Great demo as usual. Don't think he's ever made a bad demo! I've had my BB for a few years and maybe i'm just biased,, but I did try the AT last year and ended up not keeping it. Not a slam on the AT, just couldn't see it replacing my BB. I use three different amps at any given time, and I find that the BB is very adaptable to those amps with very little tweaking. I can see players liking the AT, a lot though. It's got that mid hump that is fun and it does sound nice and chewy too.
There are several versions of the BB Preamp xotic. Both have different sounds. The bb preamp AT sounds according to the specifications required by the AT. Therefore, we cannot expect the BB Preamp AT to sound the same as the original version. It is obvious that both will not sound the same. The BB Preamp AT is a great pedal, and the other versions of the BB Preamp are also excellent.
Fantastic Blackbird, Mike. Your interpretations of others' songs continue to amaze and inspire, even after years and years of demos. Happy holidays, dude!
How different would this be from the chrome custom bb preamps comp mode? Or is this just that in a single pedal or something totally different altogether?
Rich Sacher From what I can tell there is a slight difference but nothing huge, this video has a comparison between the two in the middle - youtube. com/L35CpRRCfQ4 you'll have to remove the space (not sure of UA-cam let's you post links)
Idk what you are talking about, his signature is the original BB. New BBs are more open and less compressed from the earlier ones. BB preamp comp has a switch between for the old BB/Timmons sound or the newer BB preamp.
Hope you start your lessons soon Mike. Merry xmas, thanks for the great demos. cheers
Bill Frisell and you the best Beatles versions ever... . A pleasure to hear your demos.
Greetings.
Most original version of Blackbird ever.
Merry Xmas!
Stanley Tweedle! ...790 is flipping out!
I bought it and love it. Maybe one of the top 3 overdrives I have tried.
Merry Christmas Mike - love your demos!
Such a sweet version of Blackbird
Thanks for all your demos and Happy New Year!
Fantastic demo - this pedal is well underappreciated. I have the RC and the BB AT - just about meets any requirement for a pro - crunchy to full on.
Merry Christmas from Down Under to Mike! You Rock!
BB= Blackbird. Very clever :P
I suppose it is b/c AT is famous for his love of The Beatles eh

AT sounds great!! Original too!! AT for me

Great job as always!
Merry Christmas Mike!!
great demo - what pickup is that in the bridge ? good bite !
Is he an Xotic or JHS guy? How can you have two signature drive pedals?
Hi Mike, what pickups do you use in your "strat" guitars?
What pickups are you using??
The hand be floating
Blackbird!!!
waiting for the Joe Xotic edition
Give this backing track for us!
The original just seems way more useful. The AT is too compressed and midrange dominant to be very versatile.
I prefer the original xotic BB
Hey Mike, is there much difference in eq and tone comparing BB-AT to BB-MB pedal? Cheers and Merry XMas.
Bought it and returned it. I liked the boost effect it produced but the hiss was unbearable.
Xotic bbp at overdrive or wayhuge geisha overdrive

I was wondering the same thing. My Custom Shop BB Comp has been my main dirt pedal for years. Does anyone have the answer to this question?

Mike Hermans you monster
At!
Original BB sounds better imo
nylonsteel I bet AT has better tone than you imo
nylonsteel I agree.

i just bought a bb preamp at (2017) and it sounds kinda like a tube screamer.
