Bully Buck Down!🦌🏹

- Опубліковано 9 жов 2023
- After I got my first Doe of the year with my compound bow, I decided to take advantage of the last few days before the mature bucks went nocturnal!
I think I buck hunted just in time, because all the bucks disappeared during daylight EXCEPT for the bully buck!
I’m so grateful to have made a clean shot and to have harvested a mature TN buck this early in the season!
Let me know if you have any questions or what you would like to see in future hunting videos!

I really appreciate the way you look at taking deer for the betterment of your local herd genetics. That's something I think about a lot, too! Must be the way we were raised with that in mind for our own animals.
I used to be so against hunting, i would get so mad when my dad went out to go hunt. But you, and other googling/looking into ive done, opened my eyes a lot. As long as your hunting isnt for sport, I'm all for it. I know you hunt for food.
But you have also explained it helps genetic diversity. Especially this boy who chases all the other bucks away.
Awesome hunt, gorgeous buck!
I'm a retired Agriculture teacher and we talked about this a lot in our classes. There are so so many untruths, myths, misinformation and flat out lies on social media, activist groups, internet, etc about farming and hunting. Personally I blame extreme animal rights groups for this....PETA being the main one. I'm really glad that you were open minded enough to seek information and ultimately change your views about hunting. Your comment made my day!
It ALSO keep the livestock healthier by removing unhealthy animals from the land as well. (Since this is their farm too)
We once had this squirrel.......... He *ahem* hung to his knees. Which was not a good sign. So if that was a buck, he could have even been given a special permit off season in some places.
I've learned so much From Katie, Dan, & Derrick. I placed my ASD girlie in AG this year & she LOVES it! & if SHE can understand culling, then all is right in the world.@@leannemcrae8132
Most excellent teamwork VanSlyke's! Perfect, textbook shot!
Congratulations Katie!! That’s a beautiful buck 🙌🏽
Katie! What an awesome harvest! The video was so beautifully edited too, I really enjoyed watching and was so excited for this video to come out! So happy for you girl!!!
That was an fantastic hunt. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! An amazing take down.
I’m a wuss when it comes to hunting but if I did it would be for the same reason you do. I’ve known about conservation hunting to keep the animal species in balance but I never even thought about hunting to improve a herd’s genetics. Thank you for talking about it!
That was an awesome hunt!!!! Congratulations 😊
Congratulations Katie!
I am so happy for you Katie, love your content, all of it! Keep sharing, thank you!
My son just drops his jaw in AWE at the shots of the wild things on your land.💜

Great job! I have my eye on a buck that I have been passing on. This was the motivation I need to go for him!
congratulations!!! he is a beauty
Nice take down! He’s a big guy! Congrats on your trophy!
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Congrats!!! Nice buck!
I love venison. I put a venison roast in a crockpot with onions spices and a can of cream of mushroom soup and cook it 8 hours on high. When it’s done you have venison and gravy. It’s awesome and the meat comes out nice and tender. Just a recipe from when I was a kid when I would go hunting with my Daddy and Brother. ♥️🦌👍Keep up the hunting videos. They bring back great memories of my childhood.
Congratulations what a gorgeous trophy
This was so awesome. I felt like I was on the hunt with you guys with the camera work and everything and oh my god this is your year Katie you’re doing duxking amazing!! That’s gonna be some good tasting meat I’m so jealous haha💜

