  • UPDATE (7/21/2024)
    I was told the software has gone through some updates that have changed the interface. Also, Starlink has come out with a newer generation of the products. This video is out dated but gives you a basic idea on how I have everything setup. If you need help, reach out to Ubiquiti customer support. I personally can't help you troubleshoot your setup. Thanks for watching!
    This video is to demonstrate my specific setup. For your location, you may run into your own challenges.
    We have multiple buildings on the property and we needed our Starlink internet to reach another house 1000ft away. We finally found the solution after months of testing.
    Here are the products I used for my setup:
    Starlink Internet and ethernet adapter can be found on their website. www.starlink.com/
    Ethernet Adapter For Macbook:
    amzn.to/3QYJQVQ
    Roof Mount For Wifi Extender:
    amzn.to/3ASPwLx
    Both Wifi Extenders - Litebeam M5
    amzn.to/3CTE43V
    Ethernet Cables (Note: Pick the length) You'll need 2 short ones for indoors and 2 long ones for outdoors.
    amzn.to/3QYzd5p
    Wifi Router For 2nd Location:
    amzn.to/3HjEwd5

    I've probably watched a couple thousand UA-cam videos, and I don't think I've ever commented on one.
    Thank You, this worked perfect and was exactly what I needed! This was used to bring internet to my detached office about 500' from my house (thru the woods). I'm getting 87mbs, and can now make wifi calls without dropping the call... Which was a constant issue for the past two years.
    I only wish I would have seen this sooner. Thanks again!

    I have the same setup for a future project and tested it about a year ago beaming the signal over a mile down to the next closest neighbors property and it worked well. There are a couple other videos how to do this but not to easy to find them. This video was easier to follow in my opinion, than some of the others being that English is your first language. Thanks

    Thank you for this very informative video!
    I'll be using this as a reference when I set up my Starlink with P2P. Do you need a seperate router for the building where the Starlink is? According to their website you have to put their router into bypass mode when you use the ethernet adapter

  • @pedroghirotti
    @pedroghirotti 7 місяців тому +1

    Thanks for the video! This has somewhat clarified somethings.
    But I think it was missing a clearer explanation of the set up on the Starlink side. My understanding is that you just connected the LiteBeam POE (power brick) directly to the Starlink Ethernet adapter, NOT putting the Starlink router on Bypass mode. Is this the case?
    I appreciate any input. I have a LiteBeam P2P set up and running for a radio internet connection, and have bought a Starlink to substitute my internet, and still in doubt about the need for a router coming out of Starlink, or having the Starlink router doing all the work without bypassing it.
    Cheers

    Site A: Starlink (WAN) → Ethernet port connected to the Site A radio (LAN).
    Site B: LAN port of the Site B radio → WAN input of the MikroTik router.
    Now, explain to me how the router retrieves the connection from the Site B radio. Should I set the port of my MikroTik router to DHCP mode?

    Hello Friend - Happy Saturday- and thanks for making this video - it has been super helpful!!!
    Do the PtP Ubiquiti dishes have to be within a certain proximity of the Starlink dish or the Mesh Router?
    We have tried to connect the ethernet adapter/mesh router to a Ubiquiti dish that is hardlined via CAT 6 cable about 300 feet away. So we are having connectivity issues to the Point A dish... in close proximity to the Starlink dish & Mesh Router it connects almost immediately -- however 300 feet away --- not working.

    • @JeffreyWismer
      @JeffreyWismer Рік тому +1

      Ok I figured out the above -- the answer from the Ubiquit forum is that YES the dish needs to be in close proximity to the Mesh Router ---so it is captured in the "net bubble" of signal strength...
      NOW.. we have a NEW new issue...
      We have set up 2 sets of Ubiquiti dishes --- First set : Point A --> B .... Second Set: Point C --> D
      We tried using a splitter to connect both dishes to the Starlink Ethernet adapter which is connected to the MESH Router ... and that DOES NOT WORK - unfortunately ....
      Are you aware of any work-around to that issue???

    • @JeffreyWismer
      @JeffreyWismer Рік тому +1

      I think I need to try to connect the two (2) sets of dishes using an ethernet switch -- I will try a 5 port gigabyte ethernet switch and see if that works

    Hello,
    I have purchased (2) Ubiquiti LBE-M5 units to transmit wi-fi between houseboats approximately 75'-100' away from each other.
    While these units may be excessive for my application and distance, I would like to use them if possible.
    For reference: my Wi-Fi source on my Houseboat will be Starlink using the wi-fi adapter and on the other end (2nd Houseboat) an Amplify Mesh System.
    I have a few set up questions: Output Power Setting, Frequency Setting and should they point directly at each other of offset a bit?
    Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

      Where you have this setup you need to ensure that the 2 Ubiquiti radios are line of site to each other. Preferably located outside and confirm they are indeed connected to each other. RF doesn't like to travel that well through metal (assuming the shop door is metal and 1 of your radios is located inside?) Is it possible to have a setup where a starlink dish would be at one location, and then beam that signal by dish to a home, and then connect a second home perhaps by CAT 5 or some other method t4hat is about 300 feet away from the first home. In other words have an off site Starlink, sending the signal to two different homes.

    • @MrTylerDIREC
      @MrTylerDIREC 2 місяці тому

      Yes this is possible as long as house A or B (or both) can see via line of site to where the offsite Starlink dish is located. Look into unifi device bridge pro and some routers or items from their UISP line for Point to Multi-Point

  • @moneff

    When you plug in the ethernet cable to the laptop, for the initial setup, do you plug it out after you complete the setup? I mean, will the starlink router transmit this signal, or my laptop would always have to be plugged with ethernet cable?

    • @DJ.Sparks.Studio
      @DJ.Sparks.Studio  Рік тому
