I could easily be wrong but I wonder if the lack of mentioning Panasonic is potentially a hint at a new upcoming Lumix camera that they possibly had early access to and are under an embargo not to talk about it? They did mention OM Systems, even it was only like like a joke at the start.
I agree with Chelsea about the urgent need for anti-theft with tracking features being integrated into cameras (even less expensive models) in the very near future. Even entry level cameras (and many lenses) are worth enough to motivate thieves to steal them.
100Mp is only 50% greater resolution than my R5mk ii 45Mp sensor. So yes, I think there is more lens resolution currently left on the table, and canon soften lenses intentionally to ensure smooth bokeh. Canon may release a high resolution line of lenses.
Tony is right to keep predicting/hoping for an Android-based camera. I think Zeiss talked about one but it was EXTORTIONATELY expensive and never happened. Regardless, it's the logical direction of things especially when ALL photographers start on a smartphone nowadays, and use apps... Not endless clunky menus and loads of buttons. @@trevorsneath4665 so you don't think there will be an R7 Mark II with a global shutter? Just remember both Canon and Olympus put a so-called "digital teleconverter" (1.6x Crop Mode as Canon calls it) right into their bodies... And this is especially useful on the full frame R system models. So a full frame body like an R8 can function like an APS-C camera in situations where you need a little more perceived reach, but not a bunch. Now I would like to see some more APS-C lenses. A weather sealed RF-S 18-200 superzoom and a couple of series L RF-S lenses would greatly enhance Canon's line. These would go great with an R7 Mark II.
There’s definitely a market space for a pro aps-c body, with pre capture, 2 card slots and a stacked sensor from Sony… but I almost get the impression that they like being able to overcharge for the 6700 (which is a great camera, just overpriced as an a6400 replacement)
Hey 19, That's 'Retha Franklin She don't remember the Queen of Soul or Johnny C. It's hard times befallen The sole survivors She thinks I'm crazy But I'm just growing old
If I wanted 100mp I would just buy a medium format camera. I hope the manufacturers realize the real race is connectivity with other devices not MP or ISO performance. Also when are camera companies going to realize they can make lots of money if they sell loads of accessories that sync perfectly with their camera systems. Sony and DJI have done this with mics and flashes, come on other manufacturers, this is the standard.
I personally would like to see a Sony A7M5 with a stacked BSI 40 to 45mp sensor, 15fps mechanical, the A7RV's screen, AI autofocus chip, a very high definiton and very very fast EVF... 4K video up to 120 without crop and an effective IBIS... Which would be the perfect do it all camera for most people, specially with the hundreds of amazing lenses available for the system !
Wouldn't that just be the A1 mark 2? Seems like they should try to match the Z8 for that one. Sensor from the A1, no mechanical shutter at all, same EVF, flippy screen from the A7R5 since everyone likes it, body from the A9M3 since everyone likes that. They should be able to do that and match the price of the Z8.
Ok, now delete from that things: Stacked sensor, 4K120k without crop (probably won't be at all, maybe just 4k60 without crop), IBIS max 6.5 stops, no fully articulated screen as in A7RV/A1M2/A9M3. What will be: BSI CMOS, or Partialy Stacked sensor, ~15fps, AI chip, maybe pre-capture. Nothing else. It will be 1k$ more expensive than A7IV, around the same price as A7R5. That are my predictions.
@@pentagramyt417 The thing is, the flippy screen is something that doesn't add much cost and people like it, and the Z8 is a big competitor. And if it doesn't have a stacked sensor, it can't compete with that camera. A lot of people are waiting to see if Sony is going to give their customers something good that acknowledges that the competition is beating them, and if they don't, a whole lot of their customers are just going to get a Z8 and leave the Sony ecosystem for good.
@@pentagramyt417 That won't compete with the Z8. The problem is that that's what Sony needs to match at this point. It's FAR cheaper than the A1 and close to its capabilities in many ways: precapture, low rolling shutter video, 8K video, stacked sensor. If they release an A7V that has the specs you mention, it won't be worth buying. Lots of Sony owners will switch to Nikon in that case. I might even do so.
@@BryceShamwow But Z8 if flagship, A7 series are ENTRY levels cameras, these are waaaay behind A9 with autofocus, and other features that are put at first place to A1/A9. Sony has A1 marked as a flagship, at second place is A9 series. You might see evolution in A7-IV but as I said, A7 is just hybrid camera, for something like pro-hobbysts. A7-5 will be the level of Z6III or R5II
My Predictions: Sony: A7V will release with new Bionz XRC 4x faster processor making A1II owners cry why a flagship didn't have that Fuji: Will fully update their partially revised AF algorithm but break something along with it. Nikon: Z9II won't release Canon: open doors to 3rd party lenses! YAY!...............(Psych--- nope not happening)
@@Battlem0nk yes, but the full frame Pro lenses are coming too. Tamron and sigma chose to replace aps-c glass first, to keep the cost down, and to differentiate themselves from everyone else. And don't forget you can adapt any third party or native EF glass onto any RF body, so you're still not left out in the cold, until the day comes with full frame RF glass becomes available from third-party manufacturers.
Take a look at Sony's list of CMOS chips and you will know what is coming in the next decade, like a 247MP rolling shutter or 128MP global shutter camera.
