I bought my original BB Preamp over four years ago and I still love it. I got it specifically for that sound starting at 2:16, and man does it nail it. It's also great for blues. The sound is warm and smooth and doesn't have the least bit of harshness.
@@DJParkesie959II No, actually. I hardly ever buy music so anybody that comes to mind I would like to purchase a record from always slips my mind and I end up forgetting, but I do still like his playing. Maybe someday.
Stanislav Evmeshkin I would also love to know. I have searched all my @ albums and can't find it. I guess it's possible that Andy just made it up on the spot. Either way, it's great!
Every "Limited edition" pedal released by Xotic has turned into a standard one after a while (Scott Henderson RC, Allen Hinds Soul Food). I'm sure this one will too
Hahahah oh man.....his skills just make me laugh.....he’s so good that’s all I can....SO MELODIC and the incorporation or chords in solo playing just makes it that much more fantastic d
I should get this to go with My AC & RC Boosters I had a stock TS9 that was "magic", It just sounded better than all the other TS9 reissues around, the ones I heard anyway
I had the two, The difference i hear is that the AT is a little bit more compressed and its maybe more clear. I had the AT for around 2 years and replaced my original BB
Pablo Malatesta Oh, no! Embarrassing. As bad as the Harley Benton logo in Brush Script. Wish one one these pedal manufacturers would let me design graphics. I'd do it in barter.... Get in touch, people!
They're not. They're just not Offensive. I just looked through the Wampler site. Which one(s) do you like? I find them to be 'below average' for graphic design in general, and maybe 'league average' as far as the music/guitar industry is concerned. At least they seem as though they do put SOME care and thought into it, though.
I have the Faux Tape Echo v2 which I love - very purple! Simple tape reel design element in the background with vintage script don’t. It’s not groundbreaking but much better than BB (I have both)
I saw on instagram from Andy that the mini toggle affects the bridge pickup only. Either a series/split or series/parallel to go with the new traditional single in the middle I would assume.
I have looked for that info, but can't find it. Also, haven't actually heard Andy use either the new toggle for bridge or new middle pickup. I'd be curious to hear from him why he made those two changes. My understanding is that the AT100 splits the bridge automatically in position 2 (bridge + middle). Wonder if they removed that auto-split.
Isn’t that weird that the company that made the original only got close to reproduction according to what he said in the video....? Weird comment, I like Xotic stuff not dogging the product just weird comment
The size of the chassis can affect the sound, they say. But switches? Apparently so, and after doing some research, it became an interesting subject. Here's a snippet from Analogman's website (www.analogman.com/clone.htm) Stereo True Bypass 4PDT switch : Our original stereo option. We used a rare and expensive 4PDT switch for stereo true bypass. It is a little wimpy looking but works and sounds great. It is the same type switch that was used on the Way Huge and early Fulltone and Xotic pedals. It is also used on the new Maxon AD-999, the second pedal I have seen with stereo true bypass. This switch will not stand up to jumping on it or heavy stomping.
Haha...Andy is definitely someone whom once he started strumming on the guitar, you really need to pull him away hard enough in order to make him stop playing.
Dear Andy Timmons, Fredguitarist from Israel loves you too much. Especially he loves your vibrato. Please, don't ignore, give him a little piece of your attention, give him a chance. Thanks a lot.
I was listening in and feeling really happy and pleasant until he stops at 2:57 and transitions tonally into that really warm "bloom" sound effect with what looks like an F# major triad on the A string? It was fucking ridiculous as a finishing contrast. I literally swore when it happened. Ear Porn.
This is a very different pedal, so I use for different applications. The BB is less gain and used more for subtle color where the JHS is full distortion.
A LOT of LESS gain, right? Notes sound almost transparent, and might work greatly with the others gainer pedals! Very nice, indeed! But I'm still curious to hear how do this new BB works with Carl Martin Compressor. Thanks!
And how about your BD-2? The Xotic does seem to have *something* in common with the Boss pedal, which I use myself. The Xotic is brighter, but both have a kind of fuzzy undertone which I really like.
Wait... its a limited edition for 2017 that is released 2 weaks before 2017 ends? Also, how can you not replicate the original pedal? Its just electronics, just put in the same stuff in the same place. Jeez. I love Andy, and I love my xotic pedals, but this video is just weird. Its not gonna work well for the sales, tbh.
Aleksandar, over time the circuitry can "drift", changes occur that can be unique to the individual pedal. You can build one with new components but it won't sound the same as the one that has drifted. Through analyzing the circuits you can account for drift and build it into a newer version of the pedal. Like Andy said, even the particular switch made a difference. It's not all marketing hype. However, most people probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between the two pedals.
Sorry for the lo-fi video!! It's my iPhone :) Xotic had scheduled to shoot a video with me while they were in town for the Arlington Guitar Show in October. Unfortunately, my Dad passed away and I couldn't be there for the shoot. It's the best I could do on my own :) I assure you the tones you are hearing as as described. Do you really think I would mislead you guys?
Andy Timmons Guitar X-perience sorry to hear about your dad, that's sad news. Your father has a very talented son! - pedal sounds great! Could you recommend some good settings that you would run a bb at?
Ben Eller said it best, "We all know there's no such thing as the best guitar tone in the world.......and Andy Timmons has it." 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
Andy timmons + piece of
Anything= AMAZING SOUND!
My love for this man, his work (and the passion he brings to it), and tone, knows no bounds!
Wonderful pedal and playing!
Oh my goodness, so mesmerized by your playing AT!!!!!

