The couplings are actually reused from hornby's Clockwork Thomas and Friends range I am not talking about The Clockwork engines that run on ho tracks I'm talking about The Clockwork engines that run on a special plastic track and have unique couplers
Ever since I saw this set on UA-cam when I was a kid, I thought it was the weirdest train set Hornby made. Why did Disney Pixar license it to a UK company that doesn't distribute its stock in America? (Hornby didn't distribute their British trains in America widely until 2016-ish) There's also no complete working rods, couplers that only work with itself, and there was never an expansion pack with a tender, boxcar, and other coach. And to top it all off, your example has a £35 price tag (The equivalent of $70 USD in today's money) I'm glad you actually bought this so other people can be informed by how bad quality it is!
I have this and paired the old Triang Davy Crockett tender along with the engine and connected them using a staple (also removed the coupler from the engine). I got the idea from some other UA-camr and I think it looks great. I had the same issue with the cab falling off when I picked it up too though!
When I first saw this set on InterCity82's channel back in the day, I was actually surprised because at the time, no one had ever really had the courage to recreate the iconic train from the opening of the movie. But looking at the set now, I can definitely see what's wrong with it. Everything is just so...weirdly designed... Welp, Hornby's off my list.
It really sucks because this idea really had the potential for a pretty cool train set. I loved that engine from the Toy Story 3 movie and it’s a huge shame Hornby completely screwed it up… Plus the fact they didn’t even do the SIDE RODS right. This is a sad strange little train. (And here we thought the older Bachman 4-4-0’s were rough. At least those work better than THIS.)
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
I’m suprised this was a hornby set, the couplings where enough then the no tender, then parts falling and chipping off made me doubt this was a hornby set.
I'm surprised the leading wheels for the loco are on the rails for ya. That loco is known for its leading wheels to derail frequently due to how light the pony truck and wheels are. Mine was that case.
This was my first train set when I first got in the hobby in what, 2011? I still have the loco’s body which I’m going to adapt to fit a new chassis and take a tender, but I can assure you that Hornby have done far worse train sets than this, take a look at those limited edition Beatles train packs they’ve been tossing out recently
i really had high hopes for this one but god its bad.... also the tront bogey doesnt sway only rotates which is causing most of the issues with the mechanism
In a way this is cool but the quality of this is abysmal. That loco looks so wrong without the tender and those couplers are a joke! Also don’t use those Hornby controllers, they don’t work well and can damage some motors… overall I’ve seen much better from almost every other manufacturer… not to say all Hornby stuff is bad though! as Sam’sTrains says, when Hornby get something right, they really get it right, but when Hornby get something wrong, they really get it wrong…
I don't know what bothers me more: the coupling system or the lack of a tender
All of the above.
Lack of tender for me, you could probably swap couplers but you can't magically make a tender appear
Lack of a tender for me
Both 😭😭
it’s trying to be movie accurate,

You mean Hornby's trains are stocked in many American hobby stores nowadays?
No tender should be considered a crime.😢
They modelled the train as it appeared in the movie. Blame Pixar.
@@JBofBrisbaneit had a tender in the movie
Not even the Lego version of the toy story train has no tender
@@ThompsonSteamtrain yeah that doesn’t have a tender either :(
Now let's see Sam's Trains rate this
Years ago, I bought the locomotive seperatly just to see what it was like, didn't stay in one piece for long.
"Too much weight for you" in that tone killed me 😂
That’s just terrible. I might just be worse than those $450 Lionel train sets with repurposed Tyco rolling stock. Shame. (Love your content btw)

Hornby's circling the drain. Disney aint that far behind it🙄 "You do it so we don't have to."
The lack of quality on this set is just so disappointing which is a shame as its so stunning in the movie

The no tender scares me the most. I know it should be “movie accurate” but the movie should’ve had a tender in the first place lmao
Those couplers remind me of the blade couplers on Marx O guage trains; wonder why Hornby thought they were a good idea.
I’m suprised this was a hornby set, the couplings where enough then the no tender, then parts falling and chipping off made me doubt this was a hornby set.
I'm so surprised they didn't bother release it in the US nor did they make an expansion pack with a tender and additional Rolling Stock
The only good thing you can say about the set is that it was featured in the IRL Toy Story 3 remake.
Good job! I love toy story trains
imagine Sam’sTrains ripping this to shreds
Is he shredded?

Looks like Hornby tried to copy Lego's Toy Story 3 train
The lack of a tender really bugs me honestly ,even the lego version had a tender
I used to watch that when i was 5 years old
Idc if this is the worst set. this was my first HO set and I love it
If the canyon background was made of fabric cloth instead of paper, it would have been more realistic, and less fragile.
Haven’t seen this channel in a while when I didn’t have an account
Finding Ashima 46:08
😮I am a about to order my hornby toy story 3 train set
i really had high hopes for this one but god its bad....

I didnt know buzz and woody come off.
One of the sets of all time
Sir Topham Hat had too much to drink

Why is woody on the smokestack?
It’s broken and I just put it there
Se parece el tren del juego llamado Rail Maze 2
its missing the tender to.
Where is the tender
I'm so frustrated! There's no tender!
definately would be more satisfying to custom your own engine and carriages from better quality parts, this is barely functional
It’s horrible because there’s no tender.
Let's just say Lionel's version of the TS3 Train is better
❤❤❤❤
I could replicate this train with normal Bachmann Old West HO scale engine and cars better than this set did!
Or even with a 3D printer!
Bachmann's Carolwood Pacific set does a pretty good job...
Where’s its tender
Hornby was probably lazy to add a tender
I'll bet he regrets spending his hard earned money on that piece of junk..
Nice
👍
Hornby makes two things anymore, cheap trash and over priced junk.
Sorry not Sorry (No offense to Dublo though)
I don't know why it's the worst, i remember seen this one on UA-cam when i was a kid
O😅
8:06 you just made three foamers mad
I understand that was an accident I'm more or so joking around
