  • Rockhounding in Wendover is always a treat. It was a nice windy cold day but the company was fantastic. The Mexican place went out of business and it was replaced by an Indian buffet. Searched for new locations for agate and jasper this time. Well worth the day trip.

Thanks for the great video. I have grown up roughly half my life or more in West Wendover. Most of my life I have explored quite extensively. During these adventures I have gone agate hunting around the same area. On two different occasions while agate hunting I have found two massive pieces of agate. One of which I found with my wife and still have. We haven't decided what to do with it just yet. Thanks again for the great watch and good memories that were brought up from the depths of my memory heh 😁👍

Great Videos... I'm really wanting to bring the family out to the Utah area, and your videos give me a chance to do a little exploring remotely and lots of daydreaming. It'd be a blast to go check out some of these spots and do some rock hounding with someone like you that's familiar with the area. Thanks for sharing!

    Wow, REALLY great video, Cary!
You are so good about giving directions and explaining what is available at the location.
The jasper/agate veins at this locale are just crazy.
    Looking forward to visiting soon.

Except in the beginning of the video where he turns off at the building?? Doesn't say how to get to the building or what exit he took to get to the building? Except in the beginning of the video where he turns off at the building?

Hi Cary, The Mexican Restaurant you reference has been relocated in town. It's a blue building on the Utah side just across the railroad tracks and south of the Wendover Nugget. Same great family; same great food. Cash only.

You said in the beginning of the video you only found two left gloves then five minutes in I can see why. Somewhere in the Utah desert spread far away from each other are two right gloves maybe. Great video, thank you.

What exit am I to take to find the buildings you speak of. New to this and that part of the world. But would love love love to just take a day ride and look at Mother Nature... if possible please share with me a rout to take. I think it would be a beautiful ride for my wife as well. This weekend is a special date for us and with so much scary drama in the world what better place to go to feel safe and free. Thanks for the video. Loved it

Around 7:00; I’m finding the same to be true. When you’re at a super rich location like this, you really need to be choosy, otherwise you end up with heavy ass bucket(s) and a way more mediocre material at home than you ever want to tumble and polish.

I am a little confused. You say you are at a second spot. The drone footage is of the first spot, or the video with your son. What different road did you take to get to this second spot?

At 15:08 in the video, what is that bluish-green piece of stone to the left of your finger? Jasper? You didn't say anything about it .... In fact, you didn't even seem to recognize that it was there.

The Bible says: Thou shalt not steal. Perhaps those lands are not yours. You must ask the owners for permission to enter their property and extract wealth. If it is not your land, and if you do not have permits, then you must go and return the stones to their original old place.

The land he is on is public land (BLM). The government allows amateur rockhounds to take rocks/minerals for their own use, so he was doing everything legally. Lots of BLM land in the western U.S. which makes it a good place to collect. You are totally right about asking permission if it's private property.
