This video right on time because i’ve been A Bootmod3 guy for the past 3 years & just recently decided to try MHD. I def didn’t know the difference in Adapters but I ordered one & the one I received is the Universal one. Looks like that’s the best one of the 3 👌
As someone with some experience I can’t really talk about, I’m completely amazed by how many people don’t realize how important it is to have a battery charger connected when loading firmware in to cars and how easy it is to Brick control modules.
I guess I could mention this, but when I worked as an apprentice at a Dealership (before the stuff i can’t talk about) the tech I worked with decided to use the brand new remote connection to wirelessly connect to a (insert model) in the parking lot and up date it, well the battery died and it bricked the ECM. Pushed it in to the shop, replaced the ECM and started to up date it a again this time with a battery charger and wired connection and then no kidding the power went out in that part of the city….
It was a Friday and cars where stuck on lifts, that was a interesting way to end a hard weeks of work.
I have a G30 540 tuned with BM3 and it was always a headache trying connect to the ECU with the OBD cord and connectivity issues. I got the new MHD RED wireless adapter and it works flawlessly with my BM3 tune.
Connect, download any updates or tunes you want and save to flash later. Restart the car and flash. All done!

I still am running the old adapter and the main issue I always have is that it randomly disconnects. I’m definitely going to buy this one since I believe it has an overall better connection signal. And well I also always leave mine connected since I run it off a tablet that stays in my car and the auto shut off is definitely going to be a plus.

lol. i read alllll this stuff on every product,every forum,every utube,every tuner description, every manual,... ... ... EVERYWHERE. for 3 yrs before i got my car, NO WHERE, NO ONE, ANYWHERE, ANY description of ANY of these products concernin these cars said.. u need adapter, THEN u need to purchase software for 550, then pay for tune if doin more upgrades!, then pay a tuner 800, etc etc etc.. ur the FIRST person iv seen mention this in 8 years! jus sayin. it was a nightmare findin all pieces to the puzzle.and no one i called or emailed would tell me straight word for word what all i needed to do.why that is ill never know.someone would make a million with a one stop shop item bundle for different types of power mods/tunes/etc. and not every state has a backyard free mechanic or tune shop on every corner, no one will touch any of this hardly in most states.sum euro shops will but wont warranty labor 4 aftermarket stuff.

Your phone disconnecting is usually a setting in the phone to connect to the strongest Wi-Fi network that your phone has credentials for. Since the tuner has a LAN but no WAN access, the phone will switch to your home Wi-Fi for WAN access.
I bought a 2015 640i gran coupe over a year ago. Definitely done some digging. Vrsf makes a few products. I see a lot of 335 stuff. I see some custom stuff. For fitment stuff im curious. I wanted the v8 it didn't happen so with the inline six tuning popped into my head. My goal over 650i numbers to the wheels if thats do able. Anything back would be great. Im just lookin for consistency. Im sick of lookin at it sit in these winter months. I just wanna drive it again
I bought my e chassis adapter from you like 2-3 months ago;( maybe if I ever have any problems with it I’ll cough up the money for the universal one, but for now I’ll just deal with the slower speeds

On newer bmw's with autotuner we need to turn on emergency light and seatbelt in place so the car dont go to sleep.

And if your unlucky brick your ecu, dont panic. Contact someone with autotuner,kess v3, flex youname it. I have recover some ecus with VR file on someones car.
But i also have recovery with bench and boot aswell. I have not yet in my 4years doing tuning not got a ecu recovered.
If you get contact with ecu, you most of the time will get it recovered, but you also have some ecus that are dead if you brick them :)
At 2:30 to clarify why this happens... When you connect your phone to the MHD adapter, your phone notices it can't get an internet connection (MHD WiFi). The default behavior is for your phone to connect to another known WiFi with internet (in this case your home). You can fix this by turning off the auto connect setting on your phone (on iPhone tap the info icon on the house WiFi and you will see it). You can turn it back on when you're done flashing
Only helps sometimes. Doesn't happen at the shop and at other auto connect networks. The issue is deeper than that.
@@VehicleVirals then yeah could be frequency interference in your case like you said. If you really wanted to try and fix it you could try manually switching the channels on your wifi router
It’s a known issue with the orange adapter, which was actually mentioned in the MHD website. When surrounded by other wifi networks the connection quality gets really poor, causing the cellphone to constantly connect and disconnect from the mhd network as there is a lot of interference. This happened to me constantly when outdoors near to apartments, with many wifi networks, and trying to flash changes to a E82 N55 I owned. However when on my apartment basement or outdoors with few wifi networks around never had this issue. This for sure was a big problem as I failed some flashes due to lost connection and was nerve wracking. I own now a G42 m240i and at least for xhp flash the only option is to use wifi adapters (enet black adapter doesn’t work) I ordered an universal adapter and I hope the wifi network stability was improved to avoid failed flashes, in any case I’ll be doing the first full flash in an area with 0 wifi networks around… just in case.

