  • It will feel slightly sticky at first. Heat it a bit more and let it absorb all the wax. Let it sit and dry for some hours and the stickyness will be gone.

I love using snoseal on my leather sheaths. It’s fairly cheap and easy to find aswell. You’ve come a long way I didn’t even recognize this as DBK. I was waiting for “Marten it’s really working Marten!”

I use this on my boots... I put them in the oven at lowest temp 170F until warm, then wipe product on with a cloth... Soaks right in... Works great in our sometimes nasty winters here in Michigan USA...

Is there a way to waterproof the inside to prevent rusting? I made a leather scabbard for my mirror polished knife, and every time I store it in there for afew hours longer than it takes to transport the knife, I get rust spots

      Keep your knife oiled.

You should try Obenauf's HD LP. It's noticeably better than SNO SEAL.

Would it not work to do the steps in reverse? Apply the wax and then apply heat? To me it would seem less tedious and seems like it would work. If anyone has tried it before, I'd love to know! I don't have wax to try it with atm or I'd try it myself.

Will it lighten back up over time if so how much time

the coating will wear over time and the sheath will get a bit lighter but that also means the coating is losing it's function. So in general if you want your sheaths maintained this way they won't turn much lighter than this.

Thank you so much. I have a bunch of swords and such, and keeping the leather on the handle grips and sheaths, is the HARDEST, the steel is easy acetone, trizact, clean rags, flitz, and (mineral oil, 3 in 1, or renaissance wax). I withheld commenting until I I got results and sno seal it the stuff. Of course the application is important. I cant say sno seal is the best, but it has produced the best results for me

+SlomoV2 just poor hot water over the sheath and in the sheath. Put the knife in and then take a pen and push around the edges of the handle trough the sheath

    does sheaths come that way.

the sheath comes as you see it at the start of the video. Some sites offer a coating for the sheaths that will darken the leather like I did on mine.

No. The ferro rod just needs wiped dry, and after a few strikes will begin producing sparks again.

you should make a stand for the blow dryer if your wife doesn't have one and make the job hands free.
