally stage. The mystic morning atmosphere on Leh Lake was breathtaking. It was probably reward for the preceeding mountain pass / convoy adventure.
Looks like a regiment is going there with supplies. I have seen a long convoy too near Bangladesh border it was such a proud and goosebumps moment for me going side by side with the Indian army convoy.
It's fun to see Noraly re-visiting India now. She's so much more confident in travelling and so much better of a rider I think she's seeing more things now because she's not as worried about things as she was years ago.
I am an Indian. So, I can express my views without any prejudice. House boats are famous in Kashmir, as well as in Kerala (a South Indian state), As a nature lover and an envrionment conscious person, I really dislike houseboats. Human waste from restroom directly drops into the Dal Lake in Srinagar. In Kerala also, the same story. But I need to register the tireless work and sacrifice of Indian army up there in Kashmir, protecting our nation since 1947, from non-stop intrusion and terrorism. They are amazing! No amount of words can express the gratitude of patriotic Indians.
@@Jammie.james_1965That's why sir. We consider only Indian Army as our true hero. So many heroes have come in cinema, but Indian Army's fan following is on a different level. Love and respect sir.

What a beautiful destination this turned out to be. I’m sure you weren’t able to see the beauty of your trip through the truck maze, until you edited your footage but it was so amazing. The houseboats and floating markets were so unique. Really enjoyed the video!
Because the asphalt road doesn't withstand the harsh winter with rain and never ending landslides. They have to re do it every year and being a remote location it is difficult. So i think they are trying the other options.
I was thinking, man 'o man , that's a lot of pavers. And it is ! Think of how many truckloads of pavers to do all that. It's good work, too. That BRO has got it goin' on. You would never see a mountain road laid with pavers here in Colorado.
@@bigcity2085 Pavers are used extensively in southern Africa and cover vast distances and entire cities. We call them African Legos because they are easy to lay by unskilled labour and fit together very well.

2018 I had a very similar experience with a huge long convoy of military vehicles going to Srinagar from Jammu…some had soldiers with guns laying on sandbags on top of the cab…also spotted military men with guns here and there on top of the cliffs…well over 100 vehicles. I was in a shared taxi. Amazing landscape…loved the houseboat experience..like a trip back in time and you are so well taken care of. Srinagar has a magical atmosphere…those regular calls to prayer definitely enhance the experience. Another great episode Noraly!
What a treacherous ride! Especially when it started raining. I was holding my breath on some of this curves. But you are obviously an excellent motorcyclist. Please stay safe. 🙏

It's clear you are so excited at the opportunity to return to India AND on this particular bike to fully 'do it justice' in terms of the spectacular scenery, the people etc etc which you've made plain you didn't feel you had done in season 1. Well, you've certainly done that with this series, we're enthralled! Look forward to your summary of the bike's performance. Happy riding and stay safe
Your focus is astounding .. that road? that traffic? that drop? you are unfazed it seems while riding proficiently. You show so much of real life on your way. Breath taking house boat. Quite a way to live. So grateful.
I’m amazed by your riding skills in these heavily populated areas and towns. That road and the convoy was an adventure in itself, but not one I would want to do. Unfortunate you couldn’t enjoy those beautiful Mountain View’s, but thank you for letting us see them. Loved the houseboat and it’s beautiful wood carvings. Stay safe Noraly always.
Hey Noraly, such beautiful views. I didn't think the Military convoy was ever going to end. The carvings in the boat houses are unbelievable; I can't image the time it takes to do them. Prayers Flying for safe travels
Great footage of the ZojiLa. The reason for the heavy military presence is that the road you biked near Kargil was the scene of heavy fighting in 1999 between India and Pakistan. That road was interdicted by artillery fire directed by Pakistani troops and observers on the northern heights. Great biking on those roads without guard rails, weaving in and out of the convoy!
The dynamic, the width in your episodes, amazing! Like here, from narrow mountain roads, gosh I dare not look over the edge of those steeps on the valley-side of the roads, and then you are down to some super harmonic floating little boat just like that! Very inspiring shootings and stories as always! Happy riding, Noraly!
So while you were dodging army trucks in both directions I was looking at the incredible scenery unfolding along the way. That mountain road was a test of your riding skills and patience. The motorcycle is certainly up to the harsh conditions. Thank you for showing us the houseboats and the community surrounding the lake. Amazing! Safe travels.
I am from India so I would like to say you can overtake military convoys in a normal day if the road have enough room to pass except if there is an emergency that they need to move quickly....our army is very friendly ❤❤❤
Those mountain passes are simply epic!!! The views, the road, the drop offs, the weather, the traffic ..... what an experience that must be to ride through 😲
Lovely intro music starting at 1:17 draws me in. Noraly, even though I have seen you ride crazy places, the way you effortlessly (seemingly) navigated the high adventure mountain roads passing the endless military convoy was amazing and kept me on edge of seat. A vivid reminder of your advanced riding skill. Seeing the switchbacks on side of mountain in the distance were almost surreal. Then you change scenes totally and take us on an amazing water market tour and showing craftsmanship of the boat houses. I hope you enjoyed that bath and it had hot water. Thank you Noraly for another stunning IB MASTERPIECE as well as the continuing education. Peace! ❤❤❤, and God Bless you.