@@racker5108 I've done the same on iphone and it works perfectly using the mhd enet adapter + RJ45 cable + RJ45 to lightning adapter with no issues. For android I assume works the same using an OTG RJ45 adapter instead of the lightning one.
Thanks Christian. I have had MHD for 3 years now on N54 and this little vid just answered some questions I had wrt the aftermarket head unit.
Can you check for us when using the new OTG Tune switching, - do your presets for burbles, throttle sensitivity, cold start follow the new tune selected or do you lose them?
I still have to test map switching. But I will soon.
After you flash the car do you have to leave the obd port in or can I take it out.

MHD universal adapter absolutely would not connect to xHP on my E90 N54 335i for some reason. I had to buy a Thor adapter separate to finally get my transmission tune on the car.

My issue with the old orange MHD adapter...before flashing, I used Protools on the Android tab and MHD monitoring on the Head unit. I need to disconnect all these devices with the MHD adapter before I proceed flashing using iOS device. Without disconnecting previously used devices, the flashing just takes about 12% progress and stops there. It requires a successful flashing. From here, I have to ignition off, wait for 15 seconds, turn the ignition on again then reflash to 100% completion.

Hey, I’m buying the adapter from your website, quick question do I need a super license for my N 54 or just the tuning license?
I wish they had tunes available for N53 engines. Would be really nice for people here in the UK and Europe wanting to tune 325i/330i. They have the same ECU as 335i’s too

@@bil9148 3 stage intake and cat deletes are the mains things, high flowing exhausts too. With a custom map and mods you can get damn near 300hp
IT DOES NOT HAVE A SLEEP MODE. It will 100% drain your battery while it’s off, at least on e chassis. Unfortunately somehow worse than the orange one. The bigger issue is that it doesn’t let the dme sleep while off. They need to update the firmware so you can leave it plugged in without battery drain issues.
It will turn off ab 10 min after ur doors are locked and ecu shuts down

From someone who has had both, learn to be satisfied with that little n52. The n54 gets expensive very quickly… stage 3 intake, headers, and tune should keep make you happy on the n52! Definitely worth looking into. Many say they are satisfied with that

I’m wanting to get my e60 535xi tuned but also I had recently installed a new alternator and battery and my lights are all messed up now. Was wondering if this also could help read the battery code.

This is the first time I have posted a comment on UA-cam. I'm a beginner (actually a first-timer) at MODs and tune-ups. I bought a 3-liter N54 gasoline engine 2011 Alpina B3S three years ago and have been enjoying its performance tremendously. Would appreciate your advice: 1) Will the MHD's new Universal Wireless Adaptor work on my car? 2) What other gadgets do I need? 3) Approximately how much horsepower and torque will I gain? (An estimate will do; Spec says 410PS and 540nM and I can keep up with an M3) I'm mostly concerned about gaining torque on the low end i.e. to beat the sh*t out of Porsche and siblings in the neighborhood on 0-60mph (0-100kph) sprints. Thanks a mil ! Oh, and the last thing I want is to break a rod, shaft, or bank.
Congrats on posting your first comment. Your BS3 is if I'm not mistake a version of the 335is. If so then yes MHD would work on your car. You'd only need the adapter and tuning license to tune a Stage 1 tune. If you want to run Stage 2/2+ you'll need a the very minimum aftermarket downpipes and a FMIC is recommended.
These cars gain a ton of torque with just a tune, you'd be more than happy! Also I wouldn't be too worried about screwing up your motor, assuming it's a in good shape and gets routine maintenance.

I have a question, just tuned with MHD stage 1, 2017 BMW M6 it says for stock vehicles but I also added a aFe intake. The engine light came on 2 times already for low voltage . I cleared the code. I haven’t driven the car much don’t want to go into limp mode if that is a possibility. Also I feel like the car is closing the throttle at like 5,500 rpm and it just doesn’t feel all that powerful on the 1 pass I did. If you know does stage 2 correct the code for MAF sensor error? Or should it clear with stage1 with time for the DME to learn the new air flow ?? Thanks

Adapter can be used on any car. The License is VIN locked.

Can i ask a question ? Can't you log in the new tune and after unplug the scanner from the OBD . In order for the tunes to work the scanner must be in obd port ?
You can unplug the adapter at any point after tuning the car.
Was looking for this right here. Got my adapter, charge pipe, intakes, catch can all going on. Plus I bought this thing called car lock. Check it out if you guys can’t always park somewhere that gives peace of mind. I work at a restaurant where cars get broken into, my town is know for this. @@VehicleVirals hey, thank for all your videos, I got the universal adaptor during the black Friday sale, I've done the Xhp stage 3 map with custom changes, f@king insane, like a e93 m3 now, love those rev match blips, The car shoots forward when it blips, a tiny bit scarry!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 feels somuch quicker, gonna loose the double gear kick down in sport mode, as that happend earlier on a tight bend and the back end kicked out lol,( in the rain🤣,) I loved it! mrs hated it lol.

Yea I’ve left mine on while out of town for a week and it ran my battery down, so glad to see they made a sleep mode.
Sunoco is the only one in area that carries very high content of E85.

Not really. MHD is a flash tune and JB4 is a piggy back tune.
