  • If Holden had survived, this fire-breathing V8 ute would have been released around now priced under $80K! 👉 Full Review: www.carsales.com.au/editorial...
    HSV - or Holden Special Vehicles - made its name developing high-performance Commodore V8s.
    But when that business ended in 2017, it switched to its own version of the Holden Colorado ute, dubbed the SportsCat.
    The one thing the SportsCat lacked was a powerful engine, something HSV intended to address with this V8. But Holden’s demise signalled the end of the Colorado, the SportsCat and HSV’s V8 project.
    This road-registered development car is proof of how close the concept got to production. We’ve driven it and we’re spewing it’s not on sale!

    • @sp6450
      @sp6450 2 роки тому

      Nope, if it was released, it would sell abysmally. No respectable "Tradie" who is conscious of his bottom line/construction worker or business owner is looking to purchase a 79k Ute with a V8 when you can get something far cheaper and accomplish the same work, Utes are all about practicality and as the name describes, "utility". Only in America would it sell a significant amount to make it a profitable product and its only because America is wealthier and has a gigantic population compared to Australia, also consider the fact Americans pay significantly less for petrol compared to Aussies, our current average around 1.80 per liter where as Americans average around 90 cents per liter. And if you're gonna say it's not directed towards the working class but more towards a "driver", well, that's the thing, we just don't have as many of those types of people who would rather spend 79k on a Ute vs the copious foreign alternatives. If you're feeling my statement is wrong, just look at the current line up of Ute's on offer and look at statistics of how many top tier versions are sold vs lower tier. Lower tier models are what every company buys for their fleets, it is the bread and butter for many manufacturers and the sensible option for any company.

      If Holden had manufactured it and manufactured it here. then there may have been an incentive for GM to hang on a little but I very much doubt it would have made any difference.

If we didn't have to do that, we'd pay only on the most part the conversion rate plus shipping. Apparently not much of the world is right sided drivers hence alot of the inflated costs on many cars, especially these things that are converted locally.
      Downside to aligning with the rest of the world is the huge tax funding required for road signs and roads across the country to be changed not to mention how many years it would take to change habits.

    80K ???
    Tell him he's dreaming!!
    I don't see 80k there at all.
    Think what you could buy from Europe.
    Better built more refined higher performance vehicles.
