    It is great to see you have the B58 coils installed Andrew. It will be interesting to see if there are any performance gains. I am running the BL coils with NGK 97968 plugs set at 0.018. I haven't experienced any issues with these as yet.

    That is such a win mate, well done.
    Reminds me of repinning different EVO ECUs in the old days. I haven't had any issues with the N55 coils as yet, going well but that's e40.
    If I go further I will definitely look into the B58 coils.

    Wow great job! Maybe as a kit the guy can provide adapters from n54 to b58 plugs. This will solve the wires to be to short. Dutch regards, Nico.

      That's a great idea, however i didnt like the idea of the extra connectors. But it would definitely be easier. To be honest, soldering the new ones in, wouldn't be too bad.

  • @viperidaenz1

    Often connector manufacturers will have multiple pin options that accept different gauge wiring.
    Perhaps there are different pins for those B58 injectors available to fit the larger N54 wiring.

      Check your high side fuel pressure. Even if you have PI the DME is designed to pull timing as it's first firebreak to save an engine from leaning out. Anything below 1500 it's a problem over 2000 is preferred. After a relative compression test with an oscilloscope the next thing I would do is put a spool helix overdrive for the HPFP and keep the DME seeing 3000psi all pull long

    hate to say it but $300 is on the cheap side for crimp tools the common ones we use at work are 600-700 each, the tool from TE to do those terminals is 350 just for the die set and another 250 for the tool to put them in

      Not really. And as you can see from the install, it’s a total pain in the ass. Even the Bosch coils are fine unless you’re running crazy boost.

    • @Saif0412
      @Saif0412 3 роки тому

      @@TML34 Eldor Coils are better, failing that the Delphi ones. I've heard of too many Bosch coil failures on tuned N54's. It's a pain in the butt what Andrew had to go through but the B58 Coils are technically superior, hope they last long and perform well.

      Tried again today, the B58s have definitely fixed the stutter on cold start. You dont have to do much research to realise how much more potential they have in the top end. I mean in theory a stronger spark should simply equal a more efficient burn of fuel. But we will see if its noticeable to the driver over the next few days.

      Sohail A, The only downside i found, of turning off - cold start noise reduction is cats take longer to warm up, and engine oil takes slightly longer as well.
      Unless your exhaust is really loud or your getting complaints from neighbours I'd personally leave it on.
