saul is everything in poetry today. everything that inspires, me at least. i only wish he did more. but hes already saving a sadly dying art. what more can he do? much more hopefully. he has a gift to make u listen to his words and come out understanding urself better. and we desperately need more of that. especially men. they need a role model, who better?
I can't imagine how much emotion this must provoke in person, it was inspiring enough just watching it on a computer. That was amazing, I have to read this whole poem.
I like this part: " and then, a feeling. Almost as if nothing were ever bound to repeat itself again. As if history had been as masterfully created as the great pyramids and any attempt to reconstruct or relive any given moment would have to stem from an understanding of how the pyramids were built from the TOP DOWN. and if one could understand such majesty one would also understand that kisses hold codes for unlocking new portals and that pyramids were first made of flesh "

Saul Williams is on a level that artists should aspire to exist on. It's a shame that such a brilliant mind is drowned out with such mindless and superficial nonsense.
This man is smart enough to know that intelligence is an illusion..... and that therefore he is no "smarter" than anyone else. He is certainly wiser than most though.
You do know he wars that necklace because his daughter is named Saturn, right? As for the design of his clothes, I don't see how that makes his poetry any less good, any less resonant to a public from where he actually came from. I don't even know if they ARE designer Clothes, nor do I find any of this related to his ejaculation habits. His poetry isn't admired because of it's verbosity, it is admired because it feels true to whoever admire him.
Go to Marine Corps boot camp to earn the right to wear the dress blue blouse. I am a big fan, Saul, but that is deeply insulting to me, for hung is one in my own house.

what a wake up call to so many parts of me, like the bits that forgot to be angry anymore or gave up trying to love.

I just watched Saul perform an excerpt last of "Said the Shotgun" last night, and it was exquisite.
Some things you just have to hear, to truly feel. Prime Example!!! Invokes so much raw emotions that would be lost if you read it yourself.
I first saw Saul when he toured with The Mars Volta at the Metro in Chicago in 2003. I agree, Saul for PRESIDENT.
