I couldn’t even remove the headrest because the catches were broken where someone had tried to fix it before, so I bent a cable tie in a J shape and wrapped it around the lever, pulled it tight and poked the free end out of the top of the seat, so anytime the headrest wont lock, I give the cable tie a pull and it locks.
What a great video. Thank you for showing the lever and spring close up. My Pacifica has the same problem but it's an electric actuator. I bet the motor drives the same cable mechanism though. Other videos say the whole headrest mechanism needs to be replaced when it won't latch. How absurd is that? I figured it was just a lube job. I could probably just shove a wd40 tube in there without taking the seat apart.
thank you for posting this. we have a chrysler pacifica with exact same problem
Probably the same internals. Good luck
Thanks, man! I've had my Commander for about a month and haven't figured this out yet. You're a life saver! PS, you put the headrest on backwards.
Thanks for the comment. You're right!, I realized that after making the video lol.
Thank you so much! Had the same problem on our 2007 Commander and your instructions were the perfect solution, step by step.
Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much! Followed your every step and repaired two headrests in my Commander!
Glad I could help!, thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the comment! Appreciated. It you can direct the oil maybe, but yes it just needs to be lubricated.

Great video, do your headrests not automatically pop up when the seat returns to the upright position?
