Interesting video about Shirley Jackson. I knew some background information about her, but learned a lot more from your video. I know that The Lottery is a bit graphic and ironic in its nature, but to ban it and cancel your subscription of The New Yorker over it is a bit over the top. It seems to take the nature of a Raymond Carver novel in which things can get outlandish, but the absurdity is what Jackson is trying to get at. It was really interesting to hear about how she did not believe in ghosts and it is especially odd, because of her interests in witchcraft. I definitely need to read more of her short stories. I would like to make some requests for Five Bookish Facts. Let's pick Raymond Carver as one and I would also like to request that you do Franz Kafka, Sylvia Plath, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Robert Cormier, Anne Sexton, Claude McKay, James Joyce, Hans Christian Andersen, and I will leave it at that for now.
