This gentleman is actually a Jamaican treasure. I did not know we these type of people on the island. I came from families of farmers various products, but this guys knowledge, understanding, and attention to detail, is unmatched by by any other farmers I’ve seen on Social media.
Proud of this guy as a Jamaican.
One more thing it sure would be good for the country to see some of Jamaican young men picking up a pitch fork or a hoe instead of the guns.

OK, where do I begin? When you watch or listen to the evening news on our major radio and TV stations, the impression sent is a Jamaica in a state of total crisis. The news often portray a sense of hopelessness - recounting the killings, the corruption, how little our dolor can purchase. then you are treated with three or so minutes of a ray of hope. Truly, hope is not lost, your program continues to highlight the possibilities- the farmer coming back to Jamaica from the land of 'almost' milk and honey to make a life and to inspire many more Jamaicans, if their story is told. Our nightly news do not carry these stories at length. Thank you Mr. Niel for giving us access, thanking you for telling your story. Thank you Irine for commitment to positivity and for allowing Jamaican to tell their stories on your platform.

Isn't it sad that we Jamaicans love negativity and will laud and applaud and give thumbs up in the hundreds to the ills told about Jamaica, yet do not care to spend any time to concentrate on the positive? We are happy to have Irena delve in the positive stories in Jamaica.

Here's a fun fact: Glendon Neil is so nice, God had to make him twice! Glendon has a twin brother named Linton who is his replica in every way: they look, walk, talk, gesticulate, and are knowledgeable and kind-hearted alike, and both have a plant nursery. Linton is in New Harbour Village in St. Catherine, Jamaica. I've visited Lilly Creek Farm and that clay that you see is beautiful on the skin. I got some the day I went years ago. I didn't have a bag and was faaaar from the car, so I removed my socks and stuffed some in! We all had a good laugh! Thank you, Irina, for this heartwarming video. Jamaica, Jah-Mek-Ya! (God made here - special!)

He is also extremely kind!! His farm is extremely cool and nice. It is my get away. Have to also mention his staff! He has a troop of kind hearted men and women who are professional and always smiling. He really cares for them, and you'll never hear him barking at them, nope. He has an open door policy, you don't need to set an appointment to see him either. Yooow he is the best!! Humble and cool!! This is a true son of Jamaica!!! 39:52 my favorite fruit, Peanut butter fruit tree. Irine please do some more videos like this!! Please. Horticulture/Agriculture all the way!!

Using leased land is a great way to start farming in Jamaica. When I found out that bauxite mining operations had established land bank reserves in St Ann for future mining I leased a few acres of fertile bottom land and seeded them with cabbages that were ready for harvesting so quickly that I had to establish marketing networks in Kingston, Montego Bay, Lucea and Sav La Mar in order to get rid of the produce that started springing out of the ground . Labour costs of the cooperative farm were handled by making the farmers involved into shareholders in the venture and dividing the profits. It was a win/win situation.
