  • Donnavon Smith is a 49 year old Thyme Farmer Living in St.Elizabeth Jamaica.
Donnavon got into farming in the year 2000 after a friend encouraged him to start farming while he was employed at the Bauxite Plant in the Parish 'ALPART', Donnavon explained that because he was working on a shift system at the plant, he used the free time he had on his hands to do farming. Thyme was not the only crop he planted though, he also planted crops such as Water Melons, Cabbages, Escallions and Lettuce, however he love and passion for farming thyme lead to him focusing more on that crop, he gradually expanded the farm to now having one of the largest, if not the largest thyme farm in Jamaica.
His story in one of inspirational to Jamaica and the World.
I hope this story will help others to look into farming as a career.

If I was living in Jamaica I would have a corn 🌽🌽🌽🌽 farm and I would sell roast corn and jerk pork and a piece of coconut. Anyone want corn 🌽 and jerk pork or corn and coconut, soup 🍲 alone the wayside somewhere in the Holland bamboo 🎍 area.

Having something on the side is definitely essential especially in these times, another motivating video, I just planted a few veggies in my backyard hoping to see them germinate in a few days

Very good introduction. Wow. Yes our government, both parties, the private sector, and the hypocritical churches need to come together and devise a plan to encourage and support willing workers so others looking on can join in and move full speed with cultivation and take Jamaica out of poverty and crime.

Excellent points! Jamaica has so much potential to be number one in some many aspects, we can be the cleanest country, the most productive country, the safest country etc. But if the leaders of the country don't change their mindsets and move from the same old same old , Jamaican can never advance.

@@ShanZenZenJamaicanVibez exactly. They need also to stop taking in so many foreigners. I am here in texas just watching the vast influx of people from all over the world ripping jamaica out of the hands of the natives. It is heartrending.