Great job!
Awesome he was a bully buck for sure, way to go!
Amazing hunt Katie. Congratulations on getting your bully buck. That's how I hunt also. But in Pennsylvania hunting doesn't come in until close to Thanksgiving.
Congratulations 🎉
Nice buck.... definitely some character in the horns... good eating right there. Nice job!
I always thought younger was better?
We have one that we call crazy horn. One side is beautiful and the other side grows straight up. We harvested an off spring last season. His horns looked exactly like crazy horn.
Awesome buck!
Moose is what I’ve hunted a few years ago.
On the horse farm( 500 acres ) I worked on, there was a Piebald buck whose antlers always grew in on a crooked slant -
You did great !
Good job!
Congratulations
Congratulations 🎉 he is massive
Well done
Nice buck
Hi congratulations on the bully buck
Great Buck!! Congratulations!!! That was fun to watch. I have hunted in North Idaho and we have some pretty large bucks around here and if we want to we can go south about 50 miles and hunt Mule Dear!!!
That was a huge buck! Congratulations. That’s a full freezer for sure. I hope your Pap enjoyed his dinner.
For all you haters, PISS OFF! You'll never understand. Great job Katie, what an amazing Buck! 🎉❤
Me personally I’ve been trying to get a big buck for the last couple of years! Let me tell u I’ve got buck fever like bad 😂it’s ridiculous! I love watching your videos! I think you should do a video on how you dress them and what you put in your coolers!!!!!!!
Not her showing the “lost nail” 😂😂😂😂
Good job
I could Never
And the more I LOOK at this dude, the more curious I am to see him next to OTHER mounts once he's finished.
You're right, he's weird looking.
Can you share some recipes of how you cook it, also do you process it yourself?
Great shot , a bit hard for a city girl. But i understand and need to learn.
I want that recipe for the mac & cheese it look so yummy
Congratulations ! How much did he weigh in at ?
Wht app is tht for the tag n drag??
Congrats on an awesome buck! I got goosebumps after he went down. As a fellow lady hunter I know how exciting it is! There’s nothing like it. I just took my first bear a couple weeks ago and it was an incredible feeling 🥰
katie van slyke i heard your going to quarter horse congress i am going this weekend i hope i see you
Great video and congrats!! I do have a question though. Why didn’t you skin him that night? Is it cold enough in Oklahoma that he was okay outside over night without the meat getting ruined?
They’re in Tennessee😊
Tag before you drag, that's cool
I want to get into hunting so bad! When I was little I would go with my grandpa and uncles . Before having my two boys (6and 2) I wasn’t to interested in it but now that I’m a mom I want to learn so I can teach them how to hunt . Katie how do get into the “sport” of hunting? Any tips or suggestions?
Katie, do you slaughter your own harvest?
Beautiful Buck! Yes he needed to be taken out if he was scarying off other bucks and his genetics ain't that good. I had a 2yr old that was coming in on me with a rack like that but alot smaller and not legal to shoot. I nicknamed him Misfit.
Sooo someone has probably asked already but I’m curious how you determine which bucks you are hunting each year? Size? Age? Etc.
I love you all.
Nice job.
Now i thought I heard white tail mentioned, was that his species?
Other question. Why with some deers you call them bucks and others are stags?
I think in England they call them stags, but in USA we call them deer
What's your bag limit on deer ours is two
I think she's said before, 2 bucks, but they are good with getting more does since there are more around this year.
Full of character and now dead!
How many pounds of meat do you get from a buck that size? Does bow hunting help you to be able to go back to the same stand night after night since youre not scaring them off with the noise of guns or does that not make a difference?
She did comment because they walked all over the field that it might be a week before they can hunt that field again
Some parts of deer season is dedicated to bow, some to muzzleloader and some of it to rifle
What if the does have babies waiting on them?
I am the 100 person to like your videos
Hopefully you guys arent having to test all your deer for Chronic Wastings Disease like they do in the midwest... Such a scary pathogen. Nice buck tho
He’s so massive I would love to get a buck as big as him❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have you got some good venison recipes you can share
He is NICE!!! CONGRATS!! Eat a piece of loin for me!!❤
Awesome job ❤❤❤
Does she ever REPLY or comment ????
Why did your dad say the bully buck shouldn’t be breeding?
I believe it's because the abnormalities in his horn formation or rack shape and size can be an indication of genetic issues.
If you hunt to eat, I have no real problem with that. I just hate “trophy” hunters
So nice to know I’m not the only female hunter left
You kill Animals?
I was all excited for you till the shot and his fall. Then I was sad and felt sorry for the poor guy.
Guess the meat section at the market ran out of meat?? WTH. If you're starving, no problem, but I doubt that. So unnecessary to say the least. Stick with the horses. This is cruel. Did he hurt you, charge you,or was he just eating and enjoying his life, geeze!
Do you not understand how hypocritical it is to say “go to the store and buy meat that someone else pumped full of hormones, didn’t allow to live a natural life, and killed for you” instead of harvesting your own meat? Yikes lmao.
🤦🏻♀️
Even if it was for sport, deer are super overpopulated anyways.
It would be cruel to not have a hunting season only bc these deer are overpopulated they need to be controlled and this is what she does and her family..
So, You protect cows and pigs but kill bucks? 😂😂
What’s wrong with that?
And does too. They taste good. Hunting is a sport...don't agree or like it...keep it moving.
They breed cows, they also eat them. They just castrated a bull cow because he’s not a good bull cow, that means when he’s big enough he’s gunna be food for a family.
They hunt to keep the population down before it becomes to over run with deer. Bucks or does.
I don’t like it, but I understand it fully. If you don’t hunt or kill any animal ever, we’d be over run with them. Same with humans, if no human ever died we’d have way to many of em.
You must be new to the channel

You can buy a million dollar horse, yet you can’t fill your freezer with food hence, the killing. This is purely sport hunting. Why not kill your horses for their meat? Not much different. And before you say “Don’t watch then”, I didn’t.
You do realize that the meat in stores was once living, right? Where’s the logic in anything you’re saying?
So you'd rather people buy there meat from the store all wrapped in plastic? Where the animal died stressed hearing it's herd mates bellowing out of fear while they wait their turn to die? Hmmmm.
I'd take a fresh harvest over that any day of the year if I could. Because I know that that animal lived every minute of its life until it closed its eyes for the last time. That buck probably never even knew what hit it. One minute it's terrorizing other bucks and then he wasn't.
If I'm Australian who doesn't hunt can understand the concept then I don't know why others can't.
At least she knows where her meat comes from, and that it is as organic as you can get. If I had the opportunity to hunt and have fresh meat in my freezer I would. Plus who wouldn't want free food. Its much the same as breeding cattle, sheep or pigs for meat except you don't spend hundreds/thousands of pounds/dollars feeding, rearing, paying vet bills, bedding, and all the other expenses that come with keeping the animals. And like Katie says its conservation and helps the species to improve and thrive.
Congratulations 🎉
