After an opening discussion on the nature and practice of integral art, the participants flowed into a series of spontaneous performances, where Saul graced us with this....

Saul Williams has several variations of this poem. All of which are incredible, but this version has to be my favorite. It's resonated with me for so many years, that I ended up tattooing his words: "Children of the night. Only some will star the sky. Only believers in death will die." in Tibetan script around my wrist. lol. His poems are too dense to be "bumper sticker" worthy and just take a line or two, but I feel those lines birthed the rest of the poem. Just my opinion of course. :)

Wow, his words are amazing, but his passion just sends it over the top. No one else can perform this at his level, he feels the words and it flows through you. I can't set how I feel to words. Nothing I can say does justice to him.

"...And flock to the treetops of the forethoughts we have forgotten. Yes, silence will be begotten of the wind. The silver eyes of the darkness are her friends. They sometimes plant forever in their dens; on the mountainsides of sometimes now and then. And, some ask me if she cries in the night; but when it is the substance of her tears that drench the days with light, shit you better hope she do..." This is a description of purity and beauty.

whats the most amazing thing about this for me is his ability to memorize the entire piece and recite it, I mean even if this was improvised in parts it would still be awe inspiring but the fact that every word he has wrote down and memorized and can recite it. Its just mind boggiling that coupled with the poem. Its just immense.

Saul's poem "Ohm" speaks to me like this has to you. His message is wordless yet we listened, for nearly 6 mins, to him speak. He is an alchemist turning breath into gold, gold we can share yet it's value in immeasurable. He has won in life a statement not said regarding many.

I believe Saul was talking about alot of things but what stood out to me was the connection to the womb and the future generations. He is trying to open up the listeners mind to what life is all about. He talks about the childs journey through the womb of his mother and how they are born out of darkness to become mothers and fathers. He attempts to show us that death does not exist. The cosmos and the universe is the womb. We are the children of the night.

Saul Williams is an AMAZING poet. He has so much talent. People say the dumbest shit on youtube comments sometimes. He's not really a rapper. he's an artist. he's being creative... are we allowed to do that now a days? or are we confined to bull shit music like p- diddy, kanye west , or that Reggaeton cult garbage that has poluted the latin community. we need more revolutionary people like him. more people who speak from the heart.

My great uncle wrote poetry and some novels he won awards for both they made a movie about one of his books and it was on Netflix they shot the movie in our town of 10,000 what’s crazy to me is the gift some people have to be able to tell such a story with so few words some people can talk for hours and you want them to shut up but some people you don’t want to stop

What I find amazing is not the fact that he is a great poet but that he recites this poem without reading anything; it's all from memory. He is one of the most underrated artists of his generation. The only reason I know of him, is because he made a music video.