Since I was a boy I knew about Kashmir through Indian movies shown in our country. Lots of them featured scenes and landscapes from Kashmir. As a matter of fact as a boy I saw the movie " Kashmir ki Kali" ( Flower of Kashmir) with Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore. Now I am 68 and it still is beautiful. However, this time Noraly is the " Kashnir ki Kali !" Thanks for the ride & adventure. Hundreds of thousands of us are with you. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

Watching this just after Halloween here in the states. This was the scariest thing I’ve watched all season. Over taking those trucks on those roads and the steep drops, no guardrails, and blind corners… *yikes* you must have nerves of steel. Great Video, and I was so happy to see you safely at the house boat with warm food. Rain and snow and amazing views such a pretty place to stay. it looks totally worth it. 😊
I live in America. The reason I love your videos is because you show us so many different, sometimes strange but always beautiful places and wonderful people; and you never make your adventures much about yourself, or your suffering and endurance. I motorcycle in south Louisiana and often struggle to find even a usable public restroom or other accommodations. But now I laugh when others in my country complain about their hardships because you are showing how beautiful the world is and how little it takes for others to be very happy. Perhaps someday we will see a compilation of some of your experiences on the big screen.
I just realised that Noraly's videos remind me of the National Geographic magazine of old, before they started to turn towards social and medical issues: We get to see all sorts of countries and landscapes and meet the people and their culture. I was a member of NGS for many years until rather recently, when I no longer wanted to support the new direction of it. This is a breath of fresh air - thanks Noraly!
Yep just like many things money gets in the way of real documentary. Quit watching/reading NG decades ago due to the growing injected narrative. Noraly is beholden to no one which is why there are so many comments saying "better than NATGEO", "better than anything on media/TV". We are so fortunate to be watching IB. Peace!
@@thomasmaughan4798 Well, they didn't stop overnight, there has been a slow transformation over at least a decade but in the end I just could not support the NGS any more. Pity, I miss it as it once was.

All roads of kashmir are overloaded because of large convoys moving each day from one camp to another especially the national highway.
@@TheDivineQuarks-gf8gq not at all... There are 100 times more civil trucks movement on the highway of Jammu & Kashmir without those trucks logistics would suck and there's no railway in Kashmir so trucks are heavily used for logistics