If all manufacturers did not release any new hardware we would still be treated to millions of wonderful photographs. That could have been a prediction for the past 20 years.
Actually kind of wish these camera companies would stop with the megapixel war. 24 to 26 is literally the sweet spot. More and it's just numbers to lure in the amateurs that think that more is better.

Fuji: Launches their first full frame camera to compete with the RF (Canon + OM System/Olympus), E (Sony), Z (Nikon + Red), and L (Panasonic + Leica + Sigma) mounts. 2025 will be suprisingly huge and retro...
(1) DJI introduces its first full frame interchangeable lens mirrorless camera (2) Canon finally opens up the RF mount to third party lens manufacturers (3) Cheaper Apple Vision Pro. The reason this is significant is because we will finally start to have demand for 3D images & video, even if it takes a couple years. But we will need new lenses for these. If you have not had an Apple Vision Pro demo at an Apple Store yet, try it. It is just a matter of getting the price down before that takes over.
Also, is there that big of a difference between a 100 MP photo from a single slow camera vs a pixel-shifted series if the pixel-shifted series could be taken at roughly the same speed?
Wow.. I noticed that they didn't mention Sony A7 V nor A7R VI, which are obvious next products. They talked about Canon and Fuji rumor but not Sony. Is that because they have them in their hands right now and are not allowed to talk about them?
I really do think that camera manufacturers have to come up with something really special to keep afloat. Phone cameras together with AI enhancements will be not distinguishable from professional grade cameras in short time.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the DJI mini and wanting a telephoto lens… I think you could potentially have an interchangeable gimbal assembly so you swap in and out without increasing the weight…
Thank you for the posting. As a Canon shooter I am all set with cameras, but there are 2-3 new lenses that would get my potential interest including a 1:1 macro zoom, RF DO telephoto lens, RF telephoto zoom (200-500 mm f4?).
I love the Pocket 3 for some things, but am also frustrated by its limitations. Had a proper gimbal and just wouldn't use it, because setting it up is really hard and once you do, changing lenses is brutal. It also limits creativity in some ways. I really would like to either see an updated DJI Osmo with an APS-C size sensor, an A7sIV with a super IBIS like never seen before or a seemingly impossible gimbal where you enter your hardware and it just works without much fidgeting.
I want to be able to root the camera and write custom interface! Including a desktop version to make setting up macros, and custom user settings easier...
My prediction is no firmware update for the A1 with Focus Stacking or Animal Eye AF in Video... Sony is a terrible company, you can shove the AI chip where the sun don't shine
Chelsea is so, soooo young 😂😂 (Actually, I'm surprised even Tony remembers Carnac the Magnificent. He must have been a small child.) IMO 45-50 MP is enough for almost anybody. So, especially with the increasing focus on video, I don't see Canon releasing a 100-MP camera anytime in the future. If anything, the 24-MP R1 says they are going the other way. P.S. what's with that R5/R5II comparison footage at 18:55??
Nikon is a company that holds back and observes what it's competitors do, then they take the best of what they have to offer and jumps into the lead like the DSLR era. I wouldn't be surprised, since Nikon has the Expeed 7 chip in their entry models, the processor is 4 years old, they will have a new processor coming out in a new flagship. Most photographers got annoyed by Nikon as a big and arrogant camera company in the 1980s, now Canon and Sony has filled that slot.
Sony has some of the best cameras for video, however their bodies need more rounded edge corners, similar to Canon that has smoother rounded body designs that I like better than the brick-like design of Sony. However, Sony has gotten better in the last 5 years in their body design but has lots of room to improve body design and menus.

Thank you for the posting. As a Canon shooter I am all set with cameras, but there are 2-3 new lenses that would get my potential interest including a 1:1 macro zoom, RF DO telephoto lens, RF telephoto zoom (200-500 mm f4?).
GoPro 14?
How about a medium format from Sony?
I want a 100% studio camera.
I want resolution, not super high iso, not super high FPS, no AI auto focus.
My prediction is no firmware update for the A1 with Focus Stacking or Animal Eye AF in Video... Sony is a terrible company, you can shove the AI chip where the sun don't shine
Can you PC & Software handle this size of photo megapixels ? Will you need to buy new Pc?
Waiting for a Chelsea workshop
cameras are getting so advanced, you will no longer need a photographer, just (maybe) a camera operator.....
No cameras are needed either. Just AI...
Crop sensor guy since 10 years now. Looking forward to the Canon R7ii.
18:59 timeline clip from another track?
I think one of them will go after Hasselblad’s lower end medium format, but cheaper. I can dream.
I have a prediction, Chelsea will change her camera system at least once.
Wow, these two are still talking cameras. Haven't been watching them since the pandemic.
F2.5 is pretty fast for medium format right? Isn’t that something like 1.6 FF equivalent?
Fujifilm "medium format" is cropped, compared to Hasselblad. Its F/2.5 is equivalent to FF F/2.0.
JUST ORDERED THE A7R5..LIKE 20 MINUTES AGO.....
DJI is the hope of L Mount now.
Tony, you need Carnac’s turban. I want a Nikon Z rangefinder body, maybe the Zr, Zf guts in a rangefinder body.
Fully open RF mount ecosystem for FF
