The entire point of even doing this paralogue is the loot on the enemies. No point in even doing it if you aren’t gonna grab exp gem and rapier

      >macuil evil repelling (30 hit mag batt with sick stats and resonant lightning)
      >indech sword fighters (one of the best ground battalions in the game with retribution, one of the best gambits on the game)
xp gem cring, xp doesn’t matter much
and the rapier is a sword

@@alpha_c. resonant lightning isn’t a good thing for mages. Most lack charm so it’s not gonna be consistent. As far as the actual gambit itself you’d want blessing for setting up vengeance users protecting frail units ect as far as gambits that boost mages ( especially when considering the alliance default blessing gambit is tied for highest magic increase) and while the hit can be relevant it’d only be particularly notable for particularly inaccurate mages or for hitting petra or similarly dodgy enemies since mages generally have a way easier time hitting foes due to the accuracy formula being better for mages. You’d need a lot of mages for this to be a mainstay on your lineup especially since a lot of mages find trouble finding the time to raise authority to a between faith reason potentially riding and Lance for dark Knights and for that reason there are a lot more gambits I’d prefer . Indetch is fine enough for stats and can be a great gambit too ( though mostly on blue lions since dimitri is the person whose most inclined to enemy phase nonsense) but it’s pretty much just a stat gambit in a lot of setups and there’s other stat gambits that are more generally useful so unless you have a enemy phase unit like dimitri there’s other options. And you’d usually have at least one unit who kinda likes swords so at minimum you can use the rapier for windsweep shenanigans with byleth ( especially great on a flyeth (usually falcon knight) for windsweep plus canto you can essentially solo the final boss on blue lions for example as long as you can do any form of damage) even if swords generally are one of the weaker weapon types having a few good ones for byleth isn’t a bad thing

@@zoruafox7512 you can’t have blessing batts on everyone, and hit is important. mages can make good use of reso lightning with linked attacks. indech being a stat batt is simply not true, retribution is one of the best gambits in the game. you mentioned something like “unless you have an enemy phase unit like dimitri”, and if we’re talking about optimal play you will absolutely have an EP unit and they will almost always be your strongest unit except in the case of CF where you have raging storm edel. also wth you going on about byleth windsweep, that requires a-rank swords, who the hell is using sword byleth? swords are just not very good ever and barely ever worth using at any point in the game. how are you soloing BL 22 with windsweep lol? i am talking about madd btw

@@alpha_c. enemy phase via vantage or wrath vantage is less consistent then in past games due to gambits ignoring them. Dimitri can still be full hp so he can afford to be hit by one or even two gambits which makes him notably better. They are useful but I wouldn’t necessarily say your best unit Plus dodge setups don’t require as much investment in other skills and don’t need to have retribution used on them. As for soloing edlegard once you get up there you can just use canto to get out of range once you hit edlegard. Also it’s not really that hard to get up to windsweep as a falcon knight on byleth by that point. Even with swords most likely be a secondary weapon to lances for a flying byleth you’d still get some use of armor slayer sword of creator rapier and even normal stuff you’d sometimes use to break speed benchmarks early due to swords lower weight. You’d also get decent usage out of swords crit options since those have the highest crit of any crit weapons. Even when only being used as a secondary weapon type as a exception to lances you’d likely get windsweep at some point and it can be quite useful vs things with massive hp pools that realistically won’t go down instantly to bring them into range of being brought down (legend of the lake the final bosses ect) and with canto you can dance in and out of range in cases with terrain that can only be flown on.

ok ngl at this point i kind of can’t be bothered with these massive walls of text but i’m just gonna say that’s it’s commonly accepted knowledge in the 3h meta that EP builds are broken and swords suck