Once again, it's a privilege being on your back seat Noraly. Beautiful, unique countryside and people.
The river flowing next to you is Indus river, from where the word INDIA came from... In Hindi it's called Sindhu❤
sanskrit= sindhu, persian = hindu, greek=indu. Thus 🇮🇳
@@udaykamal4621 Incorrect Reply- Persian/Iranians refer India as Hend, Greek mention India as Indoi and Chinese People refer India as Yindu.
@@udaykamal4621 persians ne hindu word nahi diya bhai hindu word to hamare vedo me hi mentioned hai fir ye persians ne kaha se diya
Yes our Army is very friendly with nice people ❤❤ but when its a war enemy run in another direction😂. Love our Army
Nora, you are an inspiration. I have been riding motorcycles for nearly a quarter century, and after watching your videos for many years, I have made up my mind to visit the Himalayas on my motorcycle. Stay blessed.
That return to India was such a perfect decision of you 😊. It’s so much fun to watch. I do enjoy every minute. 😊🙏
In India you live like in a fairy tale, going from one chapter to another. Beautiful! =)
Kinda of a nailbiting trip to get to the mountain pass between that HUGE army comboy to get to that beautiful & peaceful lake. The floating houses beautifully decorated.
GO ITCHY BOOTS, GO ... 🏍🏍🏍
Srinigar is such a beautiful and unique place, with its own micro-climate, being conveniently placed between two high-sided mountain ranges. You are very lucky to be seeing it, and we are very lucky you took cameras along. Thank you. ❤
One of my friends was from the Indian Air Force and his last posting was in Kashmir. One thing about riding beside the Indian Army is if anything could have happened bad to you the Indian Army will come to your aid. Jai Hind and safe journey Ms.Noraly.🇮🇳
Love love love this travel day and your night and morning in the lake house! I'm at a loss for words - as so many of us have said, we are being exposed to places and things we would have never known about or seen in our lifetimes!! Noraly, you are absolutely the best!!!
So many years I have spent as an army officer, multiple tenures. These pictures remind me of my good days there.
However, this time Noraly is the " Kashnir ki Kali !"
Thanks for the ride & adventure.
Hundreds of thousands of us are with you.
Trinidad & Tobago.
West Indies.
Sitting here in my living room in LA and watching you ride across my country makes me so nostalgic. I wish you have the best time riding across India and may I say that I’m glad that RE picked you as the ambassador for the new Himalayan 450, you and Basanti 2.0 are perfect for each other 👍🏻
It's amazing how you never use you nerves in the chaotic riding conditions in India. You're realy on of a kind.🥇
Kashmir … what a fascinating place!
Just beautiful !
The Himalayan mountains just captivate me
The tenacity of the Indian people is remarkable
Que hermoso lugar Kashmir y que caótica la ruta pero el paisaje y sus montañas insuperables; que hermosa la madera tallada y esas alfombras; cariños de una Chilena que te admira de ❤.
Yea her treks have been a real eye opener for me. Really puts life into perspective. I am a changed person because of IB. PA USA. Peace!

I had a similar problem with Smithsonian Magazine over 30 years ago. They used to carry longish articles full of detail. But no more.
Welcome to India. I'm from Assam, IND.
Better late than never. Love your beautiful ride to Srinagar, Kashmir. No matter what you encounter (military convoy) you skillfully handle the situation. Amazing house boat and floating market. Thank you for taking along on your local discoveries.
That's was some military convoy negotiating those mountains. People are so colorfully dressed and so nice to see wood carving is still alive 🙂 NZ
They're transporting winter supplies for higher altitude army posts
The emotions of 140 crore people are attached with the Indian Army.💖🇮🇳 Jai Hind🫡
Loved this even though you kept me wanting to take some nerve pills….you amaze me driving through those mountains passing the military convoy….all I could say was….”don’t pass Noraly”. Wow, tremendous driving….I feel soooo proud of you being a woman….you are tops….
But why are you people scared of the Indian millitary convoy? don't you guys realise that If It wasn't for the Army? this trip of Kashmir she's doing wouldn't of ever happened?
Noraly, I had to keep reminding myself to breathe as you were passing those big trucks in that endless convoy. Yikes! But the morning boat ride on the lake with all the beautifully decorated buildings were a wonderful counter point on this adventure. Enjoy
These are the convoys carrying winter food supplies for the harsh upcoming winter
@@SevenplusShakya good to know! Thanks for sharing what was happening.
