  • In the previous video, we lowered the legacy on BC BR Coilovers, and now, we complete the look with a new set of wheels from Fifteen52 who has recently partnered with us on the project to make it that much more awesome!
    There was a small issue with installation we were able to get handled in the video, which is an older design that is being phased out currently; because of that, I was able to use Fifteen52's customer services as well, which got me handled same day and we had updated pieces sent out!
    I am in love with this split 7 spoke design, being reminiscent of the JDM S402's OEM wheel layout, but allowing for a beefier tire setup, in this case, a 245/35R18 via Continental Tire.

    To balance those rims all discount tire had to do is use pin plates to balance those tires and you wouldnt of had to remove those center screws. We use pin plates all the time at costco when we balance wheel and tires

    • @MatlasDI
      @MatlasDI  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, they wouldn't do it on the sti's set that we had mounted the previous week, so we were instructed to remove them. I don't think pin plates are carried very often, as none of the shops I've worked at or visited have had them, but it is a little surprising a full fledged tire shop wouldn't. That may have been part of the reason for the update to the snout design.
      That is a good bit of info for anyone who may want to avoid this scenario, I wonder if all Costco tire centers have them on hand.

      Most costco tire shops carry all pin plates bc thats the preffered way to balance in costcos eyes. Atleast my costco does I woulda mounted them and balanced no prob hahha

    Gnarly car broham! Totally brings your LGT to an ENTIRELY new level. I have a Black 05 LGT (sedan not wagon) with the 04 STI silver BBS, and the Gold Brembos in front, stock still in back. Want to rebuild and powder coat them but can’t decide on a color. I keep thinking Black, but might look rather boring. I just think that the black would pop through the bright silver on a black 20% tinted LGT. Totally need to roll my fenders as well, chewing up my tires every time I hit a bump a little too fast. Keep up the Content man! LGT’s are my favorite cars in the entire world. I have a 15 WRX, that’s my daily. Leaving me with the option to BUILD my LGT and make some SAUCE! So your videos are helping me more everyday you put content up.

      It's so hard to decide on color schemes, I need brakes asap on this thing, but have a similar issue with that, as I'm sure I'd have to powder coat them. I did a Jamaican teal over alien silver on the outback and it looks really good. Almost a project mu type look, but I feel like it wouldn't work well if I changed things up in the future. Can never go wrong with black, and if you wanted, you could always get different brembo logos to make them pop a little more. 🤙

    Matt, I put the SH Forester Paddle Shift Kit on my built 4EAT Forester. The kit was factory on the 2011-2013 Forester S Edition (AUSM) and Forester TS (JDM) which had the 5EAT from the factory as well. May be a good compliment for your built 5EAT. I got the kit from AVOJDM and it was plug and play.

      Thats sweet, I've seen a couple done on the late models. Mine has the steering wheel buttons currently for up and down shift, which has done well over the years, so I've always been iffy on adding the paddles. Honestly, at this point I'm on the fence about spec b 6mt swapping it if I can find one for a reasonable price.

    Good info on the suspension geometry. Running koni's with h&r springs and 3/8 saggy butt spacers. Right now the rear sits about 3/8 higher than the front. I thought that just removing the spacers would even it out but now thinking a 1/8 or 1/4 spacer would make it right.

    • @MatlasDI
      @MatlasDI  Рік тому +1

      Thanks dude 🙏 commonly overlooked with suspension and leaves people very confused. H&R springs normally look pretty good without the rear spacer, so I would check how it is with just removing them and then go from there. 👌

    • @MatlasDI

      Grille is the avo turboworld jdm style, got from their website, I have a video on that I'd recommend watching as I think their mold has warped over the years making fitment a bit annoying. The lip is a bayson r jdm style. Can get from their website or ebay account, fitment on that was mint, but recommend to remove the bumper and use a lot of screws and/or long rivets. 🤙

    Sic wheels Matt... Would a 18/9.5/+38 fit in there without mod on stock height?

    • @MatlasDI
      @MatlasDI  Рік тому +1

      That is like the perfect setup for outback flares, and the most positive offset id recommend running on 9.5 to dodge the rear trailing arm with the inside tire. I had to roll and pull the fenders for this setup to fit and still have to run a bit more camber up front than I would like with the stock body.
      I don't have too many recommendations for stock height because I've never fit wheels to them without lowering, but I'd recommend to take stock specs, how far from fender it is and calculate from there how far, essentially, you'd like to bring the tires outward. From there, we would have a good reference for wheel width and be able to determine off that, what offset would be best to shoot for in that size. 🤙

    You were saying spring rate was to soft. I'm looking at BC's site and looks like default spring rate is 6kg front and 8kg rear. Would you recommend stepping up 1kg each?

    • @MatlasDI
      @MatlasDI  Рік тому +1

      8k rear should be fine. Mine had 7k front 6k rear. Front, I'd recommend an 8k as well. For different vehicle types, I'll typically base my choices off suspension geometry/strut location, and front/rear weight bias. Then the most important thing for a good road feel is getting the damping setting within the proper range for the spring rate.

    maybe a stupid question, but how do you get that turbo flutter? and does it hurt the car in any way?

    • @MatlasDI
      @MatlasDI  Рік тому +1

      It's because of the bpv. It's a grimmspeed and it has a very hard spring. It doesn't really open up unless you're at higher boost pressures to outweigh the higher spring rate, ie 18psi+. On today's turbochargers it doesn't necessarily hurt anything, and it is an interesting and unique sound, but honestly, I would prefer it to have a lighter spring, or an adjustable one to really dial things in.

    • @MatlasDI

      @Henry Rouse either way I'd look at getting a protune. The off the shelf cobb tunes should be viewed as a base map in my eyes until you can visit a tuner and get things properly dialed in. Even with similar parts there is always a give or take between engine efficiency and other factors even between like vehicles. 👌

      @aldob25 These were 18x8.5+35
      They did stick out a little bit, and with the 245s I rolled each fender, and gave them a very mild pull. It isn't so much the top of the fender area, but more so, the door arch area for the rear, just due to how the suspension moves.
