It genuinely seems like most, if not all, of the people who have actually *played* AstroBot say that the GOTY win was super deserved and most of the people complaining about the win have never touched it.
@@SetsunaF916 No lol most, if not all, are gamers (trademark) who are either extremely obsessed over realism, difficulty and games being big in general. AstroBot is what Sony used to do pretty much near perfection during the PS1/2 era before the HD timeline sucked off all the fun that we had at the time and then companies like Naughty Dog started making less impressive products artistial wise.
Even though I myself never played Astrobot, I'm still glad it won GOTY. It seems every game that comes out these days is an Elden Ring clone, or otherwise has some super-serious grimdark tone to it. Astrobot reminded us that games could just be some innocent happy fun. Thank you Astrobot for putting a smile on people's faces rather then showing them a million and a half ways to get their own guts pulled out of their asshole.
My personal fave for best game was also astrobot. It was clean and well presented, joyful to play and very assessible, which I find important as kids as well as smeely adult people can play it too. Yet there is a challenge there if you want it. It didn't crash, or stutter, it didn't have any technical issues. It was just a solid fun game a 41 year old man can sit back and enjoy without getting sweaty palms. Weirdly though, I played Space Marine 2 more.
Janet couldn't have explained the strengths of Astro Bot more perfectly. It's a generational title. Also, thank you! I'm near the end of FF7 Rebirth, and that game's plot is SO SLOW and unfocused most of the time. I loved Remake, but this one just isn't doing it for me. I think I just liked being in Midgar.
Torn between this and Helldivers 2. But I lean towards HD2. That game took over the internet for months, heck it’s back to producing memes and quality content since the recent update
Astro Bot was phenomenal and such a blast but DID NOT introduce a single new thing to the genre and didnt advance it in any way. Most of the overhype came from it's connection to playstation IPs. Im glad it won but by no means is it the greatest game of all that deserved to win compared to the rest.
Greg nailed this.
Greg's roasting of SkillUp in particular had me cackling.
Astro Bot is my GOTY and I love Greg Janet Andy and Alanah, y'all rule.

Most of it was just delusional Black Myth fans. Astro Bot was never NOT the front runner for GotY.

That’s funny, because that’s exactly the same thing that happened with Balatro

Some people are stupid enough to believe it's not the best family game or platforming game of 2024, GOTY is still subjective.

*I'm constipated*

Miller has quit the point, which is pointlessly funny
JANET GARCIA LETS GOOOOOO
Way to not show up Lucy! Lol
It didnt, just like black myth didnt, both those games were mid and generic rehash. Fun, but nothing in them that sets them apart as goty material.
#GregSux lol
Thnx for sharing
Ug Greg Miller. Always a quick stop video.
Astrobot is a mixed bag The game's not for everyone more than not actually
So are souls-like games and definitely 200-hour RPGs
Sorry to be random but Alana was in my dream last night for the first time ever
Wow
Sorry but Metaphor was game of the year either that or Indiana Jones in my opinion are better