what a tone jesus.... I´m a Marshall + Gibson lespaul guy but this guy makes me like Mesas and Strats
Still the best OD pedal I've ever played and still own.
LONG LIVE THE BB PRE!!!
Always awesome to see this guy playing.
Amazing tones from the one and only.
Sweet guitar! And awesome playing!!
Andy Timmons is such an amazing guitar player. I never have purchased any of his albums for some reason. I'm not sure why! I need to get around to it.
Did you get around to it?
@@DJParkesie959II No, actually. I hardly ever buy music so anybody that comes to mind I would like to purchase a record from always slips my mind and I end up forgetting, but I do still like his playing. Maybe someday.
Killer tone!!
Wow!!! A single coil on the middle position? Awesome!!!!
God...that tone. Surely one of the all time best.
This BB got a clear and opened light distortion than the JHS. The last one is better for solos.
what is the name of the song he is playing from 2:12???
Stanislav Evmeshkin I would also love to know. I have searched all my @ albums and can't find it. I guess it's possible that Andy just made it up on the spot. Either way, it's great!
it's amazing

wow so amazing sound

Wouldn't use anything but Xotic for my boosts, perhaps a Josh Smith version of the AC?
what a right hand technic
I should get this to go with My AC & RC Boosters
I had a stock TS9 that was "magic", It just sounded better than all the other TS9 reissues around, the ones I heard anyway
I so badly want this to play the sweet blues.
Andy, can you share the setting of the pedal please?
Would it be worth replacing my standard BB Pre? Is there a big difference between the original and Andy’s model?
I had the two, The difference i hear is that the AT is a little bit more compressed and its maybe more clear. I had the AT for around 2 years and replaced my original BB
I think the cleaner sound is better for leads than his lead channel.
COMIC SANS!!!! Arggg zero investment in graphic design.
Pablo Malatesta Oh, no! Embarrassing. As bad as the Harley Benton logo in Brush Script. Wish one one these pedal manufacturers would let me design graphics. I'd do it in barter.... Get in touch, people!
They should get some advice from Brian Wampler - his designs are great!

Simplicity is the best brother.
Does anyone know what song he's playing from 4:12 to 4:30??
Knob settings?
What is this song at 2:20?
Pick up single ? Midle
Anybody know what that humbucker is in the neck position? it sounds amazing.
Dimarzio Cruiser
Thanks Friend. Perfect strat tone, but brighter than a standard neck pickup.
@@jasonpitre1249 yes because he's using a Cruiser Bridge on the neck pickup
@@guitarvana Very nice, thank you!
Not gonna lie. I thought at 3:54 he was going into deliver us
So if I get this pedal I'm going to sound like AT? Wow. Got to buy one. Hahaha. No really I'm going to buy another pedal to add to me collection.
Xotic bb at preamp or way huge geisha overdrive.
I noticed recently that Andy has added a mini toggle and changed the middle pickup to a single coil. Anyone know what's the deal there ?
I guess its a split coil. But it can also be s9 switch, to get that tele inbetween pickups sound.
a neck on switch ? yeah that'd make sense. to get more tones out of the guitar.
I saw on instagram from Andy that the mini toggle affects the bridge pickup only. Either a series/split or series/parallel to go with the new traditional single in the middle I would assume.
Ben Thomas do you know what pickup is used in the middle? Thx

I'd be curious to hear from him why he made those two changes. My understanding is that the AT100 splits the bridge automatically in position 2 (bridge + middle). Why did he take the cruiser out of the middle position??
Tim Bowers
I have 3 Cruisers in my strat and the 2 & 4 positions aren't very inspiring.
A true single coil in the middle would help.
Probably wanted more quack.
Goes to show! Best sounding strat player , best sounding strat around (and it ain't a Fender)
Hmm... I'd say if there's a weak link here it's the guitar.
Ibanez' always have that 'sterile' character, no matter the price range.
Isn’t that weird that the company that made the original only got close to reproduction according to what he said in the video....?

Also strange that he mentioned the switch changed the tone

why does everyone slather so much delay on their tone?

Aleksandar Stanojkovic it's called "mojo" lol. A sales tactic where you don't actually have to have any rhyme or reason to anything.

You notice you don’t see the pedalboard? Or see him actually hitting the switch to activate the pedal?
